Just a thought! I think that expat forget that we meet a Filipina woman online, come here and forget we are intruding on their life style, and try to control her. My Girlfriend would always ask if she could go and hang out with her lady friends, I would always tell her she does not have to ask! Understand and become involved with her friendship circle. Keeping parts of her life as hers is important. I use my time when she goes out, I watch the movies she does not like. I don't message her at all at those times. She always keeps to her schedule. Brings me a treat when she comes home. Living together for 1yr 1/2, no major issues.
That’s why it’s a good idea to take it slow when you get there. I know Mike has talked about it a hundred times. But when you feel invisible in your home country, and you are suddenly a desirable commodity there, it’s hard to wrap your head around the fact that you suddenly have options…choose wisely!
It fails because all those 75-80!years old guys want to date 18?years old girls !!!! Crazy !!!! Look for women of similar age to yours !!!! What young girl wants to live with 80 years old sick man !!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Filipina is from Occidental and soft spoken. 3 daughters. I will treat them as my own, no one ever asks for money, so I think maybe I lucked out. Got married Friday. She is 53 and I am 67, so not a horrible age gap. It is not about me. It is about "us."
And I forgot to add.... Once you get the temporary passport, you have to go to BI to have them research your original entry date to get a new entry stamp in your temp passport. I believe the temp passport has about 2 pages in it and is good for one year. It costs the same as a 10-year- about $140.00. So, it's going to cost you well over $300.00 by the time you tip the PNP, the BI, transportation to and from the embassy or consulate, etc.
Mike, you talked about crabs in a barrel mentality in the Philippines. Do other ex pats try to hit on other ex pat's women knowing they are with an ex pat?
I have been here since 1983, every man except two I know has cheated on his wife/girlfriend. The opportunity to stray is available in every corner of the Philippines. I have been married to a few Filipinas, single today, plan to stay that way. If I have another child I may get married again. Philippines is a single man’s paradise not so much for the married men.
Over the long term 10 plus years, very few foreigners stay in the Philippines for one reason or another. Plus over time the foreigners outlive their usefulness and the reason why the Pinay was needed is no longer there. Even my wife of 22 years would get rid of me if the money was not flowing as she has her own income and asset stream. So we are not indispensable.
In reference to previous stories in which the gf took her man's passport and other documents, I need to add here that it is a problem for the man. It's not easy to get a replacement passport. One can be gotten the next day if in Manila and you already have photos and the original police report(but only good for one year and has limited pages in it). The replacement passport is good for leaving the country and returning to your country. You must apply for a new 10 year passport. The replacement passport is not free. You have to have submitted a report to the local PNP station, with explanation in detail as to how and where your passport was stolen or lost. No foreigner, especially an American, should never just shrug it off if his gf takes his passport. He should immediately report it to the PNP so that they can take action to get it back. They know what to do. Yes, they'll need a 'tip' for taking action. But taking of a passport is serious, even under Philippine law. That passport can easily be sold to a broker or dealer in producing forged passports.
I like Chad too but his wife was an opportunist and took him for a ride. You could see it an American "Mile Away". Also that Canadian guy is going down the same path, once she is independent she will fly south for the summer.
@petesrules1508 i disagree about Kat (Mike's GF). I don't think she'll run from Mike. He treats her well, spoiling her with wonderful trips. Her daughter adores him. Also, Mike is very good looking and not old. (Old isn't a bad thing IMO though.).
@@Robin-xt7yo that's always a possibility, he hasn't bought any tangible assets, he has rented and not married her, maybe he's smarter than we thought? Just to clarify I wasn't talking about Mike and his partner. It was the Canadian guy, nice fellow but maybe smarter than I thought.

I have no problem with a woman at least close to my age. I'm 67, she will be 61 next month. I've visited twice. And want to stay longer.
