@@emmanew3226don’t have to be intimidated, it’s actually all quite simple. The hardest part is getting schematics to build better weapons and then getting the materials to get said weapons. But it’s not that it’s “hard” just time consuming
For tempest dual dagger folks, create two daggers, each with a fade-touched item that gives a 20% chance to cast Hidden Blades. Then: stealth-->poisoned weapons-->twin fangs (w/upgrade)(from behind the enemy)-->shadow strike (w/upgrade)(already back in rear flank position)-->thousand cuts-->deathblow. Every hit, including the ones from thousand cuts, has a 20% chance to ALSO cast hidden blades. Depending on your passives, you should also be recovering stamina throughout. And with the shadow strike upgrade, your cooldown times should be much lower.
I remembered when I first got the tempest specialization for my Sera, I didn't think much of it but when I was playing and I had Sera in my party I was in a losing battle then Sera (I would guess was the flask of lighting ability) riddled my enemies with arrows fast as hell and I was like "how dafuq you do that? lmao
What makes me laugh, is I have her equipped with ShadowStrike, so sometimes she activates the flask and goes running at super high speed, uppercuts the bastard, and then runs back to go into machine gun/arrow mode! XD
Hi, does this build work well on IA, or do you have to be playing it to make the most of it ? Because I don't plan on micromanaging SERA too much other than positioning and important spells at certains times, or change her focus, so does she do well on her own with that build if you've tried please ??? Thank you !
Tom Georgin All of the builds I've made are viable for both your main character, and AI companions. With this build, there is one danger that may be a problem and that's Shadow Strike. If the AI chooses a bad time to use it, it can result in series damage or death for Sera.
Thanks so much for this well put together video guide! I was having trouble deciding whether to go for Assassin or Tempest for my archer, but now I know I gotta get Tempest! It looks like mad fun, and I like how the skills work with each other. Thanks again. :D
So basically the most immature and crazy person in the game has the power to continuously rip everyone in her vicinity to bloody shreds? I love Dragon Age...
Pretty solid build. I just kinda swap the stealth skills for more passives in the Poisoned Weapons side, though. I find that more useful since I'd rather not get into melee at all. I'm very glad the Thousand Cuts glitch was patched, that was simply broken...
Thanks for the video, Kinetic! I wouldn't necessarily pick up evade just because the CD on leaping shot isn't that bad, and worst case I can just stealth out again, which is another short CD. Shadow strike is pretty cool, though.. hmm.. I usually apply poison and then spam explosive shot after the flask, then cycle through the rest of my skills with full stamina until the flask is off CD. Seems to be the most optimal, imo. I only play on hard, but I tend to not have any issues.. not to mention 3x thousand cuts at full focus can pretty much destroy any boss.
Ye it's ridiculous how FOF could work with Thousand cuts . Even if the bug is fixed by BW,it's still very powerful . Use Horn of valor(upgraded) + drink 3 elixirs- 1 hp pot/regen pot & resistance pot as passives grants bonuses & Thousand cut a dragon,GG . Even more damage with Mark of death triggered, flask of lightning spam with Leaping shot/deathblow !!
Exp shot is quite OP if you hit the target at its weakest point, i discovered this few days ago after my 10th playthru, it can do up to 8-10k damage on explotion… basically 1-2hits WITH barrier on… insane. Sick build! I had something alike just had to make sure i was still OP
back the last time I played DAI, before my recent return, I played a 2h Reaver, and had a fondness for putting Sera and Solas in my party, along with a tanky-as-hell Blackwall. I'd switch up now and again, but that was my standard party. did something VERY similar to this for Sera (was kinda following this video for guidance, so of course.) though, I found myself forgoing Shadow Strike and it's upgrade in favor of Fighting Dirty and Explosive Toxin. with Blackwall's mad tanking, my own ability to draw aggro and exploit clustered enemies, and Solas's ability to weaken/cluster/contain enemies, it just helped to have the bonus to AoE than an extra one target high damage attack.
Great video, thanks a lot for the ideas. I did your sword and board reaver build for my first play through, I'll try a tempest archer next. My wife has beaten the game a few times now, and was going on about the tempest archer awesomeness.
I'd love to see you cover a Two Handed Champion. I've been testing it a lot myself lately, re-speccing Blackwall to see how it plays out. Now I'm using the bearded one more than my main character! It's the perfect blend of offence and defence. You can either go all out attack, using Champion's increased guard and momentary invincibility when things get rough, or take a couple of passives from the Sword and Shield tree and be the party's heavy hitting tank.
By the way, this build is lacking one key feature. Leaping Shot. Why? The devil is in the details... Every time you use it, you fire off a large number of arrows . Each individual arrow has a chance to critical hit. And given you are a rogue, your critical chance should be quite high indeed. Combine it with the passive that gives you stamina on every critical you score, and you are in for a real good time. You can potentially regain more stamina than you expended using the skill. Still not convinced? It's also insanely powerful if used with fade-touched weapons. Let's say your bow has a ten percent chance to cast hidden blades on hit. That ten percent applies to every individual arrow. Although you only get one hidden blades per leaping shot, that one time is almost guaranteed. My own tempest rogue has a ten percent chance of invincibility for three seconds on hit, and Leaping Shot triggers said effect nine times out of ten. So it's become my "oh shit" button, getting me out of harms way and heavily damaging my opponent, all the while making me invincible for a short period so they cannot follow up with their own barrage of attacks. Now imagine having 5-guard-on-hit instead. You'll have warrior like protection every time you use the ability.
MarquisSmith My main reasons for not taking it are A. I want to stay close to the action for Shadow Strike. If I need to "escape", I can stealth or FoL. B. I don't have the space for it. I'm maxed at 8 already and prefer Explosive Shot and Full Draw. I agree with everything you mentioned, but it seems counterproductive to this point blank style of build.
first time playing dragon age inquisition and the series. Looked up class builds very helpful video, just started on nightmare A Challenge is what makes it fun:)
KineticGTR now that the TC exploit is patched in patch 5, what are your thoughts on an alternate tempest archer build? Have to cut back on some points to reach both hook/tackle and leaping shot, but which?

Man i love these build videos;) Especially enjoyed playing this build. Only lvl 14, but got most except the bottom part of subterfuge. ;) Will you be posting parts from your playtrough with the inquisitior? ;-)
I think Tempest is best suited for dual dagger, just saying I already tried and it work really nice you just spam flank attack + flask of fire, once it run out, switch to ice + twin fang, once it run out, switch to thunder + basic attack by the time it finish, you should not have any moment to wait for next flask of fire
but my created character named ada from resident evil my favorite character was a huntress and I unlocked the tempest class as a specialization so I am very strong I love Dragon age
My Dagger Tempest build: Pop Poison Weapons and Flask of Frost just before entering battle. Start with Flank Attack to poison and freeze everyone it hits, Skirmisher will auto-stealth to drop aggro. (I have Hidden Blades on both daggers, it almost always activates with Flank Attack) While the initial target if frozen, hit 'em with Twin Fangs, if not dead, pop Flask of Lightning and tear into 'em. Toxic Cloud might be useful but things are usually dead first. I haven't found a way to use Flask of Fire effectively, mostly just when I'm out of stamina/everything on cooldown. Thousand Cuts with Hidden Blades on both Daggers(a third on armor?) is stupid powerful(throw on Cole's Mark of Death and nothing survives), no unintended game glitches required.
I have been watching some of your builds, and you have a lot of creativity and find synergy in skills where no one would find them... Excellent work! I just wish you could advise which skills should we prioritize, in order to have a sustainable character earlier on...
Best party is really a matter of personal preference. Ideally though, you almost always want to run one of each class in your party. I like two Warrior, Mage and a Rogue.
KineticGTR I use the same party setup. It took me a while to figure out the AI settings, but once I did, I ended up using Iron Bull, Sera, and Vivienne. My I was sword and shield at first, but changed to two handed reaver after seeing your reaver vid, so I replaced iron bull with blackwall. Now I'm working on an archer. Thinking about going assassin and putting Cole in my party, I hear he is good.
hi !! Nice vid am following this build with some modifications like using the leaping shot with the flask of fire will give insane dmg!! you should try that! anyway i want to ask what is the max lvl for attributes my DEX is at 50 so if this is the max lvl does crafting with lets say +16 dex still adds to the attribute if its on max lvl or should i invest on other attributes ??
I thought that Bioware fixed Thousand Cuts and Flask of Fire? At least on the PC version in the recent patch... I also personally think Tempest works best with Long Shot. With Flask of Lighting you can easily line a shot up to do more AOE dmg which Archer does lack. I like the build though quite good. I was overlooking that armor pen passive. Its really powerful.
Flask of Fire working with Thousand Cuts is not intended and a confirmed bug/oversight as stated in the Bioware forums. Officials said that it will be patched sooner or later, so the best part about Tempest will be a LOT (!!!) weaker making Tempest an underwhelming spec imo. But as long as they don't patch this it's insanely fun (I can 2 shot some dragons with this...). Interesting build once again, although I disagree with some points, but maybe that's personal preference? For example, I wouldn't take Shadow Strike for an archer, but I would always take Leaping Shot for my main, it's just too good imo. Yes, the AI can't really handle that skill, but I think it's a must have for the main character. Nevertheless it would be interesting to see how you would change the build once Flask of Fire + Thousand Cuts is patched, because...let's be honest here, that's why 99% of the people play Tempest, right? Of course it will still be one of the best focus skills in the game, but it will not be ridiculously overpowered like it is now. A good video, as always. Any hints what the next build will be? :)
It doesn't just work with a Thousand Cuts. It also lets you spam the even more damaging Mark Of The Rift. I had to take both focus attacks off my hot keys, as the temptation to abuse the glitch is just too great. So why not just use it? Well, it makes the game a walkover, even on the highest difficulty settings. Fun at first, cheap in the long run.
MarquisSmith Yes, I know that it works with all focus skills, it's just that Thousand Cuts gets the most "attention". And I totally understand you taking off those skills from your hot keys, it makes Tempest almost as boring as Knight Enchanter :(
sT4RduZZt It sonly boring if you play it in a boring way, You can only use the damned fire flask once in a blue moon really, and fights are sometimes CRAZY. at that point, you get to fight more waves using the ice,+lightening+leaping shot. There are many other things you can do as a tempest. Which is the point! Heck, I'm lvl 11 atm, and thousand cuts rank 1 does not one shot all enemys, not even close. its not that op. maybe late game.
David Boggs I agree that TC is ok in early and mid game, but have you seen the tier 3 focus version on a High Dragon? Cuts his health in half (no pun intended...) and before they patched it you could use FoF -> TC -> TC -> High Dragon dead... and that's just what made it so insanely overpowered. Yes, it is still a really great skill, but finally it's not this "I make every boss in the entire game a complete joke, lol" skill anymore after the patch. I didn't like Tempest from the beginning, even when it wasn't patched (or maybe because of that?) and my archer is an Assassin, because I like restealthing and stuff. But hey, I don't judge people for playing Tempest or anything, just personal preference. :)
sT4RduZZt Thats cool. i was assassin, but man I died in like 1 shot everytime. I wanted more control, and the ability to do MASSIVE aoe damage. and with TC explosive+poison +leaping shot x3? hahaha yeah, I like tempest because there are many combos, and interesting ways to go about doing things. For me assassin felt very boring, where all my damage as single target really. AS tempest I feel like a real rouge, in terms of veriety in how I want to deal with someone. This is when I was a DD assassin. I switched to archer tempest, and WOW now the game is fun. You know, maybe I just fucking suck. but on the esiest difficulty, in the best gear for my lvl. I was STILL getting one shotted HAHAHA my rage was so high. its like game developers don't understand what "easy" means. easy should be easy both in terms of damage being dealt, and taken. IDK...the easy mode description said something like "for those who just want to enjoy the lore" thats what I want lol a hard game is not a fun game to me, I just get pissed. I like a LITTLE challenge, where once in a while I have to think. I'm starting to relies I suck at games.
This game has been sat forgotten in my library for almost a decade, I stumbled across it the other day and figured it has been neglected enough ! oh boy !! im glad I finally decided to play it !! Are these guides still viable with the current version of the game ( whenever the last patch was rolled out ) or have there been too many changes for these to be valid in 2023 ? I know Knight Enchanter had a very unpopular "Nerf" in the past but it still seems OP as hell for me !
In case you need an answer still, due to trespasser DLC skills got new upgrade options, stuff got nerfed, etc. If your playing on the most recent version, definitely look around because some guides are outdated, tho they should still kick ass... probably. I have an old copy for the 360 that never got updated so the flask of fire focus bug still works there.
Great video! It's great using this build, but when I leave the ai to control sera, it seems that she keeps getting injured too quickly. Can you give some suggestions with the tactics and behaviors settings with this build? Thanks!
Thanks for the vid man! Always wondered how to use the Tempest build. Quick question, how in the world are you shooting 3 arrows at once? Is that a skill, or a weapon you picked up? Answers would be appreciated :)

KineticGTR its patched, spent my points to see myself. 1000 cuts won't activate after flask of fire.
Jurrian dz it isn't patchd u dumb fuck u use flask if fire first the do 1000 cuts not after u use 1000 cuts god people sometimes
Jake Matrix i used flask of fire. All my skills were "free" to use except for 1000 cuts because it drains focus.

Wow, I cannot imagine that was intentional for stamina cost to be the same as focus cost...that's insane.
Love the videos, Kinetic. My main is a 2h reaver as well, what sword are you rolling with?
I think Tempest is best suited for dual dagger, just saying
I already tried and it work really nice
you just spam flank attack + flask of fire, once it run out, switch to ice + twin fang, once it run out, switch to thunder + basic attack
by the time it finish, you should not have any moment to wait for next flask of fire
but my created character named ada from resident evil my favorite character was a huntress and I unlocked the tempest class as a specialization so I am very strong I love Dragon age
My Dagger Tempest build:
Pop Poison Weapons and Flask of Frost just before entering battle.

Daaaaaaaaamn! The health!
I also use this layout and yes he is right it's unstoppable
It got patched though?
beste Build thanks man
nice build build what bow are you using
Can you make a video guide for the best party? You have all these awesome class builds but what are some good class combo's to use?
well for me the best party members are: Cassandra, Viviene and Sera or Varric (both of them are the best rogues).
Best party is really a matter of personal preference. Ideally though, you almost always want to run one of each class in your party. I like two Warrior, Mage and a Rogue.
champion, KE, tempest + anything
KineticGTR I use the same party setup. It took me a while to figure out the AI settings, but once I did, I ended up using Iron Bull, Sera, and Vivienne. My I was sword and shield at first, but changed to two handed reaver after seeing your reaver vid, so I replaced iron bull with blackwall. Now I'm working on an archer. Thinking about going assassin and putting Cole in my party, I hear he is good.
Raymond Shoemaker Grammar errors, won't let me edit, please ignore.
Its really powerful.
i hope artificer is next omg

Yes, I know that it works with all focus skills, it's just that Thousand Cuts gets the most "attention".
David Boggs
I agree that TC is ok in early and mid game, but have you seen the tier 3 focus version on a High Dragon?
I wanted more control, and the ability to do MASSIVE aoe damage. and with TC explosive+poison +leaping shot x3? hahaha
yeah, I like tempest because there are many combos, and interesting ways to go about doing things.
I'm starting to relies I suck at games.
i have a question .....did the archer builds also work that good on varric with his bianca ?
very OP
God remember when flask of lightning used to let you walk underwater and get out of the map
Nice Video TY! I have a question, how do i advance thousand cuts to tier 2
Which bow is that?
Great vid as always. Any chance of a tempest guide for dual wielding rogues?
Can u do a video on all the dragon locations please
Gues it has to be updated all the build vids! I live them non the less
Jack of all trades Tempest Archer. Not bad but you KNOW we need to see how it stands vs dragons...
Ahhh.. The good old thousand cuts.
I like the build but I would swap out the poison dmg for leap shot
Noooooooooo I waited so long for the tempest build and then u make it a tempest ARCHER ;-;
I'll see about doing a DD Tempest sometime :)
KineticGTR What bow are you using in this video?
Eric Hollingsworth Longbow of the Griffon i think.
Thank you!!
Eric Hollingsworth Anytime. =)
Unique bow that shoots 3 shots :)
KineticGTR What is the bow called?
KineticGTR how u got it?
it is Longbow of the Griffon.
