My parents live on North Mountain, Sullivan county. Been hunting that mountain since I was a kid. 57 now. Beautiful country up there. Just got back Sunday. Lots of bear and deer.
I shot a 205 pound buck with my longbow two years ago while still hunting. He never bled for 200 yards. Always assume a hit. My deer was a double lunger and the arrow passed through. Found it the next day.
Always, always follow the deer at least 100 yards to check for blood. I've made several kill shots where they didn't bleed for 30 to 70 yards. Deer run fast after the shot, they can cover a lot of ground before you find your first blood. You're young and will learn from experience but please make that a #1 rule after the shot, the animal deserves nothing less! Good luck in your future hunts buddy!

James Ward Typically when there is a lot of hair it means you just grazed them. A solid hit does cut some hair going in but not that much. Definitely grazed him.
