A Case For Artists In The World Of AI

Artificial Intelligence seems to be everywhere these days. And it definitely affects the careers and jobs of artists. I Recorded The Sounds Of This Tower (It Sounds INCREDIBLE)

Come with my on a trip, to the top of a mountain on a beautiful sunny day and let's listen to some nice sounds together. Ps: I even recorded an anthill on the way. Subs...

🔥 that bass!
:)
Is that bass from the Volca? Which box please Jonas?
@@elmegade3 Yes, all sounds are comming from the Volcas. The Bass comes from the Volca Bass, the drums are from the Volca Drums and the little pad from the Volca Keys. All linked and recorded into the MixPre 6 by Sounddevices. They acutally sound pretty nice together in my opinion. Only did some mixbus compression and equing afterwards, other than that no additional effects or mixing :)
Great to see what you can do with a single little synth like this 😮
Yeah its amazing! Thank you for watching :)
Please realese It. It is the think
Thank you! I'll consider it :)

wow great track bro 😎
Thanks a lot Burak! Really appreciate it :)
😂😂😂😂 du bist wahnsinnig kreativ...Liebe Grüße Fabian
Danke Fabian! :)
always great stuff...love the song
Thank you so much Jeremy! Means a lot to hear from you
Hi, thanks for the video, I think maybe some people are making this all too serious, and i suppose for good reasons - why not have fun with it? I have been on udio on and off for about 2 weeks now, put together about 19 tracks of the most absurd and funny music (sure, only to me), i just went nuts with custom lyrics on Udio, great fun, music that I would never have a chance in hell of ever hearing in 'real life' by other artists - nor do I have the capacity time or skill set to do so on my own; again, none of it has any purpose or need other than a good laugh for myself and perhaps a friend or two, and perhaps in doing so manage to 'inject a little soul' into what would otherwise be (i.e. write me a jazz love song about broken hearts etc.) - anyway, just a thought for musicians and non musicians alike, have a laugh?
I really like this approach, just messing around and having fun with it. I think thats the way to go! Keep it up, thanks for watching and your comment!
Theft.
Thanks for watching and sharing your opinion!
Why? Why would I care how music was made? And no, Suno or other AI's don't take nearly as much as they give. People with ideas or lyrics in their heads or their drawers can and will now "produce" or prompt their vision. And they will publish the music for themselves to Spotify and they will listen to it. They do not care whether it makes a single dime of money because they get their income from their jobs. I don't know if you are naive or if this sentiment that people would actually care about the origin of the music is the hubris of "real" musicians blinding them. There is no soul in your expensive and time consuming music, just more processing and editing. In a year Suno will surpass you with the audio quality and you will be left with "well I think my music has more soul" against millions of people enjoying the full democratization of music creation. If you do not embrace Suno or other AI tools, you are only hurting yourself. Stop thinking that it is mandatory for yourself to physically hit each key or note on some instrument. Instead, try to see Suno as the band that you are directing towards your vision. Later Suno will also get the inpainting feature which will allow editing different parts of a generation and it already was outpainting, which means you can already upload your actual singing or playing into it, and it will expand upon it. This can help you to see new ways of making the music, not taking anything away from you. You can then put the result to your 1000 usd autotune DAC machines and call it a song with a human soul for all I care.
Thanks for your comment, really appreciate it! I'm really curious now what the future holds for us. Thanks for watching
@@JonasFasching In the next video I would like to see you trying to collaborate with Suno, like upload your old demos or some experimental sound bytes into Suno, use the extend feature and see where it goes. Or record your singing and make a duetto with Suno's female voice. If you just reject new ways to express your creativity because it's not what has always been, you start sounding like a religious person, not like a visionary artist.
@@Caldria I really like this idea! I might actually do that :)
Yeah people also like connecting to the artists.
Thanks for watching and 100% agree :)
These music generators are currently spitting out random results so your input almost has no value, each generation is just a roll of the dice. No art there. But imagine you have deep control over the result. It becomes a tool again.
Yes you nailed it on the head! I think they could potentially become tools again if you have much more detailed controll. But without controll it seems kind of pointless from an artists perspectice. Thank you for your comment!
I agree 100%, I think I could be both, inspiration/stealing because it is those two things, but our taste is what makes it new and that touch that soul can only be achieved through humans. Great video!
Thanks for watching and your comment. Yes, happily until now soulfullnes is reserved to human beings...
hello, my name is your nuts fushing
Cool place to record) I think if you want a "metallic" sound, the exciter (stick) should be metallic. Otherwise, the whole metal sound is muffled.
Hey there, thanks for watching! Good point! Will remember that for my next session. Thanks for your comment :)
@@JonasFasching You're welcome) You have interesting stuff
@@public_hell Thank you!
I'm curious if the rock sound was peaking and causing a more crunched noise.
Hey thanks for carefully listening! As i remember it wasnt peaking, but it was the actual sound of it :)
I am jealous. Here in the US, any tower like that would be behind a locked fence with all sorts of "no trespassing" signs. Great job Jonas.
Hey Michael, yes it's really amazing that this is open to the public. And your comment makes me appreciate this even more, I never think about it when I go there. So thank you for watching and your comment!
love it bro
Hey Dodo, merci viumau! Ds fröitmi sehr vo dir zghöre <3

Thank you for your comment! Really appreciate you liked it.
Good tips as always dude! I think finishing songs and going through the full process even if the outcome isn't as good sounding as you want it to be is HUGELY important. I've noticed myself that there as certain elements that I'm not super confident in, but am improving on by just doing them and being satisfied that I tried to get through them - even if it's not perfect. That being said, I am sitting on like 5 tracks that I haven't released yet because I keep plugging away at them lol 😬
Thanks a lot mate :) Happy you liked it. Yes, i think to improve it really helps to always go all the way through the process. It's also very rewarding to finish something I guess and can be a really nice boost of motivation going forward. Hehe nice, let me know when you released them. Looking forward to hear it!
@@JonasFasching SO rewarding! So true about the deadlines too, such a good tip and one I often forget about. Thanks homie, I'll be sure to send em your way :)
I recently forced myself to go thru a couple of 1TB hard drives of my past music work and discovered I have almost 157 songs that are either half finished or a case of: I have a really good hook recorded but never finished the rest of the lyrics I have a beat or instrumental that I love so much it gives me chills listening to it yet I never wrote lyrics for it I don’t know if I’ll ever see any of them through to the end though ☹️
157 is definitely a LOT! I wish you good luck with all of that and i really hope you can release some of it soon. I really like to listen to instrumentals as well so you could also release them without lyrics. Thanks for watching 🙏
Hey Jonas, thanks for sharing! Good luck for your channel, just subscribed :)
Hey there, thanks for watching! And thanks for the sub too, really appreciate it. :)
Great content. Can I join your team to create eye-catching thumbnails and develop our channel?
Thank you. But i am not interested :) Wish you good luck!
Thanks!
Thanks for watching and you're very welcome :)
man, i miss that first studio <3
Yessir <3 Ig o. Isch super nice gsii
Man your channel is too underrated
Thank you, really appreciate it!
@@JonasFasching you make sick videos and beats with a lot of effort man too bad I won't be able to watch em when the release for the next week
very cool! the music is amazingf, but the filmography is great, too! interesting to see how traffic flows in o5ther parts of the world. I only suggest that you should have chosen a lower speed for the ants, they were moving too fast to compare to the humans. Perhaps get them to travel across the screen at around the same rate, rather than having the same real-world time dilation.
Thank you so much for tuning in! Really happy you liked the music and the video. And great input about the ants. You really made a point here. Great feedback, really appreciate it.
What setup do you need to use the microphone?
@user-Red528Smoke Hey there, thanks for your comment! This mic is powered with +48v and it has a xlr output. So you need some recording device which supports that. I used the MixPre 6 by SoundDevices for that, but you could also use a much cheaper recorder. I really like this mic for experimental field recording!
Now I wanna see you make beets 😋 with your skateboard.😊😊😊😅
:)
Ich finds nice !
Danke! :)
Mega gutes Ding!!! Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland! Kann man dich irgendwie kontaktieren?
Vielen Dank! Schön gefällt es dir 🙏😌 Ja sicher, am besten via Email: jonas(at)jonasfasching.com
Great info i didnt know i needed to know as i approach finishing my first song for my band. I just play instruments and have very little insight into the commercial end of things. thanks!
Awesome, Im happy this helped you a little. I wish you all the best with your band! Happy creating.
Great video with lots of information. It is amazing how you boiled all of the essentials of releasing music into such a short video. And the bonus content was absolutely great. I really appreciate the information about Publishing rights and why joining ASCAP or BMI is necessary. I have listened to so many videos about these subjects and I have come away not really understanding much, and often, even more confused. Your video has clarified the issues, and swept away all of my confusion.
Hey there. Thank you so much for watching and your kind comment. I'm really happy I could shine some light on this topic. I myself struggled a long time to understand this with the publishing rights, and I think there are many artists who would benefit if they would know this. I don't know how the process is to sign up with ASCAP, but in Switzerland with the SUISA it was acutally quite easy and you only pay a sign up fee at the beginning, and then you can start registering your songs. Anyways, I wish you all the best. Stay inspired :)
@@JonasFasching personally, I would appreciate a mention about the process for copyrighting one's songs. As one starts to put one's songs out into the public, I believe it is very important to have one's songs copyrighted, .
Dude!! This is an incredible spot and setup! Not gonna lie, I'm only a tiny bit (a lot) envious haha. Kudos for the tour :)
Hey mate! Thanks a lot for watching :) Yes, i really love it too. Couldn't be more happy with such a nice spot.
That's a good work! You are awesome
Thank you very much!
Hey there, thanks for watching! Two things I wanted to add: 1. It's also possible to release music on Soundcloud and Bandcamp which is free and very easy, and to start with your first Songs this might be also a good idea. In this video I just highlighted the solutions if you want to get your music on a streaming service. But Bandcamp can be a very good alternative as well. 2. The book I mentioned is called "All I Need To Know About The Music Business" and not "Everything..." Check out the link in the description if you haven't found it yet.
👍
Thats cool
Thank you!
The idea was cool! And the filmography is pretty nice! This is a cool video! But dude that beat sucks so much...
