Hi Papercraft Panda! Jim from Madrid, Spain (a wildlife - nature artist and a New Yorker expat living abroad).
GREAT VIDEO!!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
    I really mean it!
When you have an artist's budget DIY projects become the norm, not only due to costs but also because you can use the best materials you need in doing so.
This is the BEST Coptic Stitch tutorial I've watched on YT. For real and I've watched a few already!
My artist's needs are NEVER met with commercially sold artist sketchbooks due to paper quality needed for Watercolour and Gouache (mainly), as well as for inking, graphite, pastels, etc.
Sketchbooks are a great Artist tool to explore ideas, new projects and new materials, as well as having them always with you wherever you go whilst keeping an organized record in time and with your own practice and exploration.
The problem with commercial sketchbooks is, for one, their COST (specially in the last years with inflation, manufacturing, logistics and taxes rising globally) and the fact that commercially sold sketchbooks do not meet everyone's needs (less to more experienced artists), reasons why DIY sketchbooks are real and future need for artists, since you can then choose the proper materials for YOU and your Art.
I've tried to make some sketchbooks in the past but they never came out as nice and beautiful as yours in this VIDEO, and now I know why and what I need to make them perfect for me.
So, again, thank you very much and for sure that I will pass on to other fellow artists this information (this video and your YT channel) that I already know are in need of assistance and help to cover the same daily needs as myself.
I just subscribed to your channel and thank you so much for TEACHING us in such a clear and direct way.
    Cheers from Sunny Spain!

    Hi,
Great tutorial, thank you so much🙏, from all the videos I've seen so far, I really learn from yours. Congratulations!! I really want to start this bookdining journey, but I'm Portuguese living in the Netherlands, so it's not always easy to find brands that exist in the USA. I have a question, the endpaper used for the inside of the covers can also be used as paper covers, right? Can the Vincent Van Gogh Scrapbook Paper/Decorative Craft Paper for example be used on the covers?

Hey there! Thank you for your support ❤️ Great question. Yes! The endsheets used in the tutorial (the Italian paper with the whales) can also be used as cover paper. Most of the Italian papers I've worked with are all great for covers as well. To your second question, yes - most scrapbook papers I've worked with (the ones that come in big pads) are great for cover paper as well. I hope that helps!

The template is perfect. How did you make the bullseye in the center of the black marker. It’s perfect and makes the hole punches uniform. My problem is the darn template. Thanks

Hello PaperCraftPanda ❤ Thank you so much for this tutorial, it was very helpful. I do have 1 question: I see 90% of people attache the 2nd signature to the front cover before adding the 1st signature in last. I’ve always wondered: What’s the reason behind doing this, rather than sewing all signatures (including the top final one) and adding the cover by sewing it onto the final signature? Is it a structural thing or visual aesthetic thing?
