    I was on laptop using touchpad so ye, you won't see my shitty skills there
    Used SFML & png for rendering, rest is all done through reading packets.
    Credits:
    - Sarka for giving me the idea to sniff packets and starting/setuppp-ping a bit the project :p
    PS: I know there is my IP address

    Can you have the sniffing machine work on another machine ?

    I use Wireshark for analysis, but it seems to be encrypted or what encoding is used

      I recommend reading through the leaked source engine sdk, it should give you an idea for the encryption and encoding

      the udp packets are encrypted. On official valve servers it seems impossible to get the ice key (encryption key) but community servers are using static ice keys and are vulnerable to such an attack. Its pretty hard to find the keys tho.

      @XutaxKamay  4 роки тому

      @@fredster4220 Yep the encryption is ICE, it is some xor fast algorithm. Technically, you can get the ice key for decryption because the private key for decrypting the ice key (I guess) must be stored inside your pc but I don't know yet if it's possible to get it through network, it all depends if the server sends the keys in clear, which I doubt. I've stopped my researches there but I plan to go in details about how works this SSL like encryption

    Dark Age of Camelot is another simple game that came out around 2001. There is already a packet sniffer / analyzer program called DaocSkilla for win32. ( there are similar programs for Linux as well ) Anyways DaocSkilla stopped working a-couple years ago due to the creator getting bored of updating the program every patch. DaocSkilla is open source and the creator encourages anyone to update their own to make it useable for themselves. I figure someone of your skill would be able to edit this program getting it to work with the the latest freeshards (private servers the gaming community has created.) Think you could do it?

      I don't know anything about this game sadly and it probably will ask me a lot of efforts/time to understand it for free so I don't know if I could do it or I could gain any benefits to it, but I'll check it out

    How well does vscode work for big c++ projects? I dont think I ever set it up correctly but from what I remember it just cant compare with big bloat IDEs like VS or CLion.
    Also linuxmasterrace

    • @XutaxKamay
      @XutaxKamay  5 років тому

      Surprisingly it works well with some extensions.
      But the fact that Microsoft have their IDE so well integrated in windows that yeah, it is not better than it, but it's still very good for me. I heard people using like eclipse or netbeans or even qt for c++, but it didn't support c++17, or I've encountered some others problems. I've never tried CLion though because it wasn't free
      QtCreator is one of the best I've used though

    Use Windows 7

    • @XutaxKamay

      Because It's So Much Better
      More seriously, I've been using windows a lot in the past, like for many people,
      but once you get used to linux, you realize how much customization you can put into it. It misses drivers support maybe and games, but honestly, if you ask me to choose between Windows and Linux, Linux is always the choice for me.

      The games situation on Linux is actually pretty decent. Many games do run nativly (such as all Valve games) and thanks to Valves efforts you can emulate a lot of games too.
      Linux just gets rid of a lot of stupid headaches like forced updates, privacy, being slow for no reason, setting up dev environments and above all going to the internet and downloading an executable from a shady website just to install a program for you.
