The wing was on fire. No good place to land. Was forced to turn around Maybe broke off the landing gear when doing a rough landing. I thought he did a very good job in the face of every commercial pilot's worst nightmare. Reminded me of Captain Sullivan's river landing in a somewhat similar desperate situation a few years back.
The passengers here sitting over the right wing window seat must have had a tense moment or two. They prayed to God as did the skilled pilots in the cockpit. The air crew needs some accolades!

I stood outside my home one evening and I watched something similar to this play out. Only difference about what I saw was I didn't see the fire. Those pilots have so much training that this is difficult for them to-do, but not impossible.
We were on a flight that the was delaying. We got a small window in which to fake off and we did. However, it was like flying in a steamy bathroom. We9 couldn't see a thing. The pilots on that flight got a rousing round of applause when we landed. It was an instrument landing we were all thankful to our great pilots and crew.

We were on a bad rainstorm back from Florida back to Wilkes Barre / Avoca Airport and tried to land and then we felt us going up to the air again and had to fly around awhile until it was safe to try to land again.
