I played Atari 2600 in the 80's but actually my favorite memories are from 95/96. My best friend and I were saving money to buy a PS1 and someone gave me his 2600 jr. We played it 'cause we were bored just to find out that we loved it. None of my other friends understood why or why we kept playing it even after getting the PS1.
I would have loved to have been part of the live chat. Atari is legendary!
River Raid is what got me started. It was my moms favorite game n was watching her play at like 3 years old. She let me play n that was the day I became a gamer. Still remember it too. Keystone Kappers was another one I loved.
Belated answers to your questions about SMS games and pause: the Power Base Converter for the Genesis (model 1) has a pause button on it to allow pause. The Mega Everdrive cartridges are compatible with SMS games and have a button on the top that lets you pause. Not aware of any mod or controller that lets you have the pause button on the controller.
Demon attack, one of my favorites. The artwork was hilarious on the box. Plastic dinosaurs painted silver with missiles glued to them.
Jungle Hunt is a classic, When i play it and hear the music i am always reminded of when you were imitating the music as the Joker
The 2600 is still one of my favorite systems, theres been a lot of great new games that have come out for it in the past couple years.
My apartment has a dry erase board w high scores names n dates. Its the way to go
I like the 2P modes in Demon Attack where the control switches between players every few seconds.The early builds of the game crash after wave 84 - but there's a ROM hack that fixes that and makes the bw/color switch pause the game.
Imagic games had really nice colors and contrast and controls in general...some of the best Atari 2600 games were made by Imagic(and also Activision and Sega and CBS games, and well...jeez). Their unique cartridge shape and silver label makes them stand out when looking for them at a thrift store ;)

@@retrosean199 It's a known bug actually, in fact there's two revisions of the game. The original version always crashes after beating level 84. Later copies of the game have the bug fixed. atariage.com/forums/topic/161476-how-long-to-test-if-demon-attack-is-the-one-that-crashes/

i remember mailing in poloroids of my hi-scores for iron-on patches. some of my fave gms were: Atlantis, Plaque Attack, and Spider Fighter. good times!
Dude this is pretty sick. I just picked up an Atari Flashback that has all of these games and seeing you play Kaboom is amazing
Even though the graphics are primitive af, the fluid animation compensates and the vibrant flashing colors go a long way.

Funny,I was just playing my 2600 and Colecovision the other day with my 9 year old niece. Moding a 2600 seems a little extreme. I actually play it on my 4k set using the cable input and it looks pretty good. All the Imagic games were great. All ex Atari employees along with the Activision guys. The Intellivision version of Demon Attack is far better than the 2600 version. Could be seen as a better remake if you want. I have 100 or so of the best 2600 games that I got when I was a kid. A few games like River Raid,Kaboom,Chopper Command and Cosmic Ark really hold up.
Don't know if you know this but Demon Attack crashes on a certain wave. I think it's like wave 70 something

Space Invaders, when you reach the point where the invaders are starting one row away from the bottom, clear the bottom two rows, not three, and then go back for the leftmost column.
My asteroids game doesn't act like that, did you adjust the difficulty?
Nintendo actually did have some hotels in the 1960s. There weren't any video game museums in these hotels (Pong didn't even exist yet), although there was a lot of love.

Space Invaders is a classic game I honestly don't much care for. Its an important game for its genre but later ones like Galaga were done much better so a skilled enough person could keep going as long as their hands hold out. But with Space Invaders that doesn't work; a few levels and its down to how long your tokens hold out, regardless of skill.
the 2600 was before my time but I love collecting for it. games are cheap and pretty fun

I had a dream about DOOM last night, and then I woke up and you had just posted a DOOM mod!
Actually I don't hate tutorials if done right. But sometimes they get really annoying: You play for ten Seconds and a text box pops up. Then you play another fifteen seconds and another text box pops up. Five seconds later another box interrupts the game. That's when I want to throw the controller at the TV.
The best thing is a manual in the game's options menu, which you can look up if necessary. Or even better: a printed booklet! 😮
But I already said goodbye to the latter. R.I.P 😒

I do play Atari VCS/2600 games every now and then,and i do have fun with them. And yeah it's inevitable that a console with a huge library will have some bad games too. Too bad i missed this stream,especially because i'm sick of seeing people on twitch playing nothing but Pokemon.

As much as I’d like to see Lucas return to the franchise, I agree with you. Even if he came back, I’m done with Star Wars. The only way I’d give a crap is if they gave him complete control over the creative direction of the film/films.

Let's be honest. None of us searched this but we're glad we found it. Just kidding. So sick of that comment on everything I watch lately.
I was VERY pleased with the Star Wars prequels. Episode 2 is my favorite of any Star Wars movie. The only people that don't like them are the internet echo chamber copying the critics which hate Lucas and review them poorly no matter how good they are.

TBH I'm surprised an Atari 2600 can be modded for RGB seeing how RF was it's only video output and needs mods for even composite.
In my opinion the only good thing about Atari is when Mike plays it.

I'm done with Star Wars too. George Lucas abandoned it, Disney gave it the final kick to balls, milked it and fucked it up beyond all repair. The whole franchise with all the movies, toys and merchandise and all that shit, can die for all I care.
