The original arcade version of the music had a lot more life to it, with a drumbeat and a few different instruments going. OK, I know that the NES wouldn't have been as powerful as an arcade machine back then, but I think they could have at least added a drumbeat or something. Doable even on the NES.

Confirmed realism! I was a paperboi once and had to dodge construction workers, angry grandmas, dogs, children playing, skateboarders, break dancers, tornadoes, the heckin grim reaper, sentiant AI lawnmowers, and rogue tires. It was especially busy on Sundays.
But who can explain so many front-lawn 'final resting places'? Were you able to slow down to read the tombstones, or did you have limited time to complete your route?
When the entire town is trying to attack you and you also have to navigate some kind of American Gladiators obstacle course, you need to ask for a pay raise.
I remember playing this on the GameBoy, so the music was slightly different and the picture was in black and white. This made it harder to see some of the obstacles before it was too late. Never made it past Tuesday. Also, without color, I had no idea that the guy waving his legs in the air even *was* a guy sticking his legs up in the air. I thought it was some kind of giant snail stretching and retracting its eye-stalks.
I only played this game once when I was a little kid at a friend's house. We couldn't stop laughing at how ridiculous it was, with everything in that crazy neighborhood attempting to kill you as you're just trying to deliver some damn newspapers. Good times. I wanted my own copy *so* badly.

I love how they took the break dancer from the arcade version and turned it into that looks like he's struggling to put his pants on upsidedown.
Always loved the packed stadium at the end cheering him on. One of the guys also doesn't seem to have a head.
