Yes, podcasts can be really difficult to follow. I would recommend doing listening exercises on the British Council website. Also, listening to podcasts specifically made for English learners. I recommend Luke's English Podcast.

Find a community of people within a certain hobby and see if they want to talk. Also, finding an English teacher :)
