This is one of my favorite videos ever. It’s so helpful, and I love seeing the process and the thinking out the shoes and bags and etc. It’s been so much fun watching it. I feel like I’m at a girlfriend’s house watching her pack. I love you.
IT’S A SHAG!!! 😂 Packing is such a process. I hate doing it, but I could watch someone else dig thru their closet all day! 🎉 Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your trip.
I would love to see how you actually pack the clothes in a suitcase. That is always a problem for me since my clothes inevitably arrives wrinkled when I get to my destination.
You are a breath of fresh air! Im a tall, bigger lady with big feet and was not able to fit into all the cute clothes and shoes. You make it sooooo fun and your daughter is a doll! Thank you for making the day brighter ❤.
This was great fun, Carla! I do the same thing up to a month before the trip with the rolling rack, tentative choices, and shoes and bags underneath. The big difference is that my process is much simpler because for the last 3 years I have done carryon only! 🎉. For someone who likes to have lots of clothing choices, it was very challenging at first but not anymore. Of course, I am not a style icon like you and I don’t need such an incredible wardrobe for a month 😂. Thanks for the entertainment! ❤
Oh my goodness! You are delightful! This is my first time watching you. 🎉 The next time I pack, I’m definitely going to hear you say, “We’ll revisit!” every time I can’t decide on whether or not to bring something. ❤
I'm obsessed with barrel leg pants lately but I have been nervous about investing in the trend. The jeans I want are $300...:( My last capsule wardrobe I made for a long trip had three themes: sailor, toddler and flapper. I made mix and match outfits out of those themes. I planned it weeks ahead of time and then pared down as it got closer to actually fitting it in the case. I was most proud of the fact that I went three weeks with only two pairs of shoes: a pair of vans and a pair of fluevog oxfords that are a little dressy and a little platform-y but super walkable and comfy. Apart from normal tourist stuff we attended the theater so I had needed clothes that could be dressed up. I ended up going with a vintage silk crepe from the 30s that can be worn as a maxi or hiked up and worn as a mini. It was great because for walking I really need to be able to stretch my legs to keep up with my tall husband and son. I love a dress that can be worn at different lengths given the right belt. I really tried to emphasize accessories, like scarves (I'm not a big jewelry person, sorry. I still love your channel!), belts, hats etc. Loved this video. I'd love more long form stuff.
I love to see your thought process. I start similarly to you: what am I going to be doing and how will I be getting from point A to point B. Comfortable yet fashionable shoes are a must in New York. Best of luck on your trip! And FYI, the Globe & Mail said that trunks are having a comeback.
It was so great to see your process! I do something similar but digitally since I have all my clothes in a wardrobe app on my phone. I would love to see this as a series showing how you pick things for a trip but also how you pack your bags! As a chronic (and unapologetic) over packer I'm always curious to see how people fold things and what bags they use, etc.
Loved this! Carla, your closet curations are top notch 💖 and how you style your collection of stunning garments and accessories is a fashion fantasy! You are the real Carrie Bradshaw. IMO you should have taken over that production’s fashion POV! Hope your trip is marvelous, and a success 🥰✌🏽
That St John jacket has to go with you. It is simply fabulous. Please dont leave it behing along with the stripped pants and the bodega little bag. Love it
From what I can remember when I traveled you pack a little more just incase then not enough! Also always pack in your carryon an outfit some toiletries and your makeup just in case something happens and you checked luggage doesn’t make it to your destination with you oh and if there is any medication you might need! Have a great trip and time in New York!❤
This is so validating to see that the inside of your brain is doing what the inside of my brain is doing when I pack for a long complicated trip. You're MUCH better at the fashionista part of it obviously, but my process is valid. Love this.
I love you ❤ I've been drawing fashion designs since I was two. I love style. I've stopped buying clothes since having kids. My goal is to navigate my style while pinning down the forms that look good on me and have pieces that I can wear for the rest of my life. I get just as excited as you to pack. I start usually a month ahead. Hope to get to the same place as you someday.
I love seeing your process. It's a lot like mine. I start packing days in advance and edit as I go. By the way.....try one of the adhesive bunion pads on the back of the shoe. It might help and will look like skin tone from the outside. Have fun in my favorite city! ❤
1. Please do a dress for success series 😂 2. I am CURRENTLY in europe and ive been to the south of italy, always see very interesting items, but idk how to tell whether its worth the price cause they always feel like a tourist trap, for example some unbranded leather sandals could cost up to 150 euros! Any tips for shopping unique pieces?
I loved this video! I'm going to be taking at least two long trips this summer and fall and probably one nearer to Christmas. This will help me so much! And please do a video on jewelry simply because I love all your pieces.
My pack process is similar. I start with what I'm gonna do/wear for each day including travel. Then I throw in a few swappables. But I've never stayed anywhere for more than a week. Great job, Carla
I'm packing the same way i declutter. The method is pick the pants first. After that you chose the tops around it. Than decide for dresses and jackets. Hope it helps❤
No, Carla, NO!!!! Put the St John's back on the rack, OR, send it to me 😊 That jacket is stunning, and it is a crime not to wear it!!!! Love how I'm laughing while watching this as I do exactly the same thing when packing. Takes a month to decide what to pack for a weekend, nevermind a month 😅 Lots of love from the UK 🇬🇧 x
Ty! You are so lovely, but packing adorable…you said this is week ling process e i loved each moment of 2hrs of one day. Please pack with us everyday… i know you are in NY now.. but please, MORE! Love packing with you e hanging out. Ivy is so chill, love it! Youre s great mum e im sure s great friend. Very very fun! ❤❤
Love Carla's style so much!! I just pack carry-on only for tropical destinations (the northern hemisphere is just too far away)so this video is polar opposite to me but still influences me!
May I give you suggestions for the shoe rubbing, Compeed do a blister stick which is not messy, I rub it on the shoe, as well as the back of my foot, I also get a spoon and with the rounded part, press/shape the edge of the leather so it smooths. I use these techniques on rubbing sandal straps too. Fantastic video, I will now go and pack for my Paris trip ❤
This was so fun! I always do one bag travel and I’ve watched many minimalist packing vlogs. It was quite refreshing watching a maximalist packing vlog. Your thought process is just like mine, although the end results are drastically different. 😂❤️
Great video!🤗 A couple of ideas to make your mesh flats comfortable- try getting the stretchy pre-cut moleskin strips. They look like bandaids and you stick them on the inside of the shoe where it’s going to rub your heel. You can also get Dr scholl’s Blister Defense and apply it to your heel where the shoes rub. It looks like a blue tube of chapstick or get New Skin Liquid Bandage. It’s a little bottle looks like a little essential oil bottle. It’s good for the back of your ankle/foot where a bandaid doesn’t always stay on. I’ve had good luck with these. Have a fun trip!!
Oh Carla you are so much fun, i love your videos, i love your shorts too but love, love your videos. you have the most amazing outfits. from Laura in the UK X
Love the choices, but how many suitcases did you use to pack all of this??!! My Bestie and I spent 2 weeks in Europe last year. I found it so difficult to try to condense things down, but I had limited myself to 1 big suitcase and carrry-on bag so I could manage my own luggage by myself! It was so hard!!
Carla those stripe pants!!!!❤ Regarding those painful flats: try Foot Glide by Body Glide. It is packaged just like stick deodorant. Simply apply it on you feet and you’re good to go!
Not sure if this has been considered yet and I'm sorry if this doesn't work, but Dr. Scholl's moleskin patches helped a lot for my shoes that gave me blisters with a similar issue and they are skin colored so it's easy to camouflage on the inside of the shoe as well! Hope this helps!
o.m.g. the light carry on only packer in me is having agada. no, girl....wayyyyyy too much stuff! of course, you do you. for me? no way. this is at LEAST twice as much as i would need for a month. but...i am not a high powered fashion designer headed off for meetings. then again, you are STILL packing wayyyyy too much. lol. that's ok. you do you. you have to get your bags to wherever they need to go and hope they don't get lost. would love to see what you really end up taking and how many bags...wow. still such loveliness in there....
Girl, how many suitcases are you taking? Who is hauling them? Who needs four robes, like, ever? But honestly this video is the most fun and a real fantasy thrill of maximalist packing. I would love to also see a long-form minimalist packing session from you-how you’d make the same skirt work for 4 or 5 different wears on a 10-day trip, for example. Please post all those outfits while you’re on that month-long trip, and let us know afterward what you could have done without and what you shouldn’t have packed. And please explain the four robes. I would like to be a woman who needs four robes.
I’m currently packing for a week long trip to Dallas and it makes me so happy that I use a similar process. I’m still considering a bunch of items too! 😂
Omg, Long-Form Content Carla!! WITH IVY!! What a day 🎉

Aww this makes me so happy. Thank you for joining me love XOXO
If filming can be worked into your packing process, a long form vid before your trips would be something I would always watch!
Good to know!! Thank you for joining ❤️❤️
2:14 LOL you’re as internally chaotic as I am when packing. And I love it.

IT’S A SHAG!!! 😂 Packing is such a process. I hate doing it, but I could watch someone else dig thru their closet all day! 🎉 Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your trip.
I really enjoyed this, Carla!!! So much fun and I learned a ton about the thought process when packing!!!!🤍
Yay!🩷 Here to help XOXO
Carla’s advice with the chocolate shoes is mine but burgundy. It excites the all neutral outfit.
Yes love burgundy too!👍🥰
I am SO encouraged because I do think the way you do when I pack. Now I feel validated! Thank you!
Yay!🤎🤎
I would love to see how you actually pack the clothes in a suitcase. That is always a problem for me since my clothes inevitably arrives wrinkled when I get to my destination.
Bring a travel steamer with you!!🙌💕
TAKE THE ST JOHN'S JACKET, its too wonderful to leave behind and NY screams for it 😂
Totally agree!! ❤

I actually just took a month long trip and packed my entire capsule wardrobe based around my bourbon sling bag, it was fabulous! :)
WOW!! love this so much 😍😍
How many suitcases are you taking? One for the shoes and bags.

As someone with a minimalist capsule wardrobe, this is both delightful and stressful 😂
Can we also get a packing video from Ivy? She also has such great style and it would be fun to see the difference in your packing methodologies 😄
I loved this video! I'm going to be taking at least two long trips this summer and fall and probably one nearer to Christmas. This will help me so much! And please do a video on jewelry simply because I love all your pieces.
For your mesh ballet flats, I use flesh colored fabric bandage when I need to protect my heels.
Smart!👍🩷
Daughter so much calmer than mom. Same with my daughter and me when traveling together ❤️

have fun in Dallas!🥰
Essential: We need to see the suitcases! How big and how many. What's in your carry on?
Haha, the brown shoes work well for you as they go so well with your brown hair, and you have a bag of confidence 😅😅😅😊🎉
Right!? thats what I'm thinking!
