- The Euros is around the corner, with 41 days to go. Favorites have been named, dark horses selected, and all that’s left is for coaches to announce their picks for the tournament.
England is a heavy favorite for the 2024 Euros, having reached the final the last time in 2021. As always, “It’s coming home” fever is at its peak, and fans can’t wait to belt it out.
Will football, in fact, come home?
That’s unlikely, but we’ve all earned our delusions.
Now, for some backstory into the tournament standings…
Qualifications
England aced the qualification stages, putting Ukraine, Italy, North Macedonia, and Malta to the sword in an entertaining run of form that saw the Gareth Southgate-led side win six and draw two games.
Finishing on such a high means they get in easier pots, and Group C fits the bill. The Three Lions will face Slovenia, Denmark, and Serbia, with Serbia serving as the opening fixture on June 16th.
To answer the question, what will the England Starting XI look like for this curtain-raiser?
Formation
Gareth Southgate will likely stick with the formula that has brought him the most success since taking over as England boss. That means a 4-3-3 formation with some familiar faces.

Would have loved to see the bench as well.
Definetly should have Cole Palmer, Ollie Watkins, Ezri Konsa and Jack Grealish.
Grealish gets nowhere close to the squad. He’s been sooooooo mid this season.
Gordon goes as back up to Foden Grealish and Rashford shouldn't be anywhere near this squad
@@jamieturtle people only think that because he's been playing with Man city and had Doku played over him (dunno why they are equally good).
If Grealish was in a different team he would stand out a lot more and people wouldn't say he's had a mid season. (Plus other people in that England team have had worse seasons such as Maguire and Rashford).

Southgate is undeniably the best England Manager since Alf Ramsey.
He has proven his doubters wrong by bringing talented young players on form into the squad, and leaving out old favourites like Henderson, Rashford and Sterling..
There are deficiencies in defence mainly due to injuries, but he has no control over thst.

LB: Trippier (I refuse to play Chilwell)
LCB: Branthwaite
RCB: Stones
RB: Walker
LCDM: Rice
CAM: Bellingham
RCDM: Mainoo/Trent (Could go either way for me)
LW: Foden
Striker: Kane
RW: Saka
I’m hoping this is the team played in the next two friendlies. It will be a big chance to see new players like Branthwaite and Mainoo step up and handle wearing that England shirt or we could experiment with a more attacking mindset with Trent in midfield. A lot of experiments Southgate has to do in the next two friendlies but either way, with a team this stacked there should be no doubt that England are true title contenders this Euros.
Maguire will start alongside Stones lol.
Good team, but I would play Palmer instead of Foden on the left and Maguire for Branthwaite who is still with little experience and in the centre half position it is very important not to make mistakes. But your team is awesome too.

Phil Foden should start at 10, he’s proved himself in this role at City this season. Cole Palmer should be in there as well. Mainoo is good but Gerrard Bowen has to be in there. No room for Henderson.

Broski cole palmer is a every good right winger and he's in the form of his life. If he steps up and keeps on getting assists and feeds harry kane. he has the most goal contributions in the pl and has 40 g/a inn all comps. he should clearly start ahead of saka because he can take pens and acctually score them unlike saka in the last euros
