All these quick products to replace brazing. Nothing is as good as using pure elements that are non-reactive like copper and silver that you go back to your grandfathers work from 70 years ago and still doesn’t leak unlike synthetic man-made products that all have a shelf like they don’t like heat they don’t like oxygen they don’t like thermal cycling they all eventually giveaway and in technicians who are being pushed for time and profit majority of time overlook accuracy and go for the quick install and skip procedures that leaves us a few and disappearing breed of technicians who can actually breeze correctly and safely to come up behind and clean up the mess caused by these companies with the Quick Products so thank you very much. The quick connect products over the years have been increasing and becoming a cash cow revenue generator. My current project I’m on replacing all the quick connect fittings and piping in a six story hotel that has six 20 ton Daikin VFR systems installed. Only five years old they’re currently paying $20,000 a month to have the refrigerant topped off to keep the system running so the hotel can stay in business. They’re shut down cost and equipment replacement is running well over $1 million because somebody wanted a fireproof quick cheap low trained tech method of installing refrigerant fittings. So keep up the good work marketing and sales personnel pusher products have fancy videos with beautiful color brochures with lots of terminology and certifications proving your product is great because I myself stand 100% behind your Quick Products to replace brazing just because of its money generation factor later on down the future. Oh yes the contractor who installed the replacement low tech fittings on that hotel is bankrupt and that’s why I was called in behind him to repair his inexpensive method of replacing braise fittings. 👍
I'm just trying to picture how that meeting went down between the engineers & the big-wigs, prior to the development of The Zoomlock System: "Well, Fred I noticed that we've been brazing refrigerant lines for decades now.....& well I think it's high time we completely changed how it's being done. Sealed system repairs are pretty costly & customers complain about their out-of-pocket expenses when sealed system repairs are needed. Heck! Even if a compressor goes out in warranty, the customer still pays about a grand or more for labor & materials! So I'd like to hear from you & your guys about an alternative to all that....any ideas?...." "Thanks Jeff. Yeah, I agree. This whole 'several decades of brazing out in the field b.s.' needs to finally be put to bed. So me & my guys have been thinking about the whole cost thing that you just mentioned, & we think we might just have the solution...." "Well, Fred I am dying to know, so would you kindly just share your idea with me?" "Ok John....but this idea is......pretty slick to say the least, so you might just want to sit down for this one!" [John struggling to squeeze his pregnant looking belly between the arm rests of the chair & the edge of the conference table] "Alright John, here it is.....See it's real simple. We design this copper fitting crimper tool for 3 Grand, & these special copper fittings for at least $25 a pop! .....That way the customer pays MORE for repairs because we're raping both the AC companies AND the customers with the ridiculously high prices for it all!" [John starts shaking with excitement & his big belly nearly rattles his end of the conference table to the point of knocking all the empty coke cans & what's left of the sandwich party tray on the floor] "Oh my God, Jeff! That's genius! We're gonna give you a raise immediately & a real big Christmas bonus for coming up with that one!!" -& a month later......we've got Zoomlock. If this trade tries to outlaw brazing to force us as techs to buy this crap, I'll just run maintenance calls. I refuse to play these games of "Now I gotta fork out a few more Grand in tools to stay compliant with the ridiculous changes coming down the pipeline!" b.s. These chuckle-heads must really think that the average HVAC tech has thousands of dollars on any given day of the year to buy tools. The truth is that most of us are over-worked & under-paid & they expect us to just run out & buy a tool that costs 3 Grand?? Lay off the crack, guys.....geesh!
We use ours in building locations where obtaining hot work permit is very difficult and required working after the secure side of the airport was closed. We are able to work any time and no hot work permit is required. Also no need for hot work monitor or masking off smoke detector.
Seems like sliding insulation onto the line set will be much more complicated. I am assuming you have to slide the line size insulation up to the zoom lock fitting then cut a larger diameter piece of insulation over the fitting? I believe this will look like hell.
The Zoom lock works by using O-rings. Think about other devices that use 0-rings (like King valves) to control leaking in an HVAC pressurized environment? In time they leak because the 0-ring dries out. Why should the Zoom lock be any different? In situations where you can't use flame I can understand using them, otherwise no.
I know this is comparing apples to oranges, but here I go. I have seen air and water lines installed almost 20 years ago using this same technology using a Rigid Pro Press. Yes , I know .The pressures and applications are totally different but these have held up with no leaks.
Deburring and rheeming tool. Deburr is the outside. Rheeming us for the inside. Terminology matters. Or do you call supplies and returns sucks and blows?
Just as easy to braze (And at $3,000 plus $30+ per fitting Soooo much cheaper with a sure seal), especially with the deburring debris I always push nitrogen to flush contaminates while brazing. The only plus I see is no heat on the king valves (Saves water and shop rags).
& Samsung & LG already make a refrigerator with explosive R600a refrigerant (aka isobutane, or cigarette lighter fluid) So the Zoomlock is pointless to work on those systems.....& yes, (I know, it's stupid) but there are appliance repair companies that will replace compressor's on a system that barely holds 5 ounces of refrigerant, & has no access ports.
It is a good tool but you have to solder the outputs of the capacitor and the coil, you have to lower the tanks and the crimping tool. You have to fix the outputs of the capacitors and coil to do the complete job for now I prefer to solder
Its faster, doesn't anneal the pipe, no possible component damage from too much heat (but that falls under the "can't braze/solder" banner) no cool down time, no oxidation/flux contamination, recharge at site (customers rarely have gas bottles) You sound old school. (still ride a horse and don't drive a car? Outhouse?) Tech & systems can and do get better. TXVs? Meh!
@@eddiefoy3701 How many Zoomlock kits have you bought?.....1?......Zero?? None. Because the cost is not feasible. They might as well try to sell us on running service calls in a Ferrari! (Btw, I'm all for it as long as my boss buys the Ferrari)
let me see,,,,55cent coupling vs $25.00 zoom lock coupling. Why is it you purposfuly neglect to mention how expensive the cost for fittings. The large ones are over $100.00
That 2ah runs 100-150 fittings...per charge. How many do you do that you can't recharge at least once a day and need 2 full batteries. I know you don't work that hard to run through 300 fittings a day
You are doing all these steps such as perp work debarring, sanding and cleaning you may as well to do the last easy step of soldering, Then you would have much easier, safer and leak free connections. no need for all these fancy expensive tools.
I wonder how this type of connections would behave subject to vibrations, thermal expansions and contractions, soldering withstand very well under these conditions.
I am willing to bet that the slightest bit of acid in the system will cause every Zoomlock fitting to leak. & It seems like you gotta cut out every Zoomlock fitting to remove it. & Now that the Zoomlock fitting is removed, it's going to require not just 1 replacement Zoomlock fitting, but 2 replacement Zoomlock fittings to join both ends of the tubing back together....PLUS an extra section of copper tubing will be needed to run between the 2 replacement Zoomlock fittings. & considering that the CHEAPEST fitting is about $25, how do these guys expect a business owner to bid out jobs, when his/her cost for a single fitting starts at $25?? Because typically how economics work, is that you have to make a certain amount of profits to stay in business. & Customers don't give the job to the highest quoting company, so......yeah.....
So if they’re working on something different such as most residential homes. Lol. Where is that three-quarter? got em. Got a buy another clamp right out the gate
I would add this to my toolbag but the price for the tool and fittings is still too high.
This thing is awesome, we had reps from ZoomLock and Parker Sporlan come to Augusta Tech and demo this for us last month. It is awesome.
@Eliseo Erick No one cares.

lol THEN you braize it

Will it work with Milwaukee tools
Do these leak slowly over a decade or more? Are O rings good enough?
That looks like milwaukee propress
I wonder if they sell set of heads only & if it fits pro press or not.
The presentation is fine, but why add the music? It's distracting. Thank you.
its just too loud
I have the rigid propress. Can I just buy the zoomlock heads use it to brazepress

I have to question not having a 3/4 jaw. If you do mostly 1.5 - 3.0 Ton condensers/heat pumps like I do you have to shell out like $250.00 extra.

no supply houses in Boston area sell these, WTF?
How does this connect to the evap or condensor? I am sure both pieces do not come from factory with Zoomlock connectors installed on them
they dont
Does it matter what angle the fitting is in the crimp tool on a 90 deg fitting?
He did it with the 90 facing up.
This is aimed for for people who don’t know how to braze or solder.
For people who are afraid of torches?

what's the cost?
3k
$3j for the system plus $25-$35 for EACH 1/2" or 3/4" connector (Amazon prices).
i think i would trust it more if it was Milwaukee i mean i dont see many if any makita drills or tools yet alone batteries and only 2ah come on

$3000? I would stay with my brazing torch and it's 100% safe no leak.
Looks convenient but $3K plus fittings is major money over a proven process that costs nearly nothing. Depends on the ROI though.
I would have finished brazing those pieces in the first minute of this video
How long to get the Hot Work Permit, in hours? You haven't worked evidently in controlled environments or EMS environments.
Use at your own risk and your customer's peril. Go back and check your work with a real leak detector.
If an installer used this on my system over welding, Brazing or whatever, I would not be very happy
If you cant Braize, you shouldnt be in the business. simple cheap and lasts far far longer than this .
These things will eventually leak. No need to waste money on a tool I don’t need
It’s not crimping. It’s pressing. Crimping is done on pex 🤦♂️
No use getting a spokes person from ZoomLock. just let the guy do it by him self. Dude is irritating.
Andrew Bustamante I would rather hear the Zoomlock guy only without the added guy that doesn’t seem like he has ever done any actual work
This thing is too expensive
Great product but very boring video
I don't trust either one of these chaulk board heroes. Too bad I wish life was that easy. Time will tell, but not my time.
