- In this lesson, I give you an explanation of phrasal verbs in English and how they are often used in conversation.
The class starts with a definition of what a phrasal verb is followed by the 2 possible forms (separable and inseparable)
The presentation then continues with a list of the most common phrasal verbs with "put". For each one, I explain the meaning and give several examples in the form of a dialogue with pictures.

Certainly! Let's revisit the phrasal verbs we discussed and provide context for each to aid memorization:
* Put on clothes: This refers to dressing yourself. (e.g., "I'm putting on my raincoat as it's about to rain.")
* Turn on devices: This means activating a light, appliance, or electronic device. (e.g., "Can you put on the light? It's getting dark in here.")
* Gaining weight: This means becoming heavier. (e.g., "I need to exercise more; I've put on weight since the holidays.")
* Putting something on: This can also mean "applying" something, but not necessarily to yourself. (e.g., "Tina is putting on lipstick before her night out.")
* Putting on an event: This means organizing a performance or gathering. (e.g., "The school is putting on a play to raise funds for charity.")
* Putting something off: This means postponing or delaying something. (e.g., "We had to put off the meeting due to a scheduling conflict.")
* Putting something out: This can mean extinguishing a fire or publishing information. (e.g., "The firefighters put out the fire quickly." or "The company is putting out a press release about the new product.")
* Putting someone up: This means providing someone with a place to stay. (e.g., "My cousin is visiting from out of town, so I'm putting her up for a few nights.")
* Putting up with something: This means tolerating or enduring something unpleasant. (e.g., "She puts up with a long commute because she loves her job.")

HELOW TEACHER! I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU? WHY WE SAY . HE PUT ON THE TELEVISON . BUT DO NOT SAY .HE PUTS ON THE TELEVISON.?
Ok ..it's past tense
You did not put weight on as i thought
sir, it would be very helpful if you give us an overview in "default description field" so that we can just revise the whole topic by just reading the "default description field"
OK Sir.
Thank you so much sir...
Thanks for this lesson, could you please tell the difference between these two sentences; i put up with Sara and i can't stand Sara.
Many thanks sir! 😊
If you say "I put up with Sara" it means you tolerate her behaviour. If you say you "can't stand Sara" it means you do not like Sara. Now I feel bad for Sara and I don't even now her ;)
Very nice voice, I love the accent from natural English native speakers ☺️

Mark hates his job ,he doesn't have the carriage or inclination to change it ,so he puts up with it, on the other hand; Jane is a bit more daring , since last two years she already has changed a few jobs. She says , "it is hard to settle down ,not knowing what your perspectives are .
If we want to stop the TV, can we say i put off or i put out the tv? Or what's the best way?
We would usually say "turn off the TV" or "switch off the TV".
Personally, I prefer "turn off the TV".
Andrew

I m used to say "switch on/off the light"and turn on/off Tv. Is this phrasal verb "put on" more formal or what?
Pedja Bojic you can use both... switch or put
Yeah,It's obvious that u can use both of them but which one is commonly used in spoken lang.?I've rarely heard put on/off the light, for example. So,why would I use it?
Using 'put on' for the light is not more formal, it's less common--just another way of saying it...
