Oppenheimer - Can You Hear The Music (Piano Version)
Piano Version by Patrik Pietschmann
Many of you asked for it, now you get it! "Can You Hear The Music" is the most interesting track from the new Oppenheimer soundtrack by Ludwig Göransson and could also be seen as the Main Theme. While this musical piece is very short and consists of a constantly repeating run (right hand in this case), the biggest challenge is the total of 21 tempo changes, which is why I practiced and recorded the arrangement with a click track. Since the right hand is already reserved for the run, which is played by the violins in the original, the left hand is responsible for melody, accompaniment patterns and bass notes at the same time. My goal was to write a playable piano arrangement that would still remain true to the musical character of the original. To do this, I had to adjust a few tempos, though I maintain the basic rules by which the tempo changes in the original. The upward moving first half of the run is in a ratio of 1.0:1.3 to the downward moving second half, which means that the second half is always 1.3 times faster than the first half. In addition, the overall tempo increases by 10 bpm after each completed run in the original. I adjusted it so that it only increases by 5 bpm at some points in the middle of the piece, so as not to end up in an unplayable tempo at the end. I hope you like it!
Any suggestions for future arrangements? Please leave them in the comments.
I don't think alot realize just how difficult this piece is. It's not that it's fast its that its time continuously changes in such a short span. You sir, have immaculate talent.
@@coconutsforeverybody 🤦♂(Not sure if a troll or just... sigh. There are just so many things wrong with that assumption.)
Thank god someone said it. I'm sitting here following along with time and I keep repeating, "Is it speeding up? Jesus, is it slowing down?". Its insane! My timing was bad enough already, now this!?!
For me the right hand in that speed is more difficult than the chaning patterns in the left hand. You have to understand that the downwards pattern in the right hand is still in 6/8 but double speed, so eighth-notes become much faster.
@@brettlucas5564there are 21 tempo changes in the song, your hearing is fine 😅
You sir, are a fish.

An Unbelievable amazing job again!! You never disappoint! It was incredible hearing you match all 21 tempo changes in this song! Thanks for being such a great inspiration for all of us

This made me laugh too hard
"21 tEmPo ChAnGeS" people just love to say that every damn time with zero originality.

As much as I think the original compositions are absolute masterpieces in every way. Pls never stop making these arrangements. You’re one of the only musicians I know whi can translate the feeling if the original pieces to piano, and still give your own unique twist on each one
Did you listen @nattaliepiano version of this?
@@vaniyokk I just did! and while she's amazing! Patrik Still has a soft grace that she doesn't quite have. Her version is a bit more loud and noisy albeit still amazing.

Your best cover so far man, I honestly didn’t think it would be possible to do a cover of this piece just using two hands, and yet you did it.
Best piano cover of this song in my opinion ⭐️
Patrik you are one hell of a human. Hands down like I have been trying to learn so many of your songs that you cover and man after 2 years of playing piano I’m still trying to learn them. Your amazing !!!🎉
That song was a really awesome change from your typical melodical soundtrack. It's just so unique and as always you've captured it perfectly
I found it refreshing as well.😉
Terrifying, brilliant, and beautiful at the same time really makes you think how big the world is, one of the tracks that can pare with interstellar. Very well done, hats off to you good sir 👏
Wow you are truly a master of your craft. Flawless.
Now I become Patrik, the destroyer of keys
Yeeeees!!! This is by far the best arrangement I've seen of this piece, both playable and that actually sounds nice
Your cover dropped like a nuke and blew each and every piano cover of this song out of the water.
You know a score's a masterpiece when Patrik arranges it.
OMG! The best cover ever seen so far!! Perfect mate, congrats...
Only cover thats come close imo, well done.
Perfect🎉
If you use this particle and wave effect on purpose, smart touch
Damn, I knew it was hard to play on a violin, but on piano - it's tough. But the result is so beautiful...
that is insane wow awsome cover man
Wow you must have a really good keyboard!
Totally kidding, this is absolutely incredible, well done!
Just.... WOW!
Yesssssssssss gives me liiiife
After I saw the movie, I was like "I wonder when Patrik will make a cover on this" and a month later, here we are!
Beautiful
I love this song so much it make me crazy
I’d love to see a MacGyver cover. There aren’t many MacGyver covers out there, and the ones that exist are very simple.
I'm pretty sure that more suitable music could not have written for this excellant movie.
This guy not only reads the music, but he hears it.
I KNEW THIS WAS NEXT!!! Amazing job! Sounded incredible!
How about a version of “We Are” from One Piece!! It is fitting these days!! Upvote it folks so it can be seen!!
Patrick 🔥🔥🔥
Insane
Best music
Well this is on repeat for the rest of the day! :-)
I'm amazed!! You are my best pianist, all your arrangementes and creations cause me goosebumps... I hope you continue playing and creating more beatiful songs!
Absolutely beautiful, awesome job
Amazing
That's amazing. In 2 minutes I went from thinking "Yay! New video from Patrik" to wiping tears from my eyes
we mere mortals can only dream of playing this
Oh my god i was asking you for this piece in ur previous video and you actually did it. Tysm man. Oh and btw can you do ur own arrangement for experience ( by ludivico einaudi ) pls :> ? It is a very famous piece that everyone loves to hear it

Mano, muito top rssr
I saw on one of your earlier videos “Can you do Oppenheimer?”
wow
Patrik you should cover some Jvke songs. The piano and instrumentals in them are amazing
How I feel when I'm sorting 7 papers of sheet music for this piece:
Would it be possible to play daydreaming dark dark dark ? ❤️
Please do an arrangement of ku fu panda 2
Maybe inner peace…po finds the truth..and lord shens theme
I am hoping for Patrik to do the Uncharted theme next. The movie is crap but the music is epic! (it's based on the game which is awesome). Regarding this Oppenheimer, I don't get the epic feeling of the music so not too pleasant to hear and I have yet to see the movie... Patriks videos are always flawless.
Великолепная игра⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Holy shit i asked for this on your last video 😂
Thanks for your suggestion!
This score got an Oscar, didn't it?
To be honest, I have heard a lot of movie scores that were more moving than this. It's just frantic to me, nothing pleasing in it or what I would like to listen to over and over again. Just nothing special for my taste. If you think about how many scores by Hans Zimmer did not win an Oscar and put them side-by-side with this piece, it makes me somewhat uncomfortable.
Please do „Lift you up“ by Sean Koch
Did you use the alternating click track aid like the musicians in the original?

When I was listening to this masterpiece, it reminded me of how the piano is the only instrument that can simulate an entire orchestra. Truly the superior instrument
You might be forgetting the organ!
@@Astro-X Correct, but honestly they're very similar in structure, except that the organ adds a layer of complexity with more octaves and foot petals. But an organ is not commonly available. It's a great instrument, one of the greatest, to be sure, but a lot of places have a piano. Organs are not nearly as commonplace.
There's no such thing as "superior" instruments.

Patrik Pietschmann, amazing work as always on this arrangement
whos here after ludwig won the oscar
For me Patrick is the best pianist on UA-cam just because he feels, hears and then delivers to us not only the overall vibe of composition, but also all these nuances and details in harmony, melody, tempo, dynamic and the bunch of other stuff that music includes. He just does it so well and also makes it sound like solid, complete and all-sufficient composition.
He’s literally the best
For me, this is what sets Patrik's arrangements apart from all the others out there. His ability to preserve little details and nuances from the original in his arrangements is just incredible.
I Hope he s gonna make other parts of the movie
Thank you so much!😊
@@PatrikPietschmann you’re my inspiration !!😭
Patrik, I've been looking forward to you posting this because you're the best at playing movie scores on the piano. You keep the original feel of the music while adding your own awesome style. Your arrangement is fantastic - perfect 10/10.
OMG..... This is also a movie
Can we appreciate that he put a finger number on every fucking note in the sheet music? That’s awesome!
"Sheet music is like algebra, the important thing is that you can't hear the math, it's can you read the sheet. Can you read the sheet?"
Been able to play it 50% speed and not so clean in 2 weeks. Ngl my right arm feels stiffer and bigger 😂😂
well, good for you, you dont have a penis
I'm newbie at piano but 1:15 this exact note that you hit with your little finger sounded too high for that octave. An i musically death or is it unsynched?
I play the piano for 9 yrs and the notes are perfectly fine, I replayed it many times but couldn't find wich hand and what note u meant, but even though Iooked for both, I couldn't find what u meant, maybe u could clarify on witch hand, what note and on what time.
@@PianoNoobRSI think means the melody (the right hand) on B. But me niether finds nothing wrong with the sound. Every piano sounds a little bit diffrent, might’ve been that
Finally your version! ❤️
21 different tempo changes, my respect for you is out of this world, I have no idea how you can play such a complex piece, I can only hope to be as skilled as you one day
Wow this was incredible!
From your description I could tell you put a lot of work into this and the result was definitely worth it!
Also, your piano sound was perfect for the piece and the use of the sustain pedal was amazing.
Congrats 🎉
“Algebra is a lot like sheet music, it’s not can you read the music, it’s can you hear it…can you hear the music, Robert…?”
I can play the melody fine but I cant for the life of me rap my head around the coordination when you need to throw the cords in😂
Only Patrik can make a piano cover and still capture the exact feeling of listening to the original. Amazing.
The constant tempo changes are sooooooo tough to handle, this is incredible.
0:34 you shuld put mezzo-forte in right hand and slowly going to piano and fortissimo in the left
but well played😍
Ich finde es jedes mal wieder erstaunlich, wie es dir gelingt, die Stimmung des Originals so gut einzufangen.

The right hand notes make THE GOLDEN RATIO !!! Outstanding!!
I really liked the "making of" of your arrangement I always have been interested in how you make those arrangement
The fact that you could capture all those emotions and dimensions of this masterpiece with one single instrument and make it so captivating is incredible! You are amazing as always ❤
One of the main reasons i started playing piano is your interstellar cover, and ever since then I've listened to almost all your masterpieces by now, and even learned some more of them.
I would love it so much if you would consider making a cover for Evil morty theme (real name: for the damaged coda)
I would love to hear it and also learn it from your style.
