  • Artificial Intelligence seems to be everywhere these days. And it definitely affects the careers and jobs of artists. In this video I am talking a little bit about my concerns, what AI means for musicians and music producers and what the potential upside of it could be.
Resources I talked about in the video:

    Suno: suno.com/
    Björk Quote: / 1105269793694746
Also I really enjoyed watching a video by Taetro where he talked about AI, which inspired me to give it my own twist and thoughts: / @taetro

Hi, thanks for the video, I think maybe some people are making this all too serious, and i suppose for good reasons - why not have fun with it? I have been on udio on and off for about 2 weeks now, put together about 19 tracks of the most absurd and funny music (sure, only to me), i just went nuts with custom lyrics on Udio, great fun, music that I would never have a chance in hell of ever hearing in 'real life' by other artists - nor do I have the capacity time or skill set to do so on my own; again, none of it has any purpose or need other than a good laugh for myself and perhaps a friend or two, and perhaps in doing so manage to 'inject a little soul' into what would otherwise be (i.e. write me a jazz love song about broken hearts etc.) - anyway, just a thought for musicians and non musicians alike, have a laugh?

I agree 100%, I think I could be both, inspiration/stealing because it is those two things, but our taste is what makes it new and that touch that soul can only be achieved through humans. Great video!

These music generators are currently spitting out random results so your input almost has no value, each generation is just a roll of the dice. No art there. But imagine you have deep control over the result. It becomes a tool again.

Yes you nailed it on the head! I think they could potentially become tools again if you have much more detailed controll. But without controll it seems kind of pointless from an artists perspectice. Thank you for your comment!

Why? Why would I care how music was made? And no, Suno or other AI's don't take nearly as much as they give. People with ideas or lyrics in their heads or their drawers can and will now "produce" or prompt their vision. And they will publish the music for themselves to Spotify and they will listen to it. They do not care whether it makes a single dime of money because they get their income from their jobs. I don't know if you are naive or if this sentiment that people would actually care about the origin of the music is the hubris of "real" musicians blinding them. There is no soul in your expensive and time consuming music, just more processing and editing. In a year Suno will surpass you with the audio quality and you will be left with "well I think my music has more soul" against millions of people enjoying the full democratization of music creation. If you do not embrace Suno or other AI tools, you are only hurting yourself. Stop thinking that it is mandatory for yourself to physically hit each key or note on some instrument. Instead, try to see Suno as the band that you are directing towards your vision. Later Suno will also get the inpainting feature which will allow editing different parts of a generation and it already was outpainting, which means you can already upload your actual singing or playing into it, and it will expand upon it. This can help you to see new ways of making the music, not taking anything away from you. You can then put the result to your 1000 usd autotune DAC machines and call it a song with a human soul for all I care.

@@JonasFasching In the next video I would like to see you trying to collaborate with Suno, like upload your old demos or some experimental sound bytes into Suno, use the extend feature and see where it goes. Or record your singing and make a duetto with Suno's female voice. If you just reject new ways to express your creativity because it's not what has always been, you start sounding like a religious person, not like a visionary artist.
