Over a year since I filmed the last three videos we are back in the Big Six Inn. I was really surprised at the response to at least the first video and felt inspired to get the camera out again.
I'm back in the pub for a busy Wednesday due to staff sickness and having to step in to do essential tasks that can't be ignored. It's line cleaning day on top everything else that needed doing. A lot goes on behind the scenes in even a small pub like the Big Six as the quality of our beer is paramount.
Thanks for watching.

Fascinating. How much do you have to worry about cleaning the cellar floor? Does it become very sticky? Does it reek of beer etc?
We don't worry about it as it's part of the routine. The cellar floor is hosed down regularly. Thankfully, not all barrels 'explode' like that one did though!
@@wandojames it looks a lovely pub and almost like a museum- the cellar must go under the other houses or it’s a tardis!
i am an expert 🤣 always try to tap with one hit 😅should have just tapped a soft peg in the top then later swapped it for a self breather i used to stock friary meux bitter it was very volatile and often got a beer shampoo. nice vid
Cheers, thanks for watching.
Since I’ve never worked in a tavern or pub, I would be interested in knowing about how those vacuum (?) pans under the traditional ale taps work and what they do. Do they “recycle” the ale back out the pump?
Yes, they are called 'auto-vacs' and are popular in this part of the country. Spillage goes into the tray and is recycled back through in the next pull of the pump. I should explain this a bit more in a video some time.
