I never owned the Pony, but I did have the follow-on car that Hyundai produced, the Scoupe (S-Coupe?) I got about 200,000 km out of it before trading up to a Mustang. The mechanic who bought it from the dealership before they were going to ship it off got another 100,000 k before it finally died.
Yessss Scoupe! Wow. She's had the beautiful life as a car with you and later on as well. Cars need be driven! I actually have been in Scoupe recently, it will be uploaded too!
I see the lineage, unlike many other car designers talk about their design inspirations which most of the time I have no idea what they are talking about.
@@CarSceneKorea I'm sure they could make something look similar and modify it to meet modern safety standards. One can only wish. thanks for the reply.
If you ever get a chance to travel to Europe than review the genesis g70 shooting brake or you can import it since it’s a Hyundai what do you think of it
The Hyundai Pony that showed up in Canada (1984) and later the Excel to America (1986) was really a disappointment to drive. As an EV with some serious torque with the same light body, I actually like this idea.
Ugh just imagine how shit this would actually end up looking if they ever mass produced it, like how Honda destroyed their awesome looking prototype and turned it into the Honda E. I miss being young and naive and still having hope whenever a company would show off a prototype or concept.
@@CarSceneKorea they were selling at the right time for demand at a low price. Did not need extensive mechanical knowledge to work on them, which was good because Hyundai dealerships were not known for the best sales and service back then.
Giorgetto Giugiaro, the designer of Lancia Delta Integrale also designed Hyundai Pony, one of Hyundai's early cars and unofficially, this IONIQ 5 is the hommage to it. Nice catch!
The Second Heritage Series now reviewed! Find out all about Heritage Series Grandeur!

I think retro designs for EVs will be huge. At least I hope so!
I'd love to have a retro look EV car with fully loaded modern tech inside omg
That's the dream
God I would LOVE retro electric cars. Imagine how dope that would be? The storage and latest safety features too. Omg . I would be ultra excited
@@CarSceneKorea would you love to see the retro grandeur
@@hlbztransparency8722 LOLL trust me bro!!
Oh my god!! Just mass produce these type of gems!
Glad you like it :)
Dope.. I hope other manufacturers start doing this.. retro evs needs to be a thing
We need to give them some love to make that happen! Yesss I'd love to see these retro EV's on the streets 😎
i couldn't agree more. electric vehicles are such a good opportunity for car manufacturers to bring old designs back
This interior could easily be in the top three across all car classes!
Glad you like it!
Wow I love vintage ev cars. I like them more than latest design cars.
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍
I hope this gets mass produced to inspire more companies to do the same.
Heritage Series Grandeur upload is coming soon! Check that out too!
I love your channel bro. You deserve big success
Thank you so much for making my day! 😀 Comments and viewers like you keep me going. That's all I need!
@@CarSceneKorea it's true man! :) enjoyed the video

I was a die hard AMG fan until I saw the Grandeur and Pony EVs. I am saving up my money for this one if they release it for sure.
Capturing Grandeur EV Heritage soon! Come back for updates! 🔥
wow what an interesting concept! thanks for the video!
Glad you liked it!
I see the lineage, unlike many other car designers talk about their design inspirations which most of the time I have no idea what they are talking about.
This car is essentially the real Pony outside, using the original car's chassis :) Too bad it's just a mockup and a concept
Will they actually make this I’ll buy one for sure. any word if they will or is it just a concept ?
Unfortunately not. The chassis alone will not meet the modern day safety measurement. Heritage Series are concepts - at least for now.
@@CarSceneKorea I'm sure they could make something look similar and modify it to meet modern safety standards. One can only wish. thanks for the reply.
That'd be really amazing! Imagine driving this car down town :P
@@CarSceneKorearight? :p I'm sure it can be done.
I like the small mirror near the front hood! Neat car! 🚗
Retro 🚀
Wow just wow
I'd buy one if they were affordable! the dash is my favorite part.
Agreed! 💯
Awesome car Hyundai made in 1947. They were very ahead of their time back then.
Glad you like it! 👍
Will they sell in the US?
Unfortunately, this is just a concept amongst the Heritage Series.
If you ever get a chance to travel to Europe than review the genesis g70 shooting brake or you can import it since it’s a Hyundai what do you think of it
Would love to both travel to Europe and review G70 SB! Importing it back, it'd cost a fortune :'(
will this car be made?
We saw N Vision 74, so really wish we could!
Very cool. I have a friend who's mother had a white Pony and his father had a Stellar!
Wow the blooming era of Hyundai :)
I love how the windows are electric but the controls echo the original rollers.
Details matter! 🚀

Would be truly nice seeing these beauties coming to reality.

Will it be available in the US? I love it!
Unfortunately not, this is not a production model. 😥
Too bad it's awesome
I drove a Hyundai Pony truck 30 years ago in Gunsan.
Wow, I never had the chance to be in one! How do you feel about this Pony EV from the owners perspective? 🤔
Ugh just imagine how shit this would actually end up looking if they ever mass produced it, like how Honda destroyed their awesome looking prototype and turned it into the Honda E. I miss being young and naive and still having hope whenever a company would show off a prototype or concept.
As much as I'd like to see these concepts IRL, but some are just better as concepts :)
The N vision 74 is sick
Can't wait to check the car out in person!
We’ve always called gas pedal accelerator in my country since forever lol
Might as well use accelerator only from now on, which works for both 🤣
The Ioniq 5 was the Pony modernized into the car regulations required for today from what I heard
I will never buy these modern ugly, over-flashy cars. This car looks stunning compared to “modern standards.” Nice video
Glad you like it! 👍
YO HYNDAI! I WANT TO DRIVE THIS BADLY AND IM SURE IM NOT THE ONLY ONE. Money isint an issue just do it ok thx
I just filmed their second heritage series, Grandeur EV, so come back for that too!
Wow a Pony! I remember seeing them everywhere where I am in Canada. Same with the Stellar sedan… both all but extinct now sadly.
Numbers show that Pony's sold quite a lot than Hyundai anticipated overseas!
@@CarSceneKorea they were selling at the right time for demand at a low price. Did not need extensive mechanical knowledge to work on them, which was good because Hyundai dealerships were not known for the best sales and service back then.
Very true! Wonder how the street would've looked with theses Ponies on the road :P
They were everywhere because you could buy them new for less than $6000 in the mid-80s. Even in 80's dollars that was cheap.
Surprised it was not called the PON-E
That should've been the name OMG!
I like it I just don't like the square pixel design they put on the lights
Seems to be the trend Hyundai is pursuing with IONIQ brands and all.
They're having fun with cars in Korea and Japan, while America keeps giving us SUVs.
What about Ford F-150 Lightning! Love that car, rly wish we get that in Korea 😭
@@CarSceneKorea didn't even know about that truck and I really don't think many people will buy it, but we shall see.
@@utterbullspit That car will sell like hotcakes 🥞
this is a dream car, too bad we cant drive this
Maybe one day!
I was hoping it wasn't an electric car..aaah damn

Wait, are those REAL nixie tubes? Those things are incredibly rare and expensive these days.
This is a one-off car, so I think it's safe to assume it is!
I need this car style
Maybe one day! Hyundai pls!
They were afraid that Lupin III stole that
Haha good one.
It looks more like a Lancia Delta to me.
Giorgetto Giugiaro, Look up that name. He designed all the iconic cars from back then.

Yes, please! 🙏

You're not alone 🚀
Bro I wpuld pay anything for this car. I'd Adam22 my wife. I'd sell my first born child. Give me THROWBACJ DESIGN ON EV CARS
Hope Hyundai would read this comment 👀😱
Dude, just speak Korean, your Engllish is barely there.
Sorry, my Korean is worse. You're better off listening to my English 😎
I wish they could sell these. Much nicer than the ugly blobs every other production EV
You're not alone! 😉
I would drive this
Come back to the channel soon for a Pony Coupe that Hyundai recently brought back to life :)
