I really like how you give a real time run down on the bike the little things are just as important as the more technical parts of the build .i hope you have a good new year hope to see more in 2020
Thanks Mark. I have an 03 Harley frame Im thinking of making a trike out of on the cheap to pull my 57 xla chopper with. I like the displacement of the Honda for highway extended travel speeds.
With used ones, they're built very well. Just, if you go to pick one up, check your charging system. Take a pocket multimeter. Running should be anywhere from 13.5 to 13.9. Revving should be at least another volt added. Also, starter clutches can get magnetized and the starter will zing. All of the aforementioned takes place in a protruding housing on the left rear of the motor. Parts aren't that expensive, but the whole process is labor intense, because the motor would have to be removed.
Thank you for the comment. Stark contrast from an email I recently got on Ebay from a Goldwing VJMCer. Guy wanted to put me in jail for what I do to the Goldwings.
Mark Sosa hahaha. These bikes have a strong following. Motorcycles evoke emotion, sometimes nasty ones. I prefer them this way myself. Each to his own I guess.
i see by photos of the bike you shorten the front forks and the sit bar did you weld it to the plate. Just to let you know i am doing this bike for myself not for resell. I also know this is a business to you and probably not like answering alot of ?. But if I am going to build this bike who better to ask question but the person who build it in the first place. Like you said that was one of your favorites well i have look at alot of bike on the internet and that one is my favorite that's why i have started this build thanks again for what ever help you can give
Beautiful work. Im converting my '83 to a conventional fuel tank. The radiator (cap located under tank) is my biggest obstacle. Can you tell me where you sourced your radiator and fan set up? Thank you!
Nice build...Sounds like a lawnmower...I will stick with my KTM 950 SM-R 😁...Looks cool...Shaft drive..Must b a real smooth ride!👍👍👍...Good luck safe travels..
Thanks. Actually, my camera's audio doesn't like Goldwings. They usually end up sounding like that. But just think, if it was, it could cut your yard in no time and you'd have more time to do the things you like.
I absolutely love this bike build. And that engine paint, WOW!! Looks like it is dripping wet. In another video you said you used High Temp Urethane, what specific product is that? I'd love to try it myself. And why did you choose HTU vs. High Temperature Enamel? Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to message us. I wish I could tell you more on the qualities of the paint, but that was on the close-out shelf from the paint supply that I get my products from, so I don't remember any particulars. But, as far as the color, personally, I think the Goldwing motor is the only one that you can get away with using the color wheel. For some reason, any other motor would look gimmicky. Maybe it's the flat 4 design. You probably have a good point on your choice of product. As I said, it was on the clearance table, so I tried it.
They are a fairly big bike, this one is quite a bit lower than a stock one, it may be a bit cramped modded like this, but you could always mount the seat back a bit further.
how did you mount the battery? I am assuming it is tucked somewhere under the tank but just curious on your method for that. Overall awesome bike and I am looking into doing something similar.
Nice looking bike, Mark. Do you know what the tank or the radiator are originally off of? I have a 78 goldwing I'm considering doing in a bobber style. Any chance you might pull the tank off in the future so I can get a look at how you've got the battery and charging system? Thanks.
Why did you choose to go with the knobby tires? Is this bike capable of off road, or just dirt road type riding? Was it just a style choice? What is the final weight on the bike? I have a (New to me) 1978 GW full dresser that I am going through right now before I take it on the road... it's a heavy bike - probably too heavy for gravel or loose dirt roads. Nice bike, BTW.
Thank you for the message. Anything I do is just to pay the bills. . . takin' what they're givin' because I'm workin' for a livin'. I suppose you could try to get a Goldwing to go offroad. This particular bike weighed in in it's current state, at 435 lbs. That's probably around what some of those Dakkar or Big V-Strom enduros weigh, but there's a heck of a lot more tech going on. As I said, I have to make style changes to sell the bike. Whatever you do, if you can keep the bike performing as close to stock when finished, I call that a victory. Most guys, after done chopping up their bikes, live with the results, but they know it was probably a better bike before they started.
Mark Sosa - Thanks for the speedy reply. So, more of a styling choice, but it probably does help with dirt road performance especially with the weight reduction. Does that about sum it up if I understand your reply? BTW, I think that it was a great choice along with all of the other mods that you made. :) The only changes that I would personally make to the design is a small rear fender to keep water and dirt from the rear tire off of the riders back, and a removable rear seat assembly for two-up traveling....
Mark, Ive already my friend laid down. I did timing cover and belt. Li(e the opposing cjylider configuration. However, Im interested in a 02 lesabre. 3.8 supercharged. Make a great trike with ac and heat if you use enough of the car
Thats even cooler i assume like a car the advancement is vacuum or mechanical? What year bike? I know where 3 or 4 are here in Savannah, Ga. Wouldnt mind doing a version of bobber on one
No mechanical advance in the GL1000. The GL1100 had gone to CDI and had a mechanical advance in the back of the motor that worked off a vacuum from the #3 carb. Then, the GL1200s, the pick-ups were in the front of the motor, located on the crank pulley, and the igniter had a vacuum running to the #2 carb.
My engine, like yours, has an oil dipstick tube and loves 8mm and 10 mm and a t10 take it apart. It equivalence would be 70s american cars with 1/2 and5/8 and blah blah blah.Liked your project at about 65 or 70 percent. Hope I meet you maybe.
I really like how you give a real time run down on the bike the little things are just as important as the more technical parts of the build .i hope you have a good new year hope to see more in 2020
Thank you. That's a very nice message to end the year with. Hope you have a great holiday as well.
Its about the freedom and the open wind. Art has no bosses
beautiful bike Mark! iv got an 83 goldwing and im so wanting it to look just like this one here. i just love this look on a bike.
Wonderful bike. nice walk round, thank you for sharing. Presently I a rebuilding a GL1000 same engine. thanks
love the color schema. sounds awesome! I want to do something similar with mine.
this is cool build. Looks great
great bike and i love your attention to detail. You remind me of me :-)
Greetings from UK
Can you tell me about the rear suspension setup?
Ah man I love that beast. Nice work.
I love this man i want to do my bike this style
Wow
Cool sir

Again, nice looking bike.
Love the color choices on this one. Also, noticing the new lever design on the swingarm. Should sell fast.

What does a build like this cost?
I got the same tires !!👍

Love the style. Been looking into building one. Just curious on rider height. At 6'3 Is it a nice fit in your opinion
They are a fairly big bike, this one is quite a bit lower than a stock one, it may be a bit cramped modded like this, but you could always mount the seat back a bit further.
LMAO! I freaking love that it sounds just Identical to a VW! Hmm, idea of possibly swap parts? One off big bore. Like 2000cc vw jugs and huge heads.
Yeah, yeah, I dig, I dig.
how did you mount the battery? I am assuming it is tucked somewhere under the tank but just curious on your method for that. Overall awesome bike and I am looking into doing something similar.
They probably used a small lithium battery, it's what most of these builds have. They'll build a box and hide it under the seat or by the engine
Nice looking bike, Mark. Do you know what the tank or the radiator are originally off of? I have a 78 goldwing I'm considering doing in a bobber style. Any chance you might pull the tank off in the future so I can get a look at how you've got the battery and charging system? Thanks.
Mark, please, what tank is that?
Sick! I love it
Thanks. Check out our Vulcan X in Ebay completed listings or Google Images.

What kind of rear suspension does this have? Or is it a hard tail?
its a dual shock
What paint did you use for this build?
What brand bar is that? How many mm in diameter
Mark, Ive already my friend laid down. I did timing cover and belt. Li(e the opposing cjylider configuration. However, Im interested in a 02 lesabre. 3.8 supercharged. Make a great trike with ac and heat if you use enough of the car
WOW!!! That should be interesting.
Where'd you find the tires?
Thats even cooler i assume like a car the advancement is vacuum or mechanical? What year bike? I know where 3 or 4 are here in Savannah, Ga. Wouldnt mind doing a version of bobber on one

What an amazing bike
How much frame modification did this take?
Thank you for the comment. Yeah, it's a lot of work.
Looks awesome. Makes me want to build one. How does it ride?
Thank you. Only thing, Goldwings have a very tall first gear. Can be awkward sometimes in tight corners.
hello there i am building a bike like this i was wondering where did you get the seat or was it custom made thanks
That's a La Rosa seat.
that is sweet! A couple questions where is the battery? Could this be done to a CB?
Thank you for the comment. The battery is where the center stand used to be. Anything can be done to anything if you have a big enough hammer.
El Paso?
and what type of bars did you use
You can get the handlebars from 2 Wheel Project on Ebay.
per chance do you know the type of bar they are sorry i am new to this bike building thanks for your help
@@Marijohn123 I think those were drag bars. If not, they may have had about a 1 or 2 inch rise to them.
@@Marijohn123 That was actually one of my favorites.
Wet weight, 0 -60 time, street tires?
Weight is about 435 lbs. Tires are Shinko 705 Series. 0-60 was 1958 and 60 will be June 22 of this year.
Incredible! Nice scoot!
Thank you.
Oh, and pull the motor for a magnatized stearter
Starter clutch. Most have little spring loaded barrels that spring out to engage the starter gear. They get magnetized and stick in their slots.
Missing on one sounds like I agree low speed jets
Don't think so. Bike dynoed out at 79 hp on the machine.
What paint did you use on the engine case?
High temp urethane.
Still for sale?
No, but I have one listed on Ebay right now.
Vintage? So it has a distributor and no computer?
No CDI. It's points and condensers.
Honda jx mik cafar
ua-cam.com/video/imFldLkpY1k/v-deo.html
Made in america on a honda 😂
You better stop while you're behind. Could get worse. Honda made Goldwings here in the States for close to 20 years. Ohio, was the name.
