I know you are British so maybe you'll understand this: I lived in England until I was 9, and the only channels we had on TV were 1,2,3 and 4 (3 didn't work I seem to remember) My mom and I would rent movies from the store but I feel as though I never had much exposure to Disney films. This is the only one I remember watching constantly as a kid, and it wasn't until I moved to Canada that I started to see other Disney films. This film holds so much nostalgia for me, and I haven't watched it in years. I don't plan on seeing the new one (scared it might make me cry lol) at least not until its out on blu ray. But I will definitely re-watch this again. I'll check out 'Mediocre Men' podcast too. Awesome video though lol, this is the end of my novel haha
Ohhhh Dumbo how I have memories of sitting on my Nana's living room couch and popping this into the VCR, very very nostalgic to me. I have not seen any of the Disney live action remakes so far but who knows I may give Dumbo a try. Also the Frozen Walt joke was freaking awesome! Great job man as always!
Ohhhh man you haven't seen any? I actually quite like that fact, I wish I hadn't because the only one I've seen that I disliked is jungle book- which is usually the one people agree is the best
Remember watching this movie when I was a kid and really enjoying it! Was really interested in seeing the new one by Tim Burton, but didn't realize it was getting bad reviews, might see it eventually! Can you imagine what it would be like to get drunk with an elephant? Might be kinda fun :) Great video man
I think you appraised this film perfectly and scored it rather accurately. The shot of Walt Disney's cryogenically frozen head (which I'm convinced is actual bona-fide real life footage) came as a bit of a shock though. I personally feel that an elephant befriending a mouse is preposterous, as we all know that elephants are scared of mice. For that reason alone, I would knock a point off your overall score.
The live action ones been out for A WHILE now , it might not even be in cinemas anymore actually (I never ended up seeing it but i've decided to believe it's bad haha)
Probably because some of it doesn't really need to be there , I didnt know how short it was until recently- i'd have guessed the standard hour and a half
Haaa alternate universe!! Been meaning to catch this epic PlayCONtent review for days!! Not disappointing, GREAT! This movie is dear to the ol' black heart deep in my chest! The pink elephant scene is classic, but totally the animators just trying new techniques and playing around. It kind of haunted me as a child. Superb dissection my friend!😁✌💥
I actually JUST heard a review of the new Dumbo on the radio that pretty much called it another mediocre remake lol. Love your review of the original too! Made me lol as always!
Oh yeah it did look quite a bit dfferent for me too! especially the kid who akes fun of dumbo in my memory he looked identical to the ginger fella in Pinocchio but he really doesn't
Fully agreed. I love pretty much all Disney films, but some of the older movies have certain scenes that are either pointless or run on too long. (toooo many pink elephants....) Hope you do some more Disney review/critiques/ratings! :)
Oh yeah they do! this is actually relatively tame for pointless scenes compared to some of the earlier ones! snow white is super guilty of it. Thanks so much for watching and leaving this comment
@@PlayCONtent Haha you are sooo right. Snow White is a classic, and is historical in that it was the first colour animation Disney produced (think I'm right there?), but a lot of scenes become boring and interrupt with the flow of the "plot" ;) Then again, this could be just because it was the first animated film of its kind, and everyone got excited cause technology. XD Haha, I try to keep up to date with your uploads buddy :) Would LOVE to see you review The Room, Tommy Wiseau's classic. Think you would enjoy that. ;)
Ohhhh yeah I've genuinely thought about reviewing that! I've seen the diaster artist but never the room , I've seen the famous clips though that feels like...enough
Man i watched this movie so many times as a kid lol its fantastic idk about the new movie but if is half as good as the old one its gonna be really good . Great job Play!
I barely remember the animated movie - I swore off it in my primary school because I was bullied for my ears and the scene where the kid pulls on Dumbo's ears upset me. In saying that I have made plans to see the new one next week. I'll be taking tissues!!!
ohh that's actually really sad- I always got super uncomfortable in that scene too, I remember it being like a solid few minutes but when I watched the other day it was over in like...5 seconds
I have no idea why Disney would choose Tim Burton after “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. He spends to much time on making things weird for weird’s sake. Great video!
I get annoyed by the weird for weird sake things too he's apparently kind of lacklustre lately too BUT there are directors out there who would've been lacklustre BEFORE they made Edward Scissorhands ed wood corpse bride and frankenweenie which are all great. I kind of don't wanna see the new dumbo because I defend tim burton all the time based on his older stuff (even though Charlie and the chcolate factory is quite old now actually- and I'm with you on not liking that one)
Ahh Dumbo what a classic, have not seen it in such a long time, I don’t really know why the fact he can fly is a shock, there’s loads of flying elephants around my way..
Not really one of my favorite Disney Classics, but I would give it a watch every now and then of I happen to see it on. The drunk scene is pretty funny though, and probably a little creepy to small children. Lol.
Fantastic video man! Dumbo has always been one of those movies that I would erm...skip whenever I would marathon my Disney VHS tapes as a kid. There's nothing inherently wrong about the game, but I just found it not as interesting compared to the love stories and more modern musicals. I think this is why I'm not super excited about seeing the new Tim Burton Dumbo. Keep up the great work!
You're a stronger man than I am! I can't handle Dumbo. It has one of the saddest scene I've ever seen! Right next to Mufasa's death! I don't think I'll be able to handle the new one. I get sad just thinking about it haha
dumbo was one of my favorite movies a a kid. but if i watch it now, i cry. they did such a great job in the original, but i don't think watch the live action one. Disney has let me down with every remake so far.... 😅

Ohhh Dumbo! Long time no see.. This makes me wanna revisit it aswell! 😊🐘🐘

Very thorough review. I like how you make it informative and conversational.
Honestly only remembered this film for the Baby don't cry and Drunk Elephant scene, but damn are those two scenes so iconic.
God its that old? Awesome video! I loved the intro, and while it was a short video, it was good!
Wow. Its been decades since i seen this movie man! Such a great classic! Awesome revisit man!
Oh same for me it's probably close to 20 years , thanks for watching!
I remember watching this when i was little! it's bee so long since ive seen it. Thanks for sharing.

Dumbo is seriously a classic, so much so I don't want to see the new one so it doesn't ruin my childhood memory of it! Great analysis as always!
One of my most beloved movies of all times

THAT'S TRUE! damn how did this film get so praised with such ignorance of biological instinct?!
I love dumbo! My absolute fave lol I cannot wait for the live action version. Your commentary is awesome very well done as usual
The live action ones been out for A WHILE now , it might not even be in cinemas anymore actually (I never ended up seeing it but i've decided to believe it's bad haha)
I thought they were making a newer one like they are with the lion King and stuff lol
Oh yeah they made that a few months ago it didn't seem to be in the cinemas for that long - a lot of people really hated it apparently
I looooove me some Dumbo. Awesome video my man. Nice to hear a shout out for Mediocre Men.
Great work bro, awesome video, I will have to delve into the backlog :P
I completely forgot how short dumbo was, It seems weird to me that it's under an hour but I'm not sure why it felt so much longer as a kid.
Probably because some of it doesn't really need to be there , I didnt know how short it was until recently- i'd have guessed the standard hour and a half
Dumbo at least the original always made me cry
I don't remember ever actually crying at it but I don't think I'm a robot so I'm gonna claim it definitely mustve happened in me youth

The pink elephant scene is classic, but totally the animators just trying new techniques and playing around. It kind of haunted me as a child. Superb dissection my friend!😁✌💥
Ohhh man yeah there's a specific bit in pink epehants where there's a creature made of elephant heads in particular that haunted me like crazy
Hello, great work!! Very interesting ! Thanks
Yes, i havent seen it in years. Thank you for sharing ❤ 👍
I actually JUST heard a review of the new Dumbo on the radio that pretty much called it another mediocre remake lol. Love your review of the original too! Made me lol as always!
Oh yeah that's what I think it will be too but i'm still compelled to watch DAMNIT
I loved this movie as a kid! But it was soo Damn sad! Aha another great video my dude ! Keep up the great work!
I haven't watched this movie since I was a kid. Woah it looks different as a grown up!
Oh yeah it did look quite a bit dfferent for me too! especially the kid who akes fun of dumbo in my memory he looked identical to the ginger fella in Pinocchio but he really doesn't
Your voice is so good! easy to listen to and i love a welsh accent
My childhood fave!

PlayCONtent the clips are never enough! 😂 I will say, watching it with a bottle of beer or alcohol of some kind is a good coping mechanism. 😉
Man i watched this movie so many times as a kid lol its fantastic idk about the new movie but if is half as good as the old one its gonna be really good . Great job Play!
Apparently it really isn't great but I feel compelled to watch anyway just so I can KNOW it's not great
I ❤️ Dumbo! Elephants have always been my favorite animal! I do agree that some of the songs are endless!! 😂 I love the drunk mouse scene!
Ohhh I used to know someone who was really obsessed with elephants- had rings of them , a tattoo the lot
I barely remember the animated movie - I swore off it in my primary school because I was bullied for my ears and the scene where the kid pulls on Dumbo's ears upset me. In saying that I have made plans to see the new one next week. I'll be taking tissues!!!

I only ever saw Dumbo once and never gave it another watch until a live action film was announced. Great film and Dumbo is cute
This is getting me prepped to see the live movie!
I love Dumbo! Awesome video!
Dumbo is legendary. I really hope the live action lives up to the original
I've heard it doesn't but BUT I do sometimes tend to like films more than most people
Did not know it was a tim burton movie! now i definitely want to watch! :)
Dumbo is so fucking cute! Always makes me cry haha! Great video man!
Great review, maybe I should revisit the movie, you gave me some new points of view
Good video. I've already seen the remake and my review of that will be up soon
I'm looking forward to that!
Dumbo is a great classic
Throwing in his cryogenic chamber 😂 another great video very concise.
I tell you what ELSE was thrown in this cryogenic chamber...him (that failed but I hope you'll see the intention) thanks for watching again man!
Dumbo was a trip yo
Really hoping the remake includes a trippy dancing elephants scene as well.
Oh yeah it apparently does and it's given even less context I've heard , thanks for watching!
I have no idea why Disney would choose Tim Burton after “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. He spends to much time on making things weird for weird’s sake. Great video!

Oh one of my favorite Disney movies lol not in the grave nice one
Love Dumbo but one of the saddest Disney movies. I'm not sure about this upcoming remake but I'll watch it. Great job
Its out now actually. Yeah , I don't think it'll even be good but I want to KNOW one way or the other
Such a sad movie, looking forward to remake too
I almost cried just from the clip of dumbo crying on his mum in this video OUCH
ohhhh man and that's outside of the film's full context too
@@PlayCONtent ikr?! Better not watch it any time soon hahah
Ahh Dumbo what a classic, have not seen it in such a long time, I don’t really know why the fact he can fly is a shock, there’s loads of flying elephants around my way..
That's my other big criticism- just felt like a documentary to me because of that
It's a good thing Dumbo ended up in this film and not in The Greatest Showman, otherwise he would have been mistreated even worse!
Not really one of my favorite Disney Classics, but I would give it a watch every now and then of I happen to see it on. The drunk scene is pretty funny though, and probably a little creepy to small children. Lol.
Never watched the original because of the crows
My daughter loved it 😍, good job 👏

Good video
Nothing like the original in my opinion ❤️
Yeah I can't imagine Tim Burton's one even being that good but I need to know for sure
Cool video dude I loved dumbo when I was younger I think that the new one is another remake for the hipsters 🤣😂
Ohhh yeah Tm Burtons film before this looked like x men for hipsters- there's a bit of hipster in all of us I always say (I said it just now for the first time)
