    Hi, Dani. I have found that women with hairloss are DESPERATE for connection with other women with hairloss AND also advice. When I started making wig videos I did it because I also desperately wanted to connect with my wig sisters.... I never imagined the blessings I would find through this process. Sometimes I see hairloss as a blessing because it truly creates a platform where you can help others. You are so real in your videos so keep doing what you are doing because clearly you have an impact. Big hugs from one wig sister to another!!

    I’ll tell ya, “wig shaming” is very alien to me. I’m 67 years old with pretty darn good hair but I remember when I was in my 20s I used to wear what they would call “falls”, Afro’s and human hair pieces. Back then I never cared what anybody thought- I don’t remember anybody giving me a weird look because I was wearing wigs, I just loved them because they were fun.
    Now I’ve come back to wigs because I love they are more Natural than ever! that you can achieve a rooted look, and mono tops and lace front-Everything looks so darn natural😊
    Well-when people compliment me on my hair I tell them it’s a wig, and they just can’t believe it. I’m a proud wig wearer with good hair. So I guess my advice would be to walk tall and proud and to be darn glad that your hair looks better than anybody else’s!😊

    I wear wigs for fun, and I will tell anyone and everyone who asks that it is a wig. I could care less what people think! Wig shaming is just silly seeing as how everyone is obsessed with celebrities who are notorious for wearing wigs! How do they think certain celebrities manage to have different hair colors and cuts every other week cough*kardashians*cough. Keep on keepin’ on girl; your hair looks great!

      And wearing them for fun is totally different than wearing them because you're losing your hair.

    Dani! Your videos have helped me so much , I am seventeen and recently decided to shave my head in order to cope with a hair loss disorder I’ve dealt with most my life 💕 I’m starting to explore the world of wigs. Things are still a bit shaky, I just began my senior year in high school and the wig thing is definitely something new to navigate, especially in a high school setting. I’m starting to feel a little less weird about everything and your videos have helped me realize that hair loss and wearing wigs doesn’t have to be something to hide behind, but to have fun with and express yourself with! Love from Chicago 💕

    I definitely don’t mean this to sound rude. I love your wigs but I don’t have a fantastic man in my life footing the bill for a 1500$ wig. I hope in the future you might start to incorporate cheaper alternatives.

    • @marytimmins7406
      @marytimmins7406 5 років тому +9

      I've been a wearer of alternative hair for a long time now and trust me you don't have to pay $1500 for great hair. Many of the wigs Dani mentions are Jon Renau synthetic pieces and if you look them up you'll find they are reasonably priced. I've recently changed my style to a little Noriko piece and I pay $150.

    • @judedeprey6831
      @judedeprey6831 5 років тому +4

      Rebecca St.Germain First of all, you don’t sound rude. Most of us cannot afford those kind of weeks. I did about two months of research on UA-cam videos and on with sites online. After doing that, I went on eBay, I make sure that the seller has good reviews, as far as the buyers reviewing them, I make sure to look on the wig sites Once more before I buy. Today they have one in my color, it is pre-worn, but in good condition. It’s between $127 and $150 on most websites. It’s $20 plus shipping, $5.95, so it’s a really good deal. I signed up for Emails when they get namebrand pixie cut grey wigs... i’m on Social Security and could not justify paying much, but honestly, if you do research first, you can get some really good deals. You can’t jump at everything you see, that’s really tempting though. Good luck, if you have any questions just send me a reply. My best to you. I rarely pay more than $50 for a wig🌹

    • @AleksaDiaz
      @AleksaDiaz 5 років тому +3

      I agree! Then again, if she is rich then why would she buy cheaper wigs? I can guarantee you there are cheaper human hair wigs, try searching "Hair Vivi" "Uniwigs" "Amazon human hair" on here and see what you find. While she did some Amazon wig try ons, it was more for the sake of new content- she doesn't wear these outside the house.

    I recently discovered your channel and I honestly Love it! You are so real and quirky and remind me a lot of myself in those ways 💕😊 And that’s awesome! I also absolutely adore you and your husband and love that you two are Christians! My fiancé and I are also😊 it’s so beautiful to see Christian couples here on UA-cam that uplift the Lord and aren’t afraid to show it (on your guy’s wedding video💕) it’s just so lovely. I can relate with you about hair loss, I’ve been loosing mine for years now and it’s something that I constantly have insecurities over, and refrain from doing certain activities because of my hair loss. I feel for you girl, but you are so inspiring with how much you care about others that struggle through that also. It’s definitely not easy! I feel like mine is finally starting to get better, and I’m so thankful for that. I hope that yours does also💕 Thank you for your inspiration and your heart☺️

    I’m new to wigs too, but I think my hair loss is due to medications I had to take for a few months, plus I’m older than you. I still have my bio hair but it’s gotten thinner where I don’t feel nearly as comfortable or confident without a wig. You’re doing a great job and your husband is so very supportive. What a great guy he is!

    • @heywigsister

      Hi, Debbie... not sure if you are looking for more support from other women with Hairloss, but there are some really GREAT Facebook groups out there with "wig sisters" who are an amazing support.... I also do wig videos for a little bit of an older crowd, and the woman who follow and comment are also SPECTACULAR!!

    • @dkholdentx
      @dkholdentx 5 років тому

      Denise Sheets I am older.....65. Are your videos under your name? I am on one FB wig group. I don’t ‘have’ have to wear a wig yet, lol, but I had shingles in January and they put me on some pretty strong pain meds, which I needed but I resisted taking them for fear of addiction......they were that strong! I ended up having to take some but I couldn’t tell they helped all that much but the pain was completely unbearable. My hair started thinning just shortly after that but I had also just lost my sweet Dad from Alzheimer’s a few months prior to Shingles, and my mother from the same disease a year before. Maybe a combination of stress, illness, meds and age combined might have caught up with me 😩 If I wear my bio hair out, I have to use mousse and then ‘scrunch’ it as it is naturally wavy with a little curl but I told my husband if it starts really thinning out a lot, I’ll have no choice but to wear wigs anyway, so I’m just going to embrace it. I find I feel much more confident in a wig. I live on the Gulf of Mexico so there’s lots of humidity so my naturally wavy hair does come in handy, but the wigs come in really handy with the wind and high humidity when I want my hair straighter. I can flat iron my hair and between the back door and the car it looks okay, but by the time I get to church, it’s wilted, and forget about it if it’s raining or sprinkling.......I get home and it looks pitiful!

      @@dkholdentx I am so sorry for everything you have gone through!! Hairloss strikes at all sorts of times. i will tell you that SO MANY women have told me that they never stopped wearing wigs even when their hair started growing back because of the ease and convenience. I saw on Instagram that you went to the Hair Restoration Institute in DFW. You're beautiful with or without hair. I'm only commenting to thank you for sharing your story, this is a battle so many women and men face and your positivity is so beautiful. Also, if it were me, I'd see a board-certified dermatologist for a 2nd opinion, as HRI DFW does not have a dermatologist on staff. This is derms area of specialty (not a plastic surgeons). If you need any recommendations in the DFW for a 2nd opionion I'd be happy to share. Just to rule out other forms of hair loss (i.e. fibrosing alopecia, telogen effluvium ....)

    Thank you, thank you, thank you!
    I like what you said about not letting the loss of your hair stop you from doing things!
    As of now, I wear a hat ALL the time (out)... Well, it is quite challenging when I am more formal...then it’s trying to place extensions to make a high ponytail...BUT...it’s hard to do it myself, and still haven’t made a hairappt. Because it’s hard to fit it into my ” getting ready” routine, I mean, how much time do I want to spend on getting ready?! It’s not my wedding!!!
    So, I will visit the wig shop in LA, that you liked ( I live in LA)...but my hair loss is the worst in the front area, how to conceal this is of utmost importance...I don’t want it to look like I have a wig on! Otherwise, I am happy with my looks as they are..by the way, I am quite fair. SO, after all this rambling, I get you! But, actually demonstrate the front concealment would be a great video, and dealing with WIND! Thank you sooooooomuch!

    I love you so much and this is in nooooooo way hate. But you don’t *have* to wear wigs as you indicated in your title....you choose to. I know a lot of people who suffer from hair loss that don’t wear wigs because they don’t want to or can’t afford wigs like yours. I think you saying you *have* to wear wigs because you have hair loss might make other women with hair loss feel like they have to wear wigs too. And they don’t. It just feels gross to me when you say you *have* to wear them and I think it sends a negative message that women have to be ashamed of hair loss.

    • @morganabest2771

      Jessica Hall I have lost all my hair. Trust me, those of us dealing with this have bigger concerns than this lady talking about how she personally needs to wear a wig. The fact she is being so open and honest with her hair loss when so many of us cannot even say the words “I have hair loss” is a huge victory for us girls in the hair loss community. It’s gross to me that a person who is helping so many of us by being open about her hair loss on UA-cam is being attacked for not talking about her hair loss and wigs the way you personally feel is correct. I don’t want others to stay silent about their hair loss just because they are scared of saying the wrong thing. She’s not telling the rest of us hair lose girls to wear wigs. She is saying she personally needs to wear a wig, and that is not at all offensive to me, a girl with hair loss who never for a second watching this video felt shamed for not wearing wigs. She’s doing the best she can. And she’s doing a beautiful job.
