  • Dominic Barton has announced he will be stepping down as Canada's ambassador to China. Barton, a former executive in a consulting firm , will step down at the end of December.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appointed Barton in 2019, and tasked him with freeing Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor from Chinese detention.
Now that the task is done, David Akin explains why the departure might mean a new approach to relations between the two countries, as Ottawa still faces many diplomatic challenges with Beijing.

@comment sense war with China is imminent.. the writing has been on the wall for years.
Either way, you lost all credibility at “systemic racism”..

Canada is in denial of its systematic racism. It’s unbelievable and unbearable for some immigrants. It talks about inclusiveness and equality every day. The reality is very different. The nonwhite immigrants are expected to work twice as hard while the local whites have all the top positions.

This administration needs to understand the world has changed, long ago. How nations vote at the UN was a clear indication of that, but we're still in denial. Americans are loosing allies left and right because she only knows how to use her "allies" as political coverage and proxies nowadays. Canada needs to be way smarter diplomatically.

Instead of being so nagative every single day about China, why can't you people just have a positive attitude towards all nations, How is this anti China songs you guys sing every now and then helping you people?
China is here to stay and by it's destiny will be what it must be. So you guys must bare it,as you can see, China is not bending an inch.
