We are in Tennessee and our heat seems longer, but not as hot so far. We are more 95 to 97. Our Dee point is high. Stay as safe and cool as you can. Blessings

Grass clippings for mulch. A resource that most gardeners have.
I give hens fresh water twice per day. In hot weather to have fresh cool water. In cold weather to have warmer, non frozen, water.

My daughter lives in Arizona and what she does for her chickens and goats is they have some sort of sprinkler setup where it shoots out into the cages and that seems to really help her animals

Ours hate getting wet 🤣 we tried the sprinkler and boy were they mad! 🤣 But we do spray the lawn down. 😀

No heat wave in upper Midwest, just rain rain and more rain. We had a half day no rain yesterday and I was able to get out to the garden. Tomatoes need pruning but didnt have time and pepper plants are exploding, nice and bushy. We've got rain again the next 3 days. So far my plants are doing well!💗

We just did our lawn two days ago and spread a good 4 inches of grass clippings around all the plants. Heavily watered everything in as we go through this heat wave. We set up a shallow kiddie pool that my husband cut the sides down so it's only maybe 2 inches deep. Our chickens love to walk in the water. We also spray down there coop and top of the run which helps cool them down. All under the bushes got soaked down. Today hit 95 and tomorrow should be about the same or possible up to 97. All there feed has been soaked as well so they get water when they are eating.

The grass clippings work. I do it all the time. It is also a fertilizer I think. I never have to fertilize my plants. It's like composting in place.

If you have some old sheets , plastic, tarps, ect... you could put them over the top of your gardens to help the sun not to be on them directly. ❤❤😊

I was going to pick up cheap shower curtains at the dollar tree to shade. 😃

I didn't know chickens won't drink warm water! I think hubby warms it in winter just to help keep them warm; or is it only a summer thing?

We keep it at roughly 70 F in winter with a heated water can. But in the intense heat, they won't drink it warm
