I bought a plain canvas pouch with zipper and I put it inside my crocheted pouch and sew it. It was SUPER EASY

I made this today to coordinate with the crocheted bag I just finished. Gray yarn with a red zipper and red flannel lining. Great directions! Thank you. I have never put a zipper in anything, but now I can do it. Thank you!

I want to thank you so so so much for such clear instructions!!! I’ve watched many crochet videos where the teacher does not stop, zoom in, slow down to show you what they’re talking about and you just kind of have to guess, “Errr.. I think they mean to stitch through this whole??” As a beginner, I’m not familiar with crocheting terminology, so this helps a whole lot!! Thank you so much! ♥️

Thanks for making and posting this video, Melanie. I cannot locate the zipper foot for my sewing machine, so have been wanting to know how to hand-insert a zipper onto a pouch. I think doing the inner lining first would be easier too, as you mention. I would make the crocheted part a bit *smaller* than the zipper, because the crocheted piece will be stretchy, while the zipper will not stretch. I never considered doing a crocheted outer bag -- great idea! Really enjoy your YT videos. ~Diana from Toronto

Thanks so much Melanie! I am stuck in a hotel for a couple of days and love the alone time, so I brought tons of yarn and after seeing this easy project, I ran to the local Michaels and Wal-Mart for the zippers, thread and material to finish a couple of these. Just completed the first one and it was not nearly as time consuming as I had thought it would be. LOVE this item and will be adding it to my Easy store and giving them away for Christmas! XO!

How many chain stitches were there to match the length of the zipper? We are in lockdown and I can't go out to get the zipper.

I'm so excited!! I saw a simple crocheted bag earlier in the spring and it was about $400! Ha! Now I have the "how to" to do it myself for the cost of the yarn and my time (I'll just extend my rectangle). I'd appreciate the sewing machine instructions. Love it

NICE VIDEO. Using hand stitching while in fron of the TV or computer screen made it fast Although slower, hand stitching required no edging, but with machine, one can pick up outside sts and crochet a pico or scalloped edge if you like. In my case,
I just added a lining for a crocheted project rectangle intended for something else. Still even though it was pretty easy to figure a machine way, but your demo ability makes one excited to see THIS, when it comes out. LOVE YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS!!!

elizabeth mims there are crochet videos that show you step by step how to read a pattern. Then you can use sites i.e. Ravelry, lionbrand, red heart and more to push yourself with new projects. That's what I did when I first started crocheting and wanted to learn how to read a pattern.

I needed visuals for how to hand sew the inner fabric to the zipper and to my crochet bag that I'd already made. Time stamp for this begins at 15:08 for anyone else looking for this in particular.
I couldn't find it in other videos, as they often sew the zipper directly to the crochet bag, or use a sewing machine to sew in the zipper with the inner fabric. Thank you for the directions. I unfortunately made the inner fabric match up too closely to the zipper in one part, which made the zipper not run smoothly, so I had to do some surgery to make it work properly.
