I'm really proud of this one. It took a long time to write, and it's one of those rare videos where I feel like I said absolutely everything I wanted to say about a topic. So I certainly hope you guys enjoy it! And to hopefully head you off before you ask, sometimes I'm dumb enough to put a time-sensitive line into a video and then that video is in production for a long while and gets delayed several times. That's when you get lines about how Super Mario Odyssey is great and how Nintendo just had a great holiday season...in April. Also I've been informed that I got it backwards--that Roy was a clone of Marth, not the other way around. I can only hope the wave of corrections doesn't literally crash through the computer and crush me.
Arlo random comment: Nintendo kept using the SAME coin sound effects is getting too old and dull it’s been over used. The super Mario 64 coin sound effect is way better and nostalgia, why can’t they use it?
I'm actually making a video about the toys to life video, and yeah Amiibo are gonna be a big thing in the video. I'm still sad that despite my huge collection, I don't have Young Link from Majora's Mask. And that there were no Amiibo games that had a true functionality for them outside of Smash.
There is a simple but impactful improvement to your idea: make the game free to play. You would need non-amiibo characters in the game anyway since you can't have an all-amiibo experience without expecting players to have a ton of the things lying around. Alternatively you could just include a Download Code with every amiibo
I know this is an old comment, but part of me legitimately thinks Waluigi was never at risk of being made rare. I mean, it's part of the base Mario amiibo line, and given how big Mario is as a franchise and how it's very likely Nintendo stocks the Mario line regularly due to their use in so many Mario Party games, Waluigi amiibo are seen as a higher priority compared to the rarer Smash amiibo, for example. And this largely applies to all the Mario series amiibo for the more notable characters. Mario, Luigi, Wario, Peach, Daisy, Donkey Kong, characters like that.
Funny thing... I had the exact opposite thing happen. I knew from the beginning that it was gonna be 26 minutes long, and I was SURE the video had to be near it's end, when I realised I was only half way through. Daaaaamn. This might be the most uninteresting Arlo video ever... Sure there were good points to it, but it was just waaaay too loooong, booring and uninteresting as a topic(for me).
I hate the amiibo shortage to death, all I want to do is complete my collection of zelda amiibo but I have been able to find the champion amiibo ever since they came out.
When he said the Amiibos never move off our shelves, I looked over at where mine were sitting and was surprised to see someone had stolen them and replaced them with a pile of dust. 🤔
Make a Waluigi game, where every amiibo just does the same thing as the Waluigi amiibo. Expecting Kirby? TOO BAD, *WALUIGI TIME!* Also, I would totally vote for Arlo as a Nintendo president.
Whatever the game, I would make it free to play and downloadable on the Switch. That's significantly raises the value of a switch and ensures that amiibo are constantly worth keeping on shelves. Even if the game is complete garbage it'll still drive sales and establish Amiibo as a market.
Sure the toys come to life brand isn't very popular anymore but I mean,it could work really well. I spent a lot of money on Skylanders,if Nintendo did something along the lines of that with amiibos.....I'd probably be poor and living on the street, but at least I'd have 500 figurines with me
I remember one time I saw the whole holy trinity set, I begged my mom to get me one of them, saying I’d pay her back, but she just responded with a “maybe another day” and when we came back, the scalpers has already gotten to them
"Why do these have their own section?" In the last couple of weeks my local Target, Walmart, and GameStops have removed their Amiibo sections. Probably because they were always empty of most figures, but overstocked of Animal Crossing figures.
status masters are still considered support. also, bard is one of those classes that has a lot of variety. depending on what you play, they can also use attack spells often associated with undesirable or loud sounds, or healing spells involving more peaceful sounds...
I have every single Amiibo. Including the currently Japan-exclusive ones. Send help. EDIT: Arlo's video is so true it isn't even funny. I love Amiibo, I love collecting them... But that's it. I just collect them. I scan them in the game however many times is required, then it sits on a shelf for the rest of its days. There was something so magical about Smash's way of handling them and Wolf Link, I'd love to see more of that if the idea of a giant Amiibo crossover game is out of the question.
Fenrir/DarkAura64 I’ll send a guy to round them up and remove them for you. Don’t worry, I *definitely* won’t be adding them to my ever-expanding collection of these type of figures...
I think Arlo knows enough about game design to know that speeding up Metroid prime 4 is a bad idea, unless you have a ton of spare change. That said, I would also push for a Waluigi game. Specifically, a reimagining of Grand theft Auto, just like kingdom battle is a reimagining of X-com. It just fits.
There are some great suggestions here. Boobs, Waluigi, I love it all. Coin Theft Auto? Wasn't there another GTA clone? I think they're a cleaning service now...
Amibos should be cheaper. I'd say like 5 dollars, because, for example, spending 20$ for the Smash ability in the True Arena in planet robobot is ridiculous
@@jakethedragonymaster1235 probably, but Nintendo can't do anything about it. They read as normal amiibo, so they can't be detected by the systems...sellers might get in trouble if Nintendo decides to persue them...but that's not my problem lol. I doubt Nintendo would bother though, theres still a ton of demand for the actual figures.
We need more amiibo stock tbh in my opinion. They ALWAYS run out and scammers are having a field day! Also they need xenoblade amiibos Edit: I know they do have xenoblade 1 amiibos, but I want xenoblade 2 amiibos! A Pyra amiibo, a Mythra amiibo and maybe even a Rex amiibo in a three pack, then sell other characters by themselves
My local gamestore had a single chibi robo amiibo. That's it. I love these little thing and I love Nintendo. I have the money and I want to spend it on amiibo, but where I live, I'm just not able to buy amiibo, not even online (I can, but the shipping costs are usually more than the actual figure, I'm not doing that.) This is just something that gets me down every time I walk past the Nintendo aisle in the gamestore near me. It's annoying.
europe here, never heard of amiibo shortage, the stores are always (at least every time I watch, not so often) full of amiibo and it look like no one wants to buy them
uncle hank where I live Nintendo doesn't support anymore so... I only can buy it online and fucng Mario is around 30-40 dollars and the rare ones can be around 60 without the shipment so I only get those that comes with the game and the games itself are around 100 dollars
Over here they are not cheaper by the time I order it pay for shipping yes shipping on a small chip, by the time I get it in my hands it's the same price as a retail amiibo😂
Waluigi being left while everyone else is gone i find very common. I ended up rescuing one at a gamestop for like 5 bucks and i have been great friends with it ever since.
Endless Mayhem Surprisingly, my local Toys R Us had 3 that stayed on shelves...but that was last week so I don't know if they are still there. They have a huge selection of amiibo though
chaotic1997 Why? Those things made Nintendo a literal billion dollars. Why would they stop a money maker like that? That’s like instantly discounting the 3DS it’s still a money maker why kill it now?
Unless ''Amibo Adventure'' is free to play it's going to be a very expansive game to play as well. having to pay for each character you want to play as in a game where the roster is everything just sound like a bad deal.
And imagine how many characters you would have access to if you used the Animal Crossing amiibo cards. There's more than 400 of those things. And just imagine what would happen if Nintendo made Pokemon amiibo cards? There's now more than 800 Pokemon, and a new game on the horizon to add to that number!
The use of the egoraptor shovel knight video was perfect. Not sure if the comedic timing was intended, but the timing of basically discussing worry about availability with Arin’s big overacting surprise face in the background was hilarious to me.
TechDude594 what micro-transactions? Do you even know what that word means? Hint if you spend money and purchase something physical it isn't a micro-transaction
I could have swore dimensions died last year? When I bought my switch I saw all the Lego dimensions products at my Walmart that were $25 where Arlo went, were only $3-$5 at mine, and I haven't seen them at my wall Mart sence about a week after that when I went back looking to buy the doctor who and Harry Potter ones, because that's 3 of my favorite things in one, lego, doctor who, and Harry Potter! But alas, they were sold out.
Personally, compared to other Toys to Life games, Amiibo are doing the best thing possible. By not beholding Amiibo to one large product, like all the others T2L, Amiibo have avoided something I've coined on the spot called 'Regretability of Purchase' Basically it boils down to 'Do you regret buying this?', with Disney Infinity it was a wholesale yes, the games were ok and later on they released Gold Editions on PC that forgoes the use of the figures, rendering them useless. With Skylanders it depends on the game and the figure, I can't count the times I scanned a new figure into the game and immediately regretted it, thanks to the voice or how they played (cough, cough, Stealth Elf). Another big peg at Skylanders is that it's mostly missed potential, I've been wanting for years smaller skylander games that focus on a select few characters, to help build out that characters lore and of the world itself. Remember when Skylanders games use to include bios of the figures? Why couldn't we experience that! Amiibo's essential fixes all of this, they are largely just collectors items that unlock cosmetics that don't detract from the main game. Yes, you could order a Bowser Amiibo to unlock the Bowser racing suit for your Mii in MK8, but then again you could just play as Bowser. None of the Amiibo's I've bought I've regretted thanks to them being a nice little collectors item, including the Fire Emblem ones I bought mainly for Codename: Steam
I was just thinking earlier today that Smash 5 releasing this year may mean that they're going to have a small roster of popular characters, and release more throughout the next year. But what if, instead, they lock some of the characters behind amiibo? Now that's a scary thought.
Josh B Smash Bros games have given players multiple ways to unlock characters in the past. Locking characters behind Amiibo is fine if they're unlockable in-game for a reasonable amount of effort.
Well I mean, putting out an amiibo that is based on dlc is really redundant. So instead of just making a character that you have to buy twice, USE THE AMIIBO DAMMIT!!
“What would happen if Arlo was put in charge of Nintendo, no questions asked?” My bet: Pikmin 4, Animal Crossing for Switch, and NEW Luigi’s Mansion. Did I forget anything?
The whole concept of amiibos infuriates me. I can see collecting figurines of favorite characters, but tying anything in games that are supposed to be fully functional out of the gate to a plethora of expensive toys bothers me to no end. I have never bought one and I never will. I've gotten along just fine without them as well.
My issue: "Oh, you want to play Twilight Princess HD and it's brand new dungeon's worth of content specifically for Wolf Link? Do you have the Amiibo? Oh, it's sold out? Too bad!"
@@BomberDX97 Yeah. I finally got to play it with FC chips and the most aggravating part is it's so artificially blocked off. At least with the CoO you have to figure out what you need to progress, but with Shadiws it kinda just says "NoooOOoOoO you CaAAAaaA,'t"
Am I the only one who's back here because of that amiibo cameo/reference in the Henry Stickmin series? I meant the one in the Cleaned 'em Out ending screen in Completing the Mission. *cough* Sven Svensson *cough*
Ninten-Pocolypse: After the devastation from the collision of Nintendo Universes, all of Nintemdo's stars will join forces for the crossover of a lifetime. In this totally not a Fallout clone, you, as Captain N the Game Master, will take leadership of a slowly reforming society with the help of your amiibo. Have Villager and Isabelle help aggregate to keep your bellies full. Have Captain Toad explore almagamated fusions of lands once common that now seem unknown. Have Smaus and Fox McCloud keep your camp safe durring times of unrest. Every Amiibo will have its place somewhere with its job to do. Will you be able to figure out who or what caused the phenomenon, and will you ultimately be able to find a way to bring things back to normal? It's up to you.
Honestly, I think the idea of an ENTIRE game locked behind amiibo seems like a little much to me. I know you want to push their sales, but it seems unfair to force someone to pay 100+ dollars just to get the full experience of the game. Rather, I think you should start out with a Mii in the game, and have Amiibo be ways to access the other characters. Now, instead of making it impossible to get the characters any other way, make the characters rewards of unique sidequests- in a position where the player can see the character before doing the quest. Don't make them unfair or grindy, but rather interesting and different, something closely related to the character. And if you buy the amiibo but also complete the sidequest, you get new functions for that character- like new abilities, or out-of-combat functions, that couldn't be used without the amiibo but isn't taking away from the game for those without amiibo. This way, the game can both be accessable and fun for the player without amiibo but rewarding for those who collect them.
This was my main problem with Skylanders, that and the fact that you couldn't 100% beat every game (Up till Trap Team, cause that's where I stopped) without at least 1 giant, 1 normal skylander from every element, 1 TRAP TEAM skylander from every element, all $25 adventure packs, and the two later released new element Trap Team skylanders that came out HALF A YEAR after the game came out that unlocked these mystery gates that the game would tell you nothing about.
I think they could avoid doing the Skylander Problem by just having every part & challenge of the game accessible with just the Amiibo the game comes with, & if you want to do it again as another character you buy it only diffrence being flavor text. There, problem fixed.
More than anything, it's the fact that not only is it locked behind the figures, but that SO MANY of said figures would be completely unavailable in stores, and would see massive price hikes on the secondary market, either as a result of Nintendo's chronic short-stocking, or just the impossible logistics behind re-releasing EVERY amiibo that would be compatible with the game. I think amiibo have a chance to hit another high point with smash switch, hopefully they add in some additional functionality beyond what we got in Wii U!
MrGamernova but then there would be diminishing returns, if you could unlock everything with what came in the package, it would make buying/playing through with extra figures tedious and pointless, to most. It would essentially be one of the same problems Arlo brought up (amiibo only serving to give you a glorified costume, or a few items) all over again. In a game DEDICATED to amiibo, that'd clearly exist expressly to move figures off shelves, Nintendo is too smart not to lock content behind them.
I don't think that would be a problem, I mean they're the main draw after all. No one got Smash to fight Master Hand, & besides, just because you can go anywhere as all the characters doesn't mean they have to play the same, Look at games like SMB2USA or Sonic Mania or Star Allies or Smash, (Or that Super Mario Bros Crossover fan game) They can each have Special Moves that let them deal with all the same obstacles & enemies differently but still be able to reach all the same places. It'd take some doing to make it work & fun, but Nintendo has shown multiple times in the past that it does have the potental to do that & then some. So you CAN beat & 100% the whole game with what you have... BUUUT, if you want to do it again with these guys...
Have you played any Fire Emblem games? Typically, a game that uses Fire Emblem amiibos use them in exactly the ways that you described. Just to name a few examples: Codename STEAM, Fire Emblem Fates and Fire Emblem Echoes all let you play as, or summon a support of, the character you scanned. Having Ike fight alongside the Cowardly Lion?! How has this not sold better? If you're not a Fire Emblem fan, Super Mario Maker has a great premise with its amiibo usage, and updating the roster, as well as the move sets, of the characters you unlock, provided the game gets a sequel, would be a pretty cool feature of your desire. As for an actual amiibo adventure... They kinda sorta did that with Miitopia, but their amiibo support was lackluster. Maybe they'll make the inverse, where Miis become more of a collectable and amiibos become the selling point. That would be a fascinating strategy to see Nintendo adopt if they decide to make a Switch 2.
The idea of having Wolf Link play by your side in Breath of the Wild sounds awesome and makes me consider getting Breath of the Wild and a Wolf Link Amiibo. I only JUST got a Switch so I'm late to the party and was considering not getting BotW because of that but since I am a sucker for pet classes in RPGs having an Amiibo to make Link one really catches my attention.
There is a cheaper bootleg option. Get some bootleg Zelda amiibo cards. They have a wolf Link amiibo card that's already maxed out. $26 bucks gets you the whole set plus a wallet or deck case to store them. Look on Amazon or eBay. Type in Zelda amiibo cards.
Like 9Tailsfan said, just get the NFC cards (unless you want to collect the figures specifically). I got all 22 BotW NFC cards on Amazon for $14 with a carry case. In those, you get Wolf Link with 20 hearts from the start. I will tell you this about having Wolf Link with you -- he's great to have around the Great Plateau (starting area) but, later in the game, it's a pain. He aggros anything within a 50 foot radius and makes being stealthy impossible unless you purposefully make him stay (by targeting and hitting A) but if you get too far he will respawn next to you and aggro enemies anyway so it's a pain to have to constantly manage him. I wound up using him for the first several hours and then never took him out again, sadly.
It's gotten to the point where I'm gonna be getting those fan-made NFC cards on ebay or etsy, and then buy the ones I actually want to have in my collection. Example: I ADOOORE Splatoon, have since game 1, DAY 1. Bought all 3 avaliable on launch, last stock in Best Buy. Squid Sisters get announced, and they're bought before day 1 in stores at ALL the locations around where I live. And I doubt I'll be getting the 2 new girls, let alone the 3 pack of squid kids for splatoon 2. If I get all the cards tho I have 100% access to the in-game free gear and the likes, and personally I don't care as much for the 2 new girl singers as the Squid Sisters, so I'll still most likely buy their 2-pack if I can find them online in the future. Plus it's so much cheaper...
Also “In defence of Battlefront 2’s Microtransactions”, ARLO WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY i think the entire list of video ideas are jokes except for maybe amiibo adventure
Your thinking of an amiibo adventure, I'm thinking of a story mode for smash Because a story mode for smash is the same as what you are thinking with the amiibos, except with the figures.
Builder Bumpers Gaming yeah that would have it's merits, but I think what Arlo was thinking was that people who are fans of toys to life but not Smash Bros could still be very easily enticed. But in my opinion, you're probably right. Good comment. ☺️
Here’s an idea amiibo could add a story mode based a round what character u used and some new character skins And do more of makeing some amiibo companions on your adventure for smash bros
Toys for Bob is the game company that started this whole idea of an NFC reader as a game accessory, which is where the first Skylanders game came from. Toys for Bob made one of my favorite games of all time, star control 2, back in the 90s. After that they we're essentially a movie game shovelware company for over a decade before making Skylanders. And of course by the time the second Skylanders game came out toys for Bob was sidelined for a cheaper studio Activision owned and now toys for Bob is back to being obscure and unappreciated even though they started a PHENOMENON. I am sad :(
Toys for Bob still did every other Skylanders games. It was in rotation like Infinity Ward and Treyarch. Plus this cycle didn't start until Swap Force. Besides, they were always doomed to be obscure and unappreciated since Activision bought them, like that cheaper studio you mentioned, Vicarious Visions, or Beenox or Neversoft or Raven Software. ...Great, now I'm sad. Curse you Activision.
PIKMINROCK1 Oh God you're right, I forgot Activision bought them outright. Acti is a studio serial killer much like EA is. The toys to life craze is dying down so only a matter of time until t4b gets dragged out back and shot....noooooo :(
Well they are making the Crash port on Switch and the Spyro remake so, they will be around for at least a couple more years before they are fused into the Destiny / Call of Duty eldritch horror
The closet thing to this Amiibo Adventure we had is the Fire Emblem Amiibo in Codename S.T.E.A.M. Which, sadly, failed. No one ever talks about it, yet it’s a great game.
Ean Michael Sudholtz I'm pretty sure every review I read called it lackluster and I've seen it used in GameStop for like 5 dollars.. so I just assumed it was pretty bad
Just about to mention Codename S.T.E.A.M.! Having Lucina and Ike in game was such a great bonus for already having the amiibo. IS is probably the best studio when it comes to amiibo. Getting Lucina, Ike, and Robin in FE:Fates was awesome, though the bonuses in Echoes were a let down.
The only thing I found appealing about the game was that Marth, Ike, Lucina, and Robin could be added to your character roster... through some of the rarest amiibo ever produced.
As an Amiibo collector, I see how hard it is for ME to get a hold of certain Amiibo. If I have this many issues, I can only imagine how hard it is for the average consumer.
As an average consumer: yeah you can’t. Just hope your local Walmart happens to have just received the shipment... that day... because tomorrow? They’re all gone
Controlled scarcity. Its the best thing you can have for a product except strong growth in sold product. BAsically they artificially inflate the demand for the amiibo by printing just a few. Making enough for everybody to buy would decrease their value and the demand for it. Amiibo are not a toy they are a collector product, aimed at collectors just presented as something else to avoid backlash.
Bad Bread Maker same here. The now empty lot space. Of the X toys R Us store was stocked full with amibios and if I had the sense... (And money) I would of brought the stock in its stock clearance sale.
Bad Bread Maker Toys R Us is where I ended up finding 95% of my amiibo including Mewtwo, Gold Mario, Palutena, Lucario, Little Mac and Pit. I went to see what was there now, and there are only Daisy Waluigi and Animal Crossing.
I can go to gamestop or Wal-Mart and neither have any (except maybe 3 yr old ones sometimes). Like it's one of the few absolute shit things about Nintendo.
One word... *MOBA* Technically an acronym, but still. Mobas are the perfect evolution of amiibo. Honestly I don't know why anyone hasn't brought it up before. Mobas are all about having a single Arena base game with TONS of characters and their different movesets. And there's so much freedom for them to adapt any play style to just about any of their characters. Not to mention there's an endless depth of different play styles and combinations of different movesets. One game, infinite possibilities. Now, I know what you're thinking. Keyboard and mouse, Fog of war, auto attacks.. (toxic players..) But honestly, I think these hurdled can all be overcome. It doesn't have to be super complicated like LoL or DotA. In fact it SHOULDN'T be. It should be as easily approachable as Splatoon or Smash. Splatoon doesn't have crouching. Smash doesn't have charge meters. And this Amiibo MOBA doesn't have to have everything the others have. It just needs to be slightly fun and very casual and it will explode! I could talk all day about cool ideas to make this work but this comment is long enough. There's just one idea I really want to drop because I think it's relevant to the Amiibo market. I really like Arlos idea of any Mario amiibo unlocking a basic Mario. However, in a MOBA you could give them each the same character but with a slightly different moveset. For instance, Smash Mario, could have a fireball attack, but 8-bit Mario could have three smaller rapid fire fireballs. Same character, same play style, slightly different moves. It would be a hit for serious players really wanting to refine their gameplay, while letting casual people have broader access to Mario. And don't get me started on costumes.. That's literally how most MOBAs make their money. I know people are going to say it's impossible no matter what. But honestly I think a MOBA is the perfect game for Amiibo.
Axe-man Stroth, Thanks :) On another comment thread I also suggested that whatever this amiibo game turns out to be, it should be free to play downloadable on switch. Or at the very least, free with a small subscription. If they start selling all amiibos online and make the game free to play then their guaranteeing themselves a market. Basically, instead of copying Lego and Skylanders, Nintendo should try and make a copy of LOL and DotA, but with physical characters instead of digital. The game could be utter garbage but it would still make a bigger market for Amiibo AND sell Switches to boot.
Tory Evans as an active league of legends player in a somewhat "competitive" environment (I'm plat) I would hate the idea of a Moba amiibo game, I mean its way.different having to buy the characters with in game currency or money whenever you want or whenever they buff or release a champ you love to have to search for that amiibo that is the best at some role in that game, every Moba has balance issues and every Moba has its FOTM characters, imagine having to search for the Bayonetta amibo because she's the best adc and oh, there's nowhere to be found in any store. and if it's a really really simple game with no competitive side then it would get boring fast
And then I just realized you've acted each scene twice, once with your head and then the other with your arms just so that you can get a full shot of yourself. Kudos.
Nintendo did a good thing with amiibo in Fire Emblem Fates, having you scan any Fire Emblem amiibo they come to your castle and talk to you gives you some cool items then after you get to have that character in your army, then in echoes they made it that you have to spend 10hp to summon them for a turn and it wasn't as great as it was in fates
Velcoric yeah, but you could get Marth, Roy, and Ike for free in Awakening, plus a whole lot more. I liked that system a lot better. But yeah, Echoes' amiibo support was terrible.
the problem is that nintendo would put a price tag on the game itself. and you wouldnt be able to play if you dont have an amiibo, since for example adding mario as a base character would kind of rude to all people who own a mario one.
Bas Mulder but they could wait until they have new characters to release and put them into the box or do what they did for Disney infinity and make it so old characters would work on new versions
yeah, i realy hate these problems, i myself have become a collector myself. I collect all the zelda related amiibos and i am missing the smash toon link as well as the twilight princes and skyward sword link, the later of those were nowhere to be found and on amazon i would pay about 50€ for each. I hope these announced splatoon amiibos get produced in higher numbers so annyone who wants them gets them. Last week i went to my local medimax and saw a kid crying because he wanted a pikachu amiibo, you know the big one but all there was, was daisy, jigglypuf and nothing more. I asked the mother if they would wait about 15 minutes outside of the store, i went home and got my smash pikachu tu give it to that child. I realy hate how Nintendo is making children cry by aiming their product to scalpery (if that is the correct term).
Super Koala Jones He bought the first model when it came out in 2011, I think. He's said he can be pretty cheap. I have on old XL, not enough of a reason for us to upgrade.
One of my friends had the L button issue and my DSi currently has it with both shoulders. To fix his 3DS, we just opened it up and cleaned the contacts on the shoulder buttons with a small q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol. If you're young or inexperienced with taking things apart and putting them back together, try to see if someone can help you out. There are plenty of videos on UA-cam about how to do it, but there is always a risk of permanent damage so don't go jumping into it without doing the appropriate research and preparation. There are also some small game/electronics shops that may be able to fix it, and you can also ask those smartphone repair shops if they can do it (but there's no guarantee that they can or will).
+Cody Danny Exactly what happened to my 2011 model, luckily my 3ds was falling apart around the time the new2ds came out so pretty happy with the updgrade
It's still happening, i can't find most of the splatoon amiibo's only the basic inkling girl and boy. Off the hook is sold out and have been for over 5 months, i can't even find a single pearl or the octoling. amiibo
I don’t really care about Amiibo functionality to be honest. I buy them if it’s of a character I like, and the functionality is just the cherry on top. That’s the reason why I only have about a dozen amiibo that I never use (And three of them are Waluigi)
Shrek The Ogre actually I would love to see a bayonetta 3 improvement Using amiibo in a cool way having an hack and slash buddy and customized it maybe like Smash Bros have it eat food while she's battling this bayonetta 3 games get exclusive customs and outfits using the bayonetta smash bros amiibos and the new bayonetta 3 amiibos and add the stuffs from the first bayonetta 2 that have u collect halos that would be the best amiibo support improvement I will see in the next bayonetta game
I like the light touch method Nintendo employs in regards to amiibo. While what your talking about sounds fun, it's too money intensive. It requires lots of amiibos to function, or be worth it. As they are now, you can totally skip amiibos and usually miss nothing of great importance. Sure the gimmicks they open up are fun - but they aren't beat down the door you MUST have these toys kind of situation. That's why Skylanders and other toy to life lines withered and died. They squeezed fans for all they where worth until it was unprofitable. Nintendo, though, continues on. Oh, and you don't seem to mention this -- there was a free amiibo based game. You used Mario characters as toy wind up things for puzzles, offering exclusive puzzles for each character they included in the game
Exactly. People forget Amiibos went through a rough spell and were probably about to die out along with the rest of the toys to life. Nintendo has mostly stopped locking content behind them and now they are just an extra part of games that you don't have to have. Nobody wants to purchase $13 physical DLC, but the DLC is for a specific piece item you have to find and hope it's not rare and expensive. If nintendo didn't dial back they'd be dead. Going Amiibo crazy would've only led to Nintendo making them essential parts of their games and milking their buyers for money.
Yeah, besides Nintendo has a much more efficient target- kid software in the works- Labo, it's cheaper, and would probably go down much better with a wider audience than an Amiibo game may. I remember the horror that was Amiibo festival, man the community was pissed. I don't think Nintendo should develop an entirely new franchise to it, and a Game where you need to buy parts can only go so far on the imagination scale without becoming EA or worse mobile game companies- having to buy new parts to continue a story
Yeah. I recently got into amiibo. I never bought the Wii u, and the switch made me want to buy them. BOTW was my first Zelda, and now I love Zelda. I was your average handheld Pokemon player. Now I play so much more, and the amiibo makes me want to collect all these new franchises that I now know of makes me want buy them. But I head into my target or game stop and I become disappointed. The one time I became lucky was when my game stop had a og smash Link. Which I bought the second I saw. This video literally put my struggle in words.
I somehow by the grace of the goddesses have every single Zelda amiibo ever made, and the holy grail was when I got a Majora's Mask Link amiibo new from Japan for only $18.84 on Amazon at Christmas. ANYTHING Zelda is already hard cheese odds, but Majora's Mask is the holy mother of scalpers, and that thing gets a special place of honor along with my Skull Kid statue from Majora's Mask 3DS LE.
Look, I get what you mean about the toys to life part and wolf link in BOTW as an example, but the fact that I can't find a wolf link amiibo anywhere, neither in stores nor online, the fact that I will probably never be able to get wolf link in game is really annoying. Same with the weapons and outfits in botw. They are VERY minor things, but I do kinda feel like I'm being ripped off, knowing that if I were to buy every single amiibo needed to get everything that unlockable via them would cost me something like another 60 dollars is awful to me. That being said, your ideas for the game is better, being that you can use multiple amiibo to unlock a character. When it's done like this, I'd buy it!
+Blobin729 Gaming But it’s a tiny fan base. Which is a shame, because if they’d pushed back Splatoon 2 a few months, Arms might have grown enough to become self-sustainable.
I came across a Smash Link and the squishy Metroid/Samus double pack randomly at my local GameStop. I asked the manager how they got them. He said the warehouse will randomly find leftovers and send them on to retail sometimes. I shrugged and bought both in fear I would never see them again.
I tend enjoy videos like this with more than typical effort. Definitely enjoyed this one
Arlo Hi.

Arlo random comment: Nintendo kept using the SAME coin sound effects is getting too old and dull it’s been over used. The super Mario 64 coin sound effect is way better and nostalgia, why can’t they use it?
Hello
I remember when this video was new...
And Nintendo still hasn't done a thing with amiibo. :(
I'm actually making a video about the toys to life video, and yeah Amiibo are gonna be a big thing in the video.
I'm still sad that despite my huge collection, I don't have Young Link from Majora's Mask.
And that there were no Amiibo games that had a true functionality for them outside of Smash.
They still release figures too this day and yet they do nothing really which is sad.
I remember when this comment was new.
It isn’t.
Honestly, they are going to finish up the smash line and be done

There is a simple but impactful improvement to your idea: make the game free to play. You would need non-amiibo characters in the game anyway since you can't have an all-amiibo experience without expecting players to have a ton of the things lying around. Alternatively you could just include a Download Code with every amiibo

@@dexiedoo_octo *everyone, raid this person*
So after watching the whole video I realised it was 26 freaking minutes long.
Damn Arlo, I didn't even notice! *Keep it up!*
Onlime tbh I'm thirteen minutes in and he's already repeated a few things a couple times.

Make a Waluigi game, where every amiibo just does the same thing as the Waluigi amiibo.

Also, I would totally vote for Arlo as a Nintendo president.

I spent a lot of money on Skylanders,if Nintendo did something along the lines of that with amiibos.....I'd probably be poor and living on the street, but at least I'd have 500 figurines with me
I don't know why it never existed in the first place. I thought that was the entire idea behind toys to life.

Arlo’s playable in Kirby Star Allies, so maybe they could make a Star Allies amiibo line.

In the last couple of weeks my local Target, Walmart, and GameStops have removed their Amiibo sections. Probably because they were always empty of most figures, but overstocked of Animal Crossing figures.

Bards literally have healing word at first level tho

EDIT: Arlo's video is so true it isn't even funny. I love Amiibo, I love collecting them... But that's it. I just collect them. I scan them in the game however many times is required, then it sits on a shelf for the rest of its days. There was something so magical about Smash's way of handling them and Wolf Link, I'd love to see more of that if the idea of a giant Amiibo crossover game is out of the question.

I think Arlo knows enough about game design to know that speeding up Metroid prime 4 is a bad idea, unless you have a ton of spare change. That said, I would also push for a Waluigi game.

But alas, they were sold out.
A simple game where you scan your amiibo and then populate a town with them is GENIUS
Personally, compared to other Toys to Life games, Amiibo are doing the best thing possible. By not beholding Amiibo to one large product, like all the others T2L, Amiibo have avoided something I've coined on the spot called 'Regretability of Purchase'
Basically it boils down to 'Do you regret buying this?', with Disney Infinity it was a wholesale yes, the games were ok and later on they released Gold Editions on PC that forgoes the use of the figures, rendering them useless.
Locking characters behind Amiibo is fine if they're unlockable in-game for a reasonable amount of effort.
but then you lock them behind being DLC like sm4sh and make 2 of the top 5 characters (3 OF THE TOP 8) DLC worth $6 apiece and nobody questions it
Well I mean, putting out an amiibo that is based on dlc is really redundant. So instead of just making a character that you have to buy twice, USE THE AMIIBO DAMMIT!!
*Nintendo would like to know your location.*

"Or do you just want to party with Mario?"
The Catholic Nintendo Nerd plus he forgot yoshi’s woolly world

The idea of having Wolf Link play by your side in Breath of the Wild sounds awesome and makes me consider getting Breath of the Wild and a Wolf Link Amiibo. I only JUST got a Switch so I'm late to the party and was considering not getting BotW because of that but since I am a sucker for pet classes in RPGs having an Amiibo to make Link one really catches my attention.
Theriomancer you'd also have to get 20 hearts save on Twilight Princess HD

2:42 why shigeru miyamoto should be fired AND promoted
Fired, and then re-hired and promoted. LOL.
The duality of man
Also “In defence of Battlefront 2’s Microtransactions”, ARLO WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
i think the entire list of video ideas are jokes except for maybe amiibo adventure
Your thinking of an amiibo adventure,
I'm thinking of a story mode for smash
Because a story mode for smash is the same as what you are thinking with the amiibos, except with the figures.
Builder Bumpers Gaming yeah that would have it's merits, but I think what Arlo was thinking was that people who are fans of toys to life but not Smash Bros could still be very easily enticed. But in my opinion, you're probably right. Good comment. ☺️
Wii series (Wii sports, play, music etc) but with the amibos and mii
They could call it, "Amiibros"
Here’s an idea amiibo could add a story mode based a round what character u used and some new character skins And do more of makeing some amiibo companions on your adventure for smash bros
*you’re
PIKMINROCK1
Oh God you're right, I forgot Activision bought them outright.
Ryukachoo well they're devloping the spyro trilogy now so im hopeful about the future of the company
UB funkys
"I like the squishy ones" lol. Cute.
Can you PLEASE make that “Tingle appearances ranked in order of creepiness” video? I’m BEGGING you
The closet thing to this Amiibo Adventure we had is the Fire Emblem Amiibo in Codename S.T.E.A.M. Which, sadly, failed. No one ever talks about it, yet it’s a great game.
Ean Michael Sudholtz I'm pretty sure every review I read called it lackluster and I've seen it used in GameStop for like 5 dollars.. so I just assumed it was pretty bad
I agree! It really was a great game!
The only thing I found appealing about the game was that Marth, Ike, Lucina, and Robin could be added to your character roster... through some of the rarest amiibo ever produced.
i wouldve never thought about an amiibo adventure in a million years. Makes it feel more nintendo like with how out of left feild itd be
As an Amiibo collector, I see how hard it is for ME to get a hold of certain Amiibo. If I have this many issues, I can only imagine how hard it is for the average consumer.
As an average consumer: yeah you can’t. Just hope your local Walmart happens to have just received the shipment... that day... because tomorrow? They’re all gone
facts
Controlled scarcity. Its the best thing you can have for a product except strong growth in sold product. BAsically they artificially inflate the demand for the amiibo by printing just a few.
Making enough for everybody to buy would decrease their value and the demand for it. Amiibo are not a toy they are a collector product, aimed at collectors just presented as something else to avoid backlash.
But as Arlo said, if they're just a collector product, why even give them ingame features? Why not just regular old figures?
He told you, to avoid backlash.
My local stores are the exact same way, Arlo. I went to GAME STOP in the MALL OF AMERICA and there were 0 AMIIBO. How?!
Same I want a amiibo collection but never find any in stores.
My toysrus (rip) is fucking loaded with different amiibo
Wait how is arlo moving both hands and his mouth??
With his brain?
With his brain?
Well, how are you moving both hands and your mouth? It's not magic, dude
They're recorded separate, you can see the green screen outline on the hands when they're in front of his neck/body.
For the most part he only uses one hand actually, not both. Something about an injury to his right arm or something
It’s so cool to see that two of his amiibos came from me (Zelda and Luigi)
The Arlo Fan Community I bet!
Ben Ben what up my dude?
The funny thing is that those were my first 2 amiibo

'Get more Amiibos on the shelves' says the guy who bought a bazillion Starlink figures...
I just realized there are going to be new amiibos for all the newcomers to smash this year
Stephen Regan Can’t wait for my Shrek and Sanic amiibo then...
One word... *MOBA*
Technically an acronym, but still.
Tory Evans my god your a genius (and I’m NOT being sarcastic)
Axe-man Stroth, Thanks :)
On another comment thread I also suggested that whatever this amiibo game turns out to be, it should be free to play downloadable on switch.
Tory Evans That got me excited damn. And I don't even play MOBAs.
Zen Bastard, LoL thanks. :)
"I like the squishy ones." Good squishy.
I kind of want to send you an NFC reader so you can use your Metroid amiibo.
I wouldn't mind an Amiibo type of game. I also wanted to get into Lego Dimensions but no money...
the problem is that nintendo would put a price tag on the game itself. and you wouldnt be able to play if you dont have an amiibo, since for example adding mario as a base character would kind of rude to all people who own a mario one.
Bas Mulder but they could wait until they have new characters to release and put them into the box or do what they did for Disney infinity and make it so old characters would work on new versions
Bas Mulder it would come with like 3 amiibo...
Yeah but if it came with three which I think I should at least come with two just for variety but it would be pricey
I got the starter set and the Simpsons set. Not a bad game.
That GG clip gave me a smile.
One day Arlo.
One day...
I’ve come back to this video at least a once a year since it came out and still get hyped about a potential amiibo game
yeah, i realy hate these problems, i myself have become a collector myself.
Sadly, Nintendo has always favoured scalpers.
That was very nice of you... That kid must have been very happy
I doubt that an amiibo game would be good at all. Nobody wants to have to buy a toy to play a game
Ethan Hudson Well other than kids who make up a large portion of Nintendo's buyer base
Ethan Hudson "Nobody"? These games sold millions.
I could see a game like that being effective if you made the game itself free or insanely cheap, and use it as an incentive to buy more amiibo
Look at skylanders
My 7 year old cousin has almost 60 skylanders. Also I could use the game as an excuse to buy some amiibo
So arlo doesn’t have a New 3ds?
Super Koala Jones He bought the first model when it came out in 2011, I think. He's said he can be pretty cheap. I have on old XL, not enough of a reason for us to upgrade.
Does anyone have problems with their shoulder buttons not responding? I know it's unrelated, but the L button is strangely important in vidya games.
I don't either
+Cody Danny
Exactly what happened to my 2011 model, luckily my 3ds was falling apart around the time the new2ds came out so pretty happy with the updgrade
I know this is old but I legit remember going to 5 stores to find ANY splatoon amiibos I had to buy em online
It's still happening, i can't find most of the splatoon amiibo's only the basic inkling girl and boy. Off the hook is sold out and have been for over 5 months, i can't even find a single pearl or the octoling. amiibo
I haven't been able to find any of the Sm4sh amiibo for retail price anywhere.
It must've taken forever to make the thumbnail for this video. Good Job.
They don’t even have an amibo section any more at my Walmart
How does no one notice the ARLO funko pop on ARLOS shelf that’s awsome
Rickraptor Reviews when?
@@phage7889 13:15 or 13:19
You know what the real problem is? There’s only one squishy Amiibo!
The metroid one?
sergio- 24m yes, the metroid one.
At least the guardian amiibo glows in the dark when you shine a black light on it
We could always... *ahem* have a squishy Pyra amiibo. No? Just me? Okay.
Why is watching this making me want to but more amiibo
Funny watching this 2 years later and certain Amiibo are still hard to obtain.
I have the exact same story :D
no seriously I'm getting obsessed with Zelda i need help
I somehow by the grace of the goddesses have every single Zelda amiibo ever made, and the holy grail was when I got a Majora's Mask Link amiibo new from Japan for only $18.84 on Amazon at Christmas. ANYTHING Zelda is already hard cheese odds, but Majora's Mask is the holy mother of scalpers, and that thing gets a special place of honor along with my Skull Kid statue from Majora's Mask 3DS LE.
Phantasia Knights lucky
Random question: have you played any other Zelda games?
M Williams I have not, but I'm looking into the HD remakes for the 3DS
Arlo, you silly blue thing you, the Amiibo game you've dreamed of will come when you LEAST expect it! That's Nintendo for ya :P
Great video. Really enjoy this more considered, longer form video content from you. Keep it up :)
A bit footage is from Bowser and dk in Skylanders ... Lol
Yeah it's in Skylanders: Superchargers. A really boring game.
I just paid £28 for one, it's sad as that was the cheapest to find them.
that's why I don't remotely feel bad about pirating them
there are still a few I would buy if I saw them in stores. Guardian I suppose.
I got my wolf link when I bought twilight princess remastered on Wii U but i do see the wolf link around quite often
Just buy the nfc cards from japan.
I feel your pain. So many cool costumes locked behind a figure I can't purchase.
You glossed over it, but Breath of the Wild did amiibo right. Awesome, exclusive gear that was completely optional, and equal to game-obtainable sets
Anne Jizzle so true
Fuck you I wanted this gear and was frustrated to madness when I couldn't get it.
Anne Jizzle yeah but after you get epona ya never touch the things.
Vito vit wrong. After all the costumes you don't touch them
Exclusives should never be locked behind figurines.
Am I the only one who loved the Smash bros brawl story mode
bro thats my favorite smash yet it seems like everyone hates on it :(
I loved Brawl's story mode. It's the main reason I bought the new Smash and was severely disappointed.
Its my childhood and my fave Smash Game
no everyone liked that
Nope almost everyone loves it. Even people who hate brawl agree it’s cool.
I miss going to stores and seeing all the amiibo on shelves. I miss those days
I just realized that there aren't any ARMS amiibo.
I did too and I was like I'd buy Lola pop and helix
I don't think ARMS has much need for it.
emerald flare actually it has quite an active fanbase
+Blobin729 Gaming
But it’s a tiny fan base. Which is a shame, because if they’d pushed back Splatoon 2 a few months, Arms might have grown enough to become self-sustainable.
I don't know if you played Fire Emblem fates, but I feel that's one of the best ways to use amiibo.
That and Codename S.T.E.A.M
Love the references to Smash that they give upon arriving at your castle, it's a shame they don't have level up quotes or supports tho.
They work better without supports
I just want a Shantae amiibo. Is that so wrong?
Spawnfreak no
Not at all. for Half Genie Hero they need amiibos like Shantae,Risky Boots,Rottytops and others :)
I just want shantae in smash. Cmon guys.
God I love and miss Subspace Emissary.
ITS ALWAYS DAISY, WALUIGI, ANIMAL CROSSING, AND SOME OTHER HUMAN CHARACTERS
llama logic at least in my store you have some Mario and link amiibos
supersuato123 shut up
IKR!
Is my Walmart telling me that Waluigi and Daisy will never get off the shelves?
BUY MORE WALUIGI AND DAISY AMIIBO YOU SHITS
I came across a Smash Link and the squishy Metroid/Samus double pack randomly at my local GameStop. I asked the manager how they got them. He said the warehouse will randomly find leftovers and send them on to retail sometimes. I shrugged and bought both in fear I would never see them again.
2:41
Do make a bayonetta video Arlo ^^
Do limes make the game better? brb trying it out
2:42 I love your ideas list
This is my favorite Arlo video, and I come back to watch it every few months!!!
