      All cows experience grass. They are only kept in the cow shed during winter. It would cost to much to keep them in any longer. Cows eat a lot and they do best on grass.

      Audrey Young Humans evolved to drink milk and eat meat. Stop being so sensitive. Cheeseburger and milkshake is heaven.

    • @quivuswillow8960
      @quivuswillow8960 6 років тому +6

      Audrey Young your attempt to be savage or step out as the victor in this is fruitless because as anyone can tell, these cows are happy and frolic. That is a sign of happiness. Just cause your not into animal husbandry doesn't mean someone else's opinion that it is perfectly fine, is invalid. These animals were raised and breed to be used for human consumption and the fact they have milk that most humans want and like, is the reason these aren't beef cows.

    • @klikbate8916
      @klikbate8916 6 років тому +9

      Audrey Young i love these happy cows as much as anyone, but humans are omnivores biologically. It is okay for us to enjoy animal products. Dont treat it like it's unnatural. I mean of course we could go about it in a more humane way, but it isnt wrong to eat cows or any other domestic farm animal. We bred them to eat them

    • @triggeredmate2347
      @triggeredmate2347 6 років тому +7

      kitty kitty Honestly, if humans were designed to eat meat it wouldn't make sense that 9/10 top killers are diseases caused by the consumption of meat.
      Besides that, you can't say it's okay to do what you want with an animal because you bred it. 100 years ago we "bred" slaves to use them, now looking back that might've not been the nicest thing?

      did h know that cows ger vurbed for the number, impregnated from a mans fist, the body used as a machune for milk. Their babies get ripped away which is a lot of emotional stress and because they get impregnated every year their vody collapses around 5yrs altho the normally woukd kive uo to 20yrs. Abd then they get killed for meat. Not very happy and its everything else but kind.

      Susi Batstone They're only happy now because they got let out of their pen. They spent all winter in a little pen and are kept in perpetual pregnancy, just so you can have a bit of milk in your tea or on your porridge.
      What's happening is unnatural.

    • @thefunkyfarmer
      @thefunkyfarmer  9 років тому +194

      Interesting comments from Superjourneyer, please allow me to reply. They are only kept inside during the winter as they would suffer from health problems if kept out over winter. If you look at some of my other videos you will actually see that they want to come inside from November and actually wait at the gate to be let inside when the weather brakes. As for being perpetually pregnant you are mistaken. The cows are given a rest period before they are served again, far more so than in nature where a bull would try and mate with a cow as soon as it could

      I grew up with some cows. They know more tricks than the dog lol.
      Its just the same as saying dogs and horses are stupid, if you don't train or condition them they will live their lives more independent of humans. Even then, they are intelligent. An average cow will recognize over 100 cows individually. And that doesn't require human training.

      @commnter10 9 років тому +2

      Djas Kang I agree. I don't like total confinement operations. Farmers in Missouri have already figured out how to raise hogs outdoors in partly wooded pasture, which is fantastic. People are producing eggs without total confinement. If people will support them by buying ag products produced in this way, that's great. Dry-lotting or putting cows in a barn for the winter is better than keeping them on pasture in some areas, though. Some soils when wet can't take the hoof traffic without developing impairing soil compaction problems.

      +Djas Kang First you need humans to stop with over consumption. This goes for developed countries.
      Let's take USA for example, if ordinary American would eat meat once or twice per week farmers wouldn't have to produce so much meat (no overcrowded industrial facilities). Same goes for the rest of the world.

      Cows r essentially very emotional animals.. They consider their owners family...We had cows..and a water buffalo.. And an ox..The ox wont even go back to its shed at night until my old Grandpa said a few words to him ..He wud just come n stand near his chair and wud refuse to move.. 2 old guys..who worked for 20+ years in fields together..
      When my grandpa passed away..(we hav many days of rituals in India), the ox, which was very old and just stayed home..not even leashed...it wud come to the door from its shed and wud listen in to all the chanting of rituals etc standing there for hours ..and wud leave only when the rest of the people left.. He too passed away soon after..He was buried near where my grandfather was cremated.. When we go back to our village..we always go there and fold our hands in reverence.. He is as much our elder as Grandpa was and God too..for us..😊🙏

And it makes me very happy to see people like you who definitely love the animals, understand they have feelings and I think chose to be caring instead of just thinking on $$ and profits. Human do, in fact, need to eat meat in order to survive in mass. We're evolved as omnivores.
    That doesn't mean that we can't let the creatures we eat have happiness and live life, though.
    Thank you for letting us see this. This is very uplifting.

    • @ryarod
      @ryarod 8 років тому +1

      Noam Chomsky Honestly, a fruit-heavy diet seems highly feasible. However, the claim that we were primarily so seems a little sketchy. We evolved during a time of great climate upheaval and fluctuation. Much of that involved drought and desert life, if I recall correctly.
      On account of this, I have to imagine that fruit was probably too unreliable to serve well as a primary food source. Yes, it'd be plentiful during wet times, but during the desert periods it would have been uncommon, and highly seasonal.
      Also, I have to say, our teeth don't seem specialized for fruit. Among other things, I have trouble imagining what purpose our canines and grinders are supposed to serve to this end.
      Our mouths do seem, in my opinion, very much like that of other omnivores. Incisors, canines, and grinders. Good at all, best at none.

      I did not realize going wholefood vegan could prevent 10 out of the following 11; cancer in smokers, emphysema from smoking, strokes,fatal accidents, influenza induced pneumonia, Alzheimer's, sepsis, suicide, cirrhosis from alcohol, Parkinson's and homicide.

      fshn4x4 Watch video Uprooting Leading Causes of Death by Dr Greger. COPD - higher anti-oxidants in fruit and vegetables. Alzheimer's is primary a vascular disorder therefore high cholesterol equals high risk. Parkinson's - neurotoxins in diary. Suicide - plant based diet can increase mood. Wholefood plant based diet can in some cases also reverse three leading killers Heart Disease, Cancer and COPD.

      For a severely mistreated cow, death is relief. For cows like these, being taken to the slaughterhouse is betrayal. There is not a right way to do the wrong thing, and exploiting animals for their bodies is the wrong thing. This may be less bad, but its still horrible
