  • I get charged by cows (bullocks?) again while out for a run. They start from a long way off and seem to try to head me off. I try to stay calm (no shouting this time) even when they're running at me and close.
I briefly feel the need to wave my arms at them near the end when they're really close.
I think I did the right thing, I didn't want to turn back on seeing them cos I wanted to stay on my running route, on a public right of way.

These are bullocks, and are beef cattle. When they see a person in the field it usually means something is going to happen, like being moved or fed or whatever. The farmer will usually want the cattle to approach and follow. They're only youngsters, maybe 18 months or so. Once they get to about two years or 10 Cwt, it's a bolt in the head, otherwise they might make 20/25.
    Not much of a life.

People grow up. I work on a dairy farm cows are harmless and very curious. If they scare you stay away common sense

I've tried to avoid this field. Yes dairy cows are a lot more docile.
