I never played a guitar. But, all over UA-cam there is nothing but love for the Gretsch Boxcar.......I just bought one for my first guitar......I should have it in my hands in another few days.....Can hardly wait!
Congrats Bob! Great choice. UA-cam is full of excellent tutorials. Guitar is not easy to learn. Be patient with yourself. Look into "open" tunings too. They can put the fun back into it.
Buy it. I really love mine, even tho i'm a rather lame player. The build quality and tone, for that price, is unbeatable. It resonates right into your body when you play. It's killer with a slide too.
@@PINEPUPPY I got one about a month ago and totally love it. What are your preferred strings for that guitar?. I've been playing around a bit and don't feel like I've quite found it's proper tone yet.
@@PINEPUPPY So have you? Been playing it more? I hope so. :) I got one months ago and absolutely love it. I also bought a Republic Clarksdale Special about a year ago and as soon as i got the Boxcar i rarely play the Republic. Probably will sell it. Now i want to install a pick up on my Boxcar....so i have the option to plug in.
@@wheninroamful short answer is No, sadly. Put together two compilation albums (one acoustic, one electric, posted under my Playlists) and then turned to gardening and woodworking. Glad to hear you are playing. As for the pickup, great plan . I was considering the same thing. Check out www.12barbluespickups.com
@@PINEPUPPY Hey, as long as you're creative and creating, no matter what the medium is, i think alls good. I love woodworking too, and making films, and writing poetry......If im not doing any of these, then i got to check myself. Looks like you got a fine slice of paradise, and i dig your music with the flutes too. Be well.
Thank you Corrado...very amateur stuff compared to your brilliant compositions and playing. I recorded this on Christmas day during a freak warm spell.. usually very cold with snow up to our butt by then!
It came with D'Addario EJ16 Phosphor Bronze Light, (.012-.053) and i haven't changed them. Haven't had enough time to play it as much as i'd like to yet. Sounds killer with a slide. Love it.
Thanks for the response. Was curious b/c strings that are marketed as resonator strings usually start with a 16, but that may be for the square neck guitars used in bluegrass
Just an ol' hippie crowdin' 70 who still loves playing, writing, and recording at home in my Appalachian cabin. Here's a link to my website: www.soundclick.com/bands3/?bandID=338862&content=songs Thanks again.
@@PINEPUPPY Yep, It ain't got me yet, but I am getting dementia can't remember anything. Cut my finger on a band saw and can't pick. How is everything in New York?
@@harrythewoollyman ok here. Just turned 71. Sorry to hear about the finger and especially the dementia. It's painless but scary I bet. Patty better keep a close eye on ya!

I have had one for about 12 months. Love it
Sounds pretty. Bright and crisp. Good for singing along with out any PA
Sweet it is. Good playin’!
Thanks. It's a great resonator for the price. I need to get it out more often.
This might be the coolest review on UA-cam right now. Wish I could join the band!
Rockstar @ 2:10. Good sounding axe.
very nice playing . happy playing along with a gretch alligator
Tried one of these the other day and loved it.

@@itsallaroundyou7085 The "best" strings is pretty subjective. Currently using Martin 12-56 set. They're ok but next set will be Elixirs.
Very Good !! thanks for the cool Demo. that's a perfect place to sit and play.
Thanks Anth. Not the greatest player but I have fun. It's a really nice reasonably priced resonator. I need to play it more often...
i've always love the sound of the resonators and Gretsch seems to sound best.

Vintage made in china
That's why it was $400 and not $1400.
Certainly got the right vibe🎸🦘👍
