    This just feels like a gross invasion of privacy, especially because it wasn’t cleared before she started talking about it. I’m just glad this ended up in a good spot.

    This just kinda feels gross. I'm a jeweler, I re-set family diamonds all the time. But what happened to the original mounting? Another sister could have put a new stone in so they could still wear the ring. Or turned it into a pendant depending on how it was made, maybe even one for each sister. And altering the dress so it basically isn't mom's dress anymore? If she were an only daughter that would be one thing, but she's taking things from her sisters who also loved their mother. I'm glad they were able to talk it out

      Great point! They could have had two pieces of “mom’s” jewelry that way.

    It’s the entitlement that bothers me. She got the ring and she altered it to be unrecognizable. She’s getting the dress and will make it unrecognizable and now she wants to photoshop her sister out of a photo with mom. I don’t like the entitlement of the little sister. I’m glad they worked out the photo situation and might save the dress.

    There's also a legal aspect if it's a professional photographer who took it.

      Not really, as long as the original photo is intact and a graphic designer doesn't claim the original photo as theirs no copyright is broken. It's like how on youtube you can react to someone's content and it's fair use as long as you add or change it enough that the photoshop work makes it a new image. It is very common for graphic designers to make a living doing request like this, it's not the photo the designer claims, it's the photoshopping. You may have case if someone then uses the new photo a for profit marketing campaign, but just to hang in your home or repost your social media, nah.

    The solution of creating an entirely new image is an improvement on the sister's original plan in every possible way. OP doesn't feel like something is being taken from her, and her sister has something actually unique that she can call her own, not just an altered copy of what OP had.

      Yeah, either another family matriarch helping her with something; or the father. Why go to the trouble of creating a false memory? Strange.

    The wedding dress chopping and engagement ring altering are so reminiscent of 27 dresses.

    In the end, the sister might have a photo of her with her mom, but she won't have the memory of it. I hope that the sister when she took the diamond out of the ring gave the actual ring to one of her siblings so they could put a new diamond in it and keep it. It doesn't sound like that happened though.

    • @MaineCoonMama18
      @MaineCoonMama18 2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah, the ring part was sad since the other sisters also wanted it. I'm glad they reached an agreement on the other things, though. My cousin reset our grandmother's diamond, but no one is bothered by it. I have our great grandmother's wedding ring.

    It’s giving “27 Dresses” haha I think the picture is a last straw after altering the ring and planning to alter the dress beyond recognition. I don’t get why she wanted either if she just planned to change them that much. Glad OP came up with solutions that resolved the issue.

  • @merlinathrawes746

    I'm a bit confused. Does the younger sister actually have a copy of OP's wedding photo that has her mother or is she planning on taking OP's picture from OP' wedding album and using it? If the sister has a copy of the photo there's not much she can do except say she disapproves of it. If sister is planning on taking it out of OP's album, she can simply refuse to give her access to the picture.
    Sounds like OP found some very reasonable compromises that her sister was open to. Good luck to all.

    Give me all of Mom's things because she wasn't at my wedding...now watch me remove all traces of Mom from these things🙄 Now give me your memories so I can change those too. Sister seems like a selfish little brat, who uses the death of of mother as a weapon against the family.

    I understand wanting to protect the sister’s feelings but the entitlement is what is ticking me off. She is taking momentos from her mother away from her other daughters. They all lost their mom too.

    Feels like little Sister doesn't have the same sentiments about Mom as the others. Have they spoken out about the hurt about the ring and dress? Would be a beautiful painted portrait. Add Mom with wings.

  • @kayjacoby290
    @kayjacoby290 2 місяці тому +2

    Little sister is inappropriate. What's next, photoshopping any pics of sisters w/their kids & mom out, to put herself in? Yes, it's sad her mother can't be there for her wedding. But it's even sadder she wants to use someone else's actual experience to pretend it was her own. The obvious thing would be to get a pic of their father putting a necklace around her own neck.
    The ring was inexcusable, the wanting to butcher the dress is more selfishness. But wanting to literally erase someone from their own history is next level. It's not just a picture, it's the thought that counts. And this is some twisted; jealous; me, me, me, me, me, behavior. Sounds like Dad knew what was what when his first impulse was not to put his wife's engagement ring aside for her.

  • @tryingtothrive157

    Somehow, it feels like OP feels resentment and drawing the line at the photo. OP advocated for the ring and gave way for the dress. OP feels hurt and decided the photo is the line. I understand. Glad the two of them had a good sit-down about what has happened. It's sad if the relationship gets burned because they all miss their mother and expressed it in a mix of selfish ways.

    There may be an issue with altering the photo if a photographer took the picture. I think they hold some kind of copyright or something on the photos,even if they are bought by the customer. I could be wrong .

    Sister is pulling the “I didn’t get to have mom at my wedding” card, yet she altered her deceased mother’s dress and ring beyond recognition. It’s probably those actions that make OP feel the way she feels about the photo.

    A picture is a memory, and the sister will take that memory. From what we hear, she is gonna spread that photoshopped picture everywhere and claim it as hers. That’s a memory with OPs dead mum, so I see she doesn’t when it taken.
    Also, the sister sounds like she found the button to push to get everything she wants, so she pushes it like a rat on crack.

    NTA it’s just weird . & it’s weird she changed your moms ring. Don’t let her alter the dress. Can’t she get in trouble with your photographer? All professional photographers i know do not allow stuff like that. Copyright or something of the sort? Everyone is babying the sister too much, her grief isn’t larger than any of you other family members . She’s acting like a brat.

    Argh this kills me to say, but re: the photo, I utterly disagree. But I am biased and maybe that gives context, which is the key here. I have minimal photos as a child, especially happy ones. So I can see how a photo may represent so much more than words can say. For me personally because I am weird, I’d have the Fonz in the background jumping the shark. I’d go all out. Why not?? If we’re making up memories lets make them super special…
