The weight (potential energy) of the initially added water lifts the water from the well. Water doesn't compress much, but it DOES compress. In order to overcome the losses in the system, more water (by weight) leaves the barrel, than enters the barrel. This is because the water that leaves the barrel is at higher pressure than the water which enters the barrel. Eventually the weight of the water in the entrance pipe will suck air into the barrel through the output pipe, and the process stops. You can still use this principle to "use water to lift water". You get more water out than you pour in, but this NOT "free energy" and it is NOT an eternity-machine. You have to fill the barrel by hand every now and then. You could also just have used a bucket to lift water from the well in the first place.... The laws of physics still apply, if you don't accept them, know them or understand them. Such is life.
It's the vacuum created by the water leaving that sucks the water up so it all depends on how much water can fit in the up pipes and how strong the barrel is. A valve and break bleeding kit could be used to prime it
@@buddyboyudon , it is not a vaccum, but an underpressure in the barrel. It takes app. 0.1 bar to lift water 1m.
