Ramona lived just down the hill from us

But Bad-Eyed Thompson hung around the house

One day Ramona found herself with child
She couldn't speak her mom was goin' wild
Confusion reigned for half a day as one could understand
The county judge came down to take a hand
(And I think it should be noted here in the interest of justice
That the judge was acting a strictly unofficial capacity.)
The neighbors gathered round Ramona's porch
The judge said understand this is not a court
Ramona stood as all the breathless neighbors gathered round
Then she closed one eye and (puttt) spat upon the ground

I've been looking for this song for several years. It was only issued on Tom T Hall's "In Search Of A Song" album which my dad had a copy when it was first issued on vinyl back in the late '60's. He played it constantly and I never tired of it even though I was into funk and rock back then, still am.
Amazon finally has an affordable copy on CD I just bought for around $16. There's even more songs on that album that are just as good. He has a true gift for down to earth story telling in a song.

I have found a myriad of Tom's songs, including this one, on a site called Who's Famous Fix. You Tube owns it but it has a lot more on it than the main stream You Tube itself.

She was a slave for the most part..."no one would ask her out" " she cleaned and kept the house", she obviously wasn't recognized until some other moron took advantage of her and she allowed that.
