SAME honestly I was literally so scared of my teachers and I wish someone would’ve forced me to talk with them earlier on in HS. I found that after u talk with them a few times it gets less and less scary every time and eventually you get more used to it :)
My dad told me to talk to teachers too at the beginning of the school year. He also made me write a thank you note via email on at least one thing they helped me improved during the year after finals. I've noticed the teachers are more willing to help me and cut me more slack then some of my classmates and friends. I had a research log due, 20+ pages, one teacher reviewed my paper made some helpful recommendations. Another kid in the same class asked her also, she told him "read the rubric everything is there." Letting them know what you want to accomplish, makes it so they help you find ways to get there. You're right on when with that. I do the library thing at school, but since I come from a charter school, there are only a few of us that know each other. Now with Soccer, I have a few more friends, so I'm going to try to work on my friendship at lunch too. Maybe they'll study in the library with me :). Great advice on everything, thanks.
So true with the teacher thing! After all, they're human and would develop feelings for students they like and dislike. With the lunches, that's a great idea. Usually, I study with people who are in my same "hard" classes -- like BC Calc and AP Chem, bc they tend to be the most motivated. We might not hang out outside of school, but since they're motivated, they're still great study buddies. Good luck! 👍
(Hehe to save you time) 1. Talk to your teachers 2. Develop a self-focused attitude, disregarding other students or their opinions of you 3. Lunch Time- always keep track of time & utilize the time to dedicate it to academics; basically spend it to study and hang with friends Also: Let go of superficial friends 4. Focus on tests and even if you might not be prepared, pay attention and get through it. (Basically do you best and reflect on it after) 5. Don't be afraid to quit sports or clubs/activities you are unsatisfied doing 6. Keep a journal & planner to reflect in 7. To prevent any distraction, put your phone away & turn it off or on airplane mode (helps stop procrastination 8. Stop wearing about what you wear, NOBODY CARES, school is priority 9. Have a consistent & nutritional/healthy breakfast 10. Don't compare yourself to others!!!!
You 100% succeeded with both giving advise and storytelling! The editing and like the "bits" were also great! Overall the video was very fun and had a great flow to it.
Iris, thank you so much for taking the time from your day to make these videos!! They have had a great impact on my life helping me become a better student and especially a better person!
Remember that you are your own person! You have your individual passions and goals! Comparing yourself will not only make you unhappy, but will make you think you are not good enough, when you are! Try your best. Do your best, trust that you are enough, that you are smart, capable, and you can do whatever you put your mind too! Your peers are there own person, and you are different. What you guys do will not be the same! And try not to think that. "Ok, they will get whatever they want because they have better grades, better extracurriculars, more awards." Tell yourself that you should trust what you do and that you have your own achievements and goals. You're amazing the way you are! ❤️ P.S Sorry for the run on sentence!
hi! i loved this video! i really needed to hear some parts, especially "stop comparing yourself to others." I've been struggling with that a lot lately and this was a really good boost. plus i think you're an amazing storyteller!! 😊
Thank you so much for your video!! You are just so energetic and enthusiastic about the things you talked about. Really appreciate and admire people like you who share your insights and help those who have aspirations and potential with confusion.
I've been watching ur videos a lot these days Iris, as well as other college students' vlogs. Honestly speaking, 你讲的内容真的很干货也很有用!好多经历和建议跟我有很多共鸣,给了我实践的内驱力 :) I know I shouldn't be comparing but just wanna say you are one of the BEST!!
I am a new subscriber and I love your content!!! You motivate me to give my college apps my all next year and get into my dream school! By your other uploads, I am assuming you chose Stanford as your college? Congratulations on all your acceptances, you deserve them! Much love, and I hope I don't die during college app season next year. :)
Hi! Thanks for stopping by this channel :) Find out in the college decision reveal video I just uploaded today 😉good luck with college apps next year, you really got this 💪
Hi, i do fencing, play 2 instruments, and am learning 3 languages. I also really love origami. Do u think i could get into an ivy leage? Whats your advice for a passion project?
My lunch at school is only 25 minutes I wish it was an hour. I also strongly dislike almost all my teachers and I suck at starting conversations. But I’m going to try to start talking to them. All my friend are toxic but I’ve been friends with them for too long and idk how to make new friends. :/
I had a few toxic friendships and they are really hard to leave because they make you feel lije a monster for doing so, but now that I've cut them out as kindly and not angrily as I can i feel a lot better. Even if you feel like it's too hard to make new friends its a LOT harder with people weighing you down. Just be you and be free even if you feel lonely or regretful at times. Let yourself blossom, as the only person who is in control of that is you.
I just used the Barron’s and Princeton Review prep books and subsidized with some UA-cam videos/online searches!!! No, it wasn’t part of my school curriculum
Did your high school allow you to add it as part of your college application or report card? Thank you for always replying! You have no idea how much you are helping me. ♥️🤗
@@viankachetty1100 It's not on my school report card, but I have an AP Score Report from CollgeBoard. There's also a section on the common application that allows you to list test scores, so that's where I included it. And of course, I'm glad you're finding this channel helpful!
Hello Iris, I am taking a difficult college course along with several APs. I have trouble keeping up in that class and I never have any motivation to do work. Whenever I plan to do it, I end up doing something else. Could you please give me some advice? If so, I would greatly appreciate it. Thx
I’m think about starting a free online tutoring program but I don’t really know how to reach out to other people and also is it quite dangerous? I want to make the impact more than just in my school but I don’t really know what to do.

Hey! colleges don't see your middle school transcript, and you can only list extracurriculars from 9th grade onward. Therefore, don't worry about middle school. Think of it more as a starting ground. Middle school is a great time to get a jumpstart (for me, I took extra maths in middle school lol and that helped me get more APs in high school). You got this, don't stress too much, and just do your best and don't worry about the rest!
@@irisfu6929 what about highschool classes in middle school? I took algebra 1 7th grade. 8th i took geometry, algebra 2, and bio. Will colleges still not see those

Just start talking to someone! If you see that you have a shared class, talk about the class. Talk about common interests. Anything!
A lot of my clubs have competitions were we have to form teams. This is great way to connect with people! And if not, ask your club-mates some questions, be active, people will notice you.
i cant wait because im SUPER good at drawing and in art class im gonna show everyone that i can get popular by giving everyone free drawings
after being homeschooled,

Asia Coleman you should be able to pick at most schools, but this is very school dependent
