Thanks for sharing this! I hope everyone applying for a postdoc gets to take a look at this - really conveys the key points needed for a cover letter!!
Are most post-doc cover letters generally this short (only 1 paragraph)? The hardest conundrum I face is to convey the point that I would be a great addition to their lab and how my experience and skills really match up with the Postdoc advertisement they put out.
Thanks for sharing this video. I always thought that it was necessary to add a summary of our Ph.D thesis research and skills in the cover letter, especially for the advertised positions. Is that not always the case?
Many thanks for making these videos. They are very helpful. I have a postdoc interview in the coming days. Can you please share your inputs on what to keep in the presentation and the expected questions
Impressive work!!! Could you please tell me how to write a small research proposal that you are going to do in the lab. Please watch what Dr. Martin Chalfi mentioned for post doc application.
Thanks for sharing this vedios with us. Do you have any advice for someone who is applying for an advertised postdoc position which is going to be somehow a new field of study for the supervisor herself?
Funny. I do 2 usually but as an email not as a covletter. Still got nothing. A girl had a copycat of my cv just fewer qualifications and got the position as internal applicant and younger so less experience too. I didn't understand it. Some just hire younger for the sake of hiring. I have worked with great younger people or older so I don't get it and also bad of either. I don't think age determines how good you will be. Some are just looking to date 😂 in that case I'm glad I didn't get hired.
I am also facing the same problem. I am writing everything on the email directly instead of a separate cover letter, but still it is all the same - no response
Hi. Currently I am running siRNA KD experiment. I can see the decreased protein expression in western blot. But I couldn't see the change in gene expression patterns in qPCR. I tried with several different primers. Internal control always working. But no reduction in the KD gene. It is always higher than the control siRNA. What could be the possible reasons?
@@gradschooladvice9537 on the same day I transfect cells for western blot and for RNA isolation. After 48hrs of transfection I collected the samples.isolated RNA, synthesized cDNA, then qPCR

Thank you so much for sharing this interesting video 👏🙏
Thank you very much for this video. Looking forward to more videos like this
Very helpful!Iam preparing to look for a postdoctor position.
Best of luck!
Many thanks for sharing this informative video! I also like this kind of video that we can see and hear your recommendations at the same time!
Excellent!

Can you tell us about how to write a how to structure a concise postdoc research proposal of a one page length?

I actually think including that would be an excellent idea! I would just make sure to keep it concise.
I usually just write one sentence. But they don't get back to me at all. I thought maybe discrimination.

I can try and put something together.

I’ll take a look!
Thank you for sharing this. Can you also tell about what the subject line to use and how the body of email should look like?
Yes I am happy to!
very informative video.

So the PI is moving to a new field?

what is the best email subject for applying PhD without any open position advertisement and also with advertisement?
I would say anything like “PhD position inquiry.” My experience is more directly applying to a department.

How long after transfection (I assume it is in a cell line).

Should still have KD 48 hours later. Only options are the primers aren’t good or the mRNA turnover is too quick to capture.
I'm guessing you will need tons of siRNA although never done western blots on them I can imagine you need a much larger quantity.
