About Noel Gallagher:
Noel Gallagher was the main songwriter, lead guitarist and occasional lead vocalist of Oasis, one of the biggest and most loved bands ever to emerge from the UK. His band played a tremendous role in shaping and inspiring contemporary guitar music from the 1990’s onwards. Noel’s continued success with the High Flying Birds cements his position as one of the most prolific and successful British songwriters of the last 50 years.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds first emerged in 2011 with their eponymous album released in October of that year. The album went double platinum in the UK and has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide.
This was followed by ‘Chasing Yesterday’, released in March 2015 - the first album to be produced as well as written by Noel.
A third album, ‘Who Built The Moon?’, was recorded with renowned producer and composer David Holmes in Belfast and London, released in November 2017. There followed a series of multi-genre EPs released over the course of 2019 and 2020, all receiving
high critical acclaim.
June 2021 saw the release of ‘Back The Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021)’ - a Best Of celebrating a decade of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. This was the band’s fourth consecutive Number One album and the 12th Number One album across Noel’s career.
The highly anticipated fourth studio album, ‘Council Skies’, was released in June 2024. The album includes the singles ‘Pretty Boy’, ‘Easy Now’, ‘Council Skies’ and ‘Open The Door, See What You Find’
I'm from the UK, I was at work and I met an American girl that was studying over here. We only had 22
days together before her visa ran out and she had to leave, we knew we loved each other straight away and we made the most of every second of this 22 days we had together. But she had to leave! The night I dropped her off this song came out, I listened to it over and over... I'm not a soft guy(I cried like a baby) but this song means so much to me.
After an awful lot of traveling back and forth/ stress/ and money we finally got back together.
And now she's my wife!!!
I've never been so happy!!!!!
Nice man.
Beautiful!!!
What a top story
I have a similar story, and my wife is also American, except I'm French! Damn them visas!
Congratulations. Lovely story
Last song I listened to before waking up to fine my dad had passed away at a young age of 46, shine on dad, love you
I’m really sorry for your loss ):
How are you holding up bud
Sorry for your loss....Stay Strong.
Live4ever mate
Big love mate ❤️
Hearing Noel talking about this song was amazing. Saying how he was doing another run through, but he had no idea they were recording. So it’s far more personal than any other song. He wasn’t playing for an audience, he wasn’t playing for a recording. He was singing for himself. No exaggeration, no extra showmanship... just the beauty of the composition itself!
This is similar to chicago 98 then, he kist seemed to transcend the stage and be in his own world
Pin pin
Those are the real songs that touch souls, that’s what people donˋt understand it is not about the one who most beautiful sings or the one who can get the higher notes like if it were some kind of sport. Music is art and art is about singing with you soul and pouring out your emotions into a song that has a powerful meaning at least to you, that is the way how people can actually relate and really feel it. That is why Justin Bieber songs or any of those pop singers songs never are going to stand the test of time. Real music is art, fake music is just entertainment like a rollercoaster in Disney or like a marvel movie. Two different things.
Amazing ❤
How could he possibly not know it was being recorded. Has no one listened to the conversation he's having with the engineer? @@billdauphine951
Just casually drops one of the best tracks he’s ever done as a live off the floor bonus.
Some of his best tracks have been bsides or bonuses. Mind blowing.
Yeah man
I mean that kind of is his thing.
i know, but think on the bright side: this song is made to be like this. just a guitar, a piano and noel’s voice. raw, emotional, vulnerable, intimist. you can feel the emotion of noel’s lyrics and singing so clearly and so bright. and the quality of the recording is fuckin awesome. so, why not leave it like this?
No sweat of a ducks back for r kid Noel (Christmas) 🏌️♂️

One of the best songwriters of all times
Is it me or has Oasis, Noel and Liam Gallagher’s music helped with getting through mental health. It’s helped me a lot as I’ve suffered with depression in the past
That’s music magic
Mate I can’t even begin to explain how much it has helped me
Best therapy i had for a very long time, thankfully im in a far better better place than i was 😁
All good music should have some emotional effect on you. You can tell a lot about a person by what he/she listens to.
Father John Misty and The National for me
Noel is undoubtedly one of the best songwriters of all time, and we are so lucky to be living in the days that he is still alive and giving us more and more amazing music that not only sounds fantastic, but that inspires us to be strong in ourselves. Thank you, Noel, for getting me through every day when Im struggling.
two choices : 1 ' get a room 2, get a life!!
I often watch this video when I’ve had a bad day. There’s something about the blend of colours in this that accompanies the lyrics and makes it the perfect combination.
"And suddenly you can see Noel. You kind of see almost, a little boy or something, something innocent, and very pure. They're my favourite moments. It's like a door opens and a bit of light comes in.... and then the door's shut again and he's calling you a twat." Yes, this was another one of those moments.
Bonehead nailed Noel in that one statement

everytime he says "love lies dead in the water" it gives me goosebumps
If i Had a Gun, Dying of the Light, and Dead in the Water....probably the most sincere love I've heard in my entire life. His 3 piece is fascinating, we'd thought we wouldn't hear another one from him again? lol haha....right.
Absolutely. My top 3 also.
I remember when a soundcheck of Dying of the Light leaked on UA-cam. I waited a solid 3 years for it to make it onto the next album.
I may catch flak for this, but these three tracks are absolutely some of his best work of all time.
They certainly are some of his best, my personal top 3 too.
And now, Sail On
And I can say noe, Sail On.
Cried the first time I heard this song. Gave me the goosebumps just like when I heard If I Had a Gun. It’s emotional and magical at the same time.

Never thought any combination of words could articulate the pain I felt when SHE left; but this certainly did. Word for word. Thank you Noel for keeping me alive. You are an angel...
He's so fucking talented makes me wanna cry.

And with this song, I felt connected to Noel's soul again...
Javier Duran That is an excellent way to put it.
Javier Duran This is best sensation the world
Wish he did more like this. This is true noel product
you found the words mate
Felt the same, he doesn´t need more than an acoustic guitar, that´s him alone with his spirit and voice.
That is one of his best lines:
“I’m waiting for the calm as the storm is getting under my skin/
I’m trying to fix the hole in my head where the rain gets in.”
Just gets across so beautifully the vulnerability of humankind and yet also the randomness of it- out of nowhere the rain gets into his head
Defo a nod to beatles song
ELO lyric as well In Evil Woman
I feel ya mate. One of the best lyrics ever written 👍🎸
There's a few nods to the Beatles as usual 👏
Yes
I’m almost in tears. I just purchased this album for $6 at my local record shop, I have enjoyed the entire album and really dig the psychedelic vibe to it, but then this song starts to play. This song is honestly one of the most beautiful and brilliant pieces of music ever put to wax. I have been a huge fan of Oasis for all my life, this truly shows that Noel has always been the heart and soul of that band and I’m so grateful he continues to make incredible music like this. This album just became a jewel in my collection.
It's like you can feel the music he's singing in your soul help get through the day
What the name of the album please
Nothing can touch him when he writes like this... Breathtaking
Noel's music will forever transcend generations.
literally one of the best songs Noel has ever written, simple but so, so beautifully worded and so damn melancholic, like honestly who could listen to this without feeling heartbroken?
Easy to take Noel Gallagher for granted but he has such talent...25 years of great music and going as strong as ever....respect.
The ability to put together a lyric and a melody that goes straight into people’s hearts is what makes Noel such a legend. Hope he lives forever.
Noel has a natural musician talent.

Noel never ceases to amaze me with these simple acoustic numbers that sink deep into your soul and shake you from within. I think it's long overdue that he releases an album of all acoustic songs.
Noel just has this magical ability to write amazing B side tracks.. and the fact that he sung this without even realizing he was being recorded makes it even better!
This is a song worthy of the man who wrote Live Forever, Some Might Say, Slide Away, Don’t Go Away, Rock N Roll Star, Half The World Away etc. He’s still in there.
The greats of this world are defined by still writing a great song outside of their peak period years/decades later. They may not come as often as they once did, but the greats still have one in them. I've kinda lost tabs on Noel last few years so this has been awesome to be blown away once more by his talent. Lucky enough to be there at Manchester Nynex Arena 95, Maine Road 96, & Knebworth
I always think the same thing. Maybe he has another or two still in there too?
The reason why he can’t write songs like that anymore is because he stopped taking drugs.
@@adamhearne2825 Na it's because his life became too comfortable.
@@Arkantos117 that's a good reason too, I'd say there's an element of truth in both comments. He's at a stage where he has nothing to worry about. (except family) and he's doing what HE wants to do . Noel has it all worked out. 👏🍀
A song about fighting to make a relationship work in the face of immense financial hardship and watching it slowly slip through your fingers like fine sand. Surprisingly relevant and heartbreaking.

Sorry to hear that - deepest sympathies on your loss.
This song makes me terribly emotional. It makes me think of things I can never go back to, no matter how much I want to fix the past of my regrets. It tells me that it's done and I just have to live with those regrets.
It's heartbreaking but rather beautiful.

Keep the head up, life goes on, learn from it and be a better you 😊
Heard him on the radio saying he Sang this just for himself and had no knowledge it was being recorded..just as beautiful as talk tonight, epic track..
Pretty sure he was making that up. Noel likes to really embellish his talent. He works incredibly hard behind the scenes, but makes it look easy when the world is watching. Even in Supersonic Alan McGee mentions after he signed them Noel kept popping up with 'newly written songs' one after another such that he suspected Noel had written most of them years before they met.

I´ll be the first to admit that I cried heavily to the first time i heard this tune. Some of the lines hit home and with such a strenght that it made me reflect on my personal life. I get why people feel turned off by the earlier releases of this new album the chief is releasing. But rest assured, because as a singer-songwriter i can tell you that this apple hasnt fallen that far away from what we are used to hearing. We all change with time, and we experiment with our creations. Its natural, and we should be more open and accepting of this new face that Noel´s music has shown us. Its a whole new dimension that only adds to his artistry. I for one know that I´ll be buying his CD - and if he comes to tour in america any time soon ill buy a ticket to support his act. Happy holidays everybody.

Squirtle maybe.... :P
Underground906 he's been a huge inspiration to me. Despite the fact that I learnt of him a while after Oasis had disbanded. His humble beginnings and his dedication to his craft are what make him relatable to me - im glad I'm not the only one that appreciated his artistry; even when it's a bit formulaic for that many that still haven't found a way to relate. I keep a poster of him in my bedroom wall - just to remind myself that he's done it and so can I. Maybe you can see it one of my videos.
Shut your eyes and we’re back in 1996 again , fantastic
Shut your eyes and it feels all the more magical...
Crazy feels from this track. Life has been turned upside down for me. Struggling with on going depression everyday has brought my spirits down. Noel your music keeps me sane. This song is truly beautiful. It's keeping me going. Its helping me fight today and I know I'm not gonna give up and let myself go yet. This has been my way out. When you can't find yourself you've gotta dig deep and find the things that have made you happiest in life. Your music has done that for me. So I'll keep fighting, and taking it a day at a time. Thank you Noel. Incredible tune.

Noel Gallagher has written some of the most sentimental songs I have ever heard.
Oh man, this is the Noel I love... WHAT A TUNE!
McLovin
Was heading home last night and heard this for the first time when it randomly came on my shuffle. Listening to it and reading about how this recording came about just overwhelmed me. I listened to it easily ten times in a row. Makes me think of every girl that ever walked out of my life and how I manically tried to salvage something from the wake of all those failures, only to end up in a worse state than it was left. The way Noel sings and plays this, you can tell he really dug deep, tore his heart out, and put it on display for this song. Such pain and honesty in these words and chords. There are few songs I’ve ever heard that instantly captured me but this is easily one of them.
Amazing it was recorded live in a sound check and just forgot about it
If I listen this song live I probably break in tears. The Chief... He did it again. OUTSTANDING.
Noel: *casually drops one of the best songs ever*
Still Noel: It'll do, won't it?
This guy is fucking incredible, hats off
@Sparx B Liam as much as I like him is way more of a prick
It’s been a tough year , my marriage broke up and Glastonbury 2022 was a turning point. I was at Noel’s set with a friend I had only met the day before. The song resonated with me and brought on an epiphany of sorts, I burst into tears, I was so grateful my new friend was there, we hugged shared a moment. A new
dawn started from that one moment. Thank you Noel not many artists can have that effect.
I love everything this man does. What a song. The chief.
Yes, this song is a reminder of why he is a music icon. Good, Lord.
I thought the days of listening to a new Noel Gallagher song six times with a tear in my eye were long gone. This is beautiful.
This is why I love Noel Gallagher
This is the first time I’ve ever heard this and I feel like crying. It’s absolutely brilliant.
Same here. 😥
Had to listen to this fifty times before I could let go of it.
Still never.
What's really sad is that most people who like this song don't have anyone to call right away, at least in East Asia, so it's even more of a masterpiece. Thank you, Noel 🇰🇷❤️🔥
Some of the best words Noel's put into a tune, ever.
Ive just listened to this on the late late show amd and this version tops that by a country mile.
He put his soul into this amd props to the session pianist. Blew me away ❤
This song stirs so many emotions. Sadness. Happiness. Regrets. Melancholy. Nostalgia. Youth. Good times that are in the past and will never come back. Only Noel can deliver such a heartwarming gut-wrenching song with heavy lyrics and deep meaning with just a microphone and an acoustic guitar.

Stephen Sanchez. You can do a lot with a little. Less is more, so to speak. As Lou Reed once said in some far off land : " Four chords and you're into Jazz territory ".
Try to play and sing it like him. He‘s the man.

Noel is enlightened, the way he writes is so intuitive and relatable. It always pulls on something more profound than I thought my soul was capable of. Incredible
Noel's music just transports me to this alternative universe, where I'm running the story of a life I'd love to live, where the day seems crystal clear and the greenery in my nearest surroundings are very vibrant and everyone's getting on like nobody's business.
i promise you you'll find that place pal, there's no way you'll miss it when the time is right
Imagine being in that studio asking Noel to do another song and he comes out with this absolute tune. Hope this shows anyone who has doubted him recently that he's STILL and ALWAYS will be a class act and a brilliant songwriter. I'd bet any money that all the 'As You Were' etc etc comments will be non existent on this one.
Because we love him man, i just want him to be friends with his brother and take over the world one more time. NOEL AND LIAM ARE AT THERE BEST NOW

Some people say this man is overrated and look down on him and his songwriting as “basic”. Bollocks. It takes a true artist, a poet soul to pen a song like this. This is up there with the best: Smiths, Beatles, Springsteen, you name it. Hats off to you Noel.

Amazing how Noel just left this track to fade away in his past until someone reminded him there was a recorded version of it sitting in Dublin. This is what Noel sounds like naked and vulnerable at his best.
Arguably his best song since morning glory era. So glad to see that his undeniable talent is alive and well and when he flexes his muscles, all the pretenders to the thrown can sit down and listen to this.
The man is one of thee best songwriters ever. How many of our memories have an oasis or Noel Gallagher sound track?
Absolute Genius!
This is even better once you realize the history behind it and this recording of it.
krijg wat he played this not realizing it was being recorded.
This song could have probably never of been heard if it no one was around
We were doing a radio session in Dublin, in Ireland and it’s on UA-cam, and I’m doing The Dying of The Light. So we go there, we’re doing that and it’s all going great. The guys come out and you can hear the studio chatter and the guy is saying, ‘Can we do it just one more time?’. And I had just written the song a couple nights before and they were messing about, moving microphones around and it sounded so good in my headphones that I just started to sing that song. I had no idea it was being recorded, right? No idea at all. We get to the end and the guy says, ‘is that a new song?’. And I’m like, ‘yeah’. Fast forward a couple of years, we’re in a meeting in the office and they’re like, ‘Well, there’s no bonus material for this album, so what’re we gonna do?’. And I was like, ‘well we didn’t do any b-sides, so not sure what we’re gonna do’. One of my people happened to be in the studio that day and he pipes up and said, ‘What about that song you did in Dublin?’, and I was like, ‘what song?’, and he said, ‘that thing that you did that time?’. And I went, ‘yeah, I’m not gonna re-record that.’ And he said, ‘no, they recorded it that day!’. And I’m like, ‘get out!’. So we got in touch with the studio (RTE) and lo and behold, they recorded it. And what you’re hearing there is just me singing it for myself. When I heard it back, I was actually open mouthed at how good it was, and I thought, ‘I’m gonna put that on the album!’. Because that is such a special moment in time, and I might never re-record that because it’s such a personal moment for me. And it’s live, and it’s as bare naked as you can get. And it was a brand new song, and it really is a great tune.
This is possibly the best thing he's written in years. This is his genius.
I’ve been a massive massive fan of Noel Gallagher for 27 years now. Back in 1996 i watched the Brit awards for the very first time and there were these guys on there called Noel and Liam Gallagher, I had no idea who they were but i was instantly drawn to them, Noel in particular. Don’t look back in anger was the very first song i ever heard from oasis and i instantly fell in love with it and it’s still my most favourite song of all time to this day.
