I was also stopped in Newyork . As my initial H1B stamped petition is revoked and my current H1B transfer is in progress not yet approved. And I didn’t carry even a single document. They asked me to show the H1B receipt in the phone. I gave my phone they took the receipt number and checked in their system.

Back in 2023 when i traveled to india ... i faced same situation in SFO immigration counter. They asked me to open bank app and verified statement for salary credit. i actually took print out of my latest payslip and showed it .. but they were not satisfied with it.
