Great video. One quick question. I’m wanting to purchase the chainsaw for my husband to take on the sxs rides for just in case. Can I use the 2 and or 4 ah batteries I already have or do I need to fork out the extra money and get the 6ah? I already have 2 chargers and 2/2ah & 2/4ah batteries, so was hoping to save a little and just get the tool itself. Not gonna be cutting anything large just mainly big limbs and smaller trees around 6” - 8” that could possibly be blocking a trail on our rides. Not looking to use for firewood. We have gas powered ones for that.

What you have already will work perfect! Just make sure they’re fully charged before He hits the trails 😊.The bigger batteries just give you more runtime and slightly more power with the newer technology. At some point when you find a sale he could opt for a bigger battery. However, he may not need one if it’s only a couple cuts the odd time. I’ve cut quite a lot with a 4Ah battery. Hope that helps. 🙂Dan

Hello Dan…. Recently picked up a 1/2 drive Ridgid impact,( 900+ ft lbs) they claim.
(Home Depot) had a “special”, It came with 2 4 ah lithium batteries.
I’ll be working on my car mainly with this,
dropping the sub frame , then dropping the motor and tranny.
What battery would you recommend for disassembly, as there may be some very tight nuts I’ll encounter.
I was thinking of getting the 8 max output and be done with it :)

The only issue with buying the 8Ah is the weight. Whereas 2 4Ah would be lighter when used all day. Buying the “MAX Output EXP” would give you almost the same power, just less run time. It’s like most things, preference based on the person and needs of the tool. Also, if you have a fast charging system, you can cycle through your batteries and have no downtime when using your impact. Just a few thoughts,Hope that helps. Don’t forget to register your batteries and your tool of course for the LSA. 🙂 Dan

Recently purchased a few Ridgid tools … thanks from Alberta, Canada for the battery vid Dan..👍
I did get some batteries with a couple of my purchases.
    2 and a 4.
(Home Depot) had some specials on.
I’ll def get myself at least one 8 max output battery.
Not so much a wood work guy , more so a metal guy, as I was a welder. ;)
Nice shop set up btw Dan.
    🤜🤛

I have a new R86211Octane High torque impact i just bought its 1500ft lb of torque which they dont make anymore now i have no octane batteries i have 4ah max output and 6ah max output i know the octane batteries talk to the tool i have found octane batteries on ebay new in the pack most of them 3ah a few bigger but would you recommend getting a octane battery for that impact to get the most out of it and should i get one bigger than the 3ah octane if i can find one.

I wouldn’t buy any on eBay or Amazon mainly because you can’t register them for the LSA Ridgid offers. Apparently Ridgid is strict on what suppliers they will warranty their products though. But if that’s no concern to you and you can get a great deal, why not add more batteries to your collection! Personally I haven’t noticed any difference between octane and the lithium batteries. I have noticed a big difference in the max output series of batteries 🔋 in comparison. Just some thoughts. 😊Dan

@@ShopTalkWithDanTheMan Thanks for the the advice I believe I will buy the 8ah max output exp and one octane 9ah I found with a new charger off Ebay. The LSA just for the one octane battery not to big of a deal my other 6 batteries are covered so that part will be ok it's odd Ridgid didn't stay with the 21700 cells in all the batteries.

@@tonylilly80284 months late, but I hope you don’t mind me sharing…I have the same Octane HT impact. I get best performance with the 8Ah Max Output. The 9 ah and 6 ah Octane did not have 21700 cells, just 18500 and don’t seem to have quite the breakaway power of the new 8 ah (but were beastly in their day) maybe that’s why. But cell size is just one variable, the Max Output 4 and 6 ah are the same size and cell config, but the 6 has even better 18500s giving it less voltage sag under load, and more capacity, for example.
I don’t know why but some of my Octane tools perform best with Max Output batteries, some are too close to call and some prefer the Octanes (probably the tool/battery communication design of that gen). Almost all my Max output Gen tools prefer the newer batteries. That Octane 3 ah is a bit of an anomaly as it might slightly outperform a 4Ah with some tools for a second or two under heaviest loads, but in those cases , I usually just switch to the 6 or 8 for demanding saw or drill/twisting jobs.
That said, I bought some Octane batteries 2-3 years back as they were being discontinued, but in hindsight I wish I bough the Max outputs for future proofing. Just my experience if any future reader is in a similar situation.
Hopefully new compact tabless 4Ah coming soon will make be a nice add to folks on the Ridgid platform looking for a smaller footprint battery with a bit more power.
