while i do love each class being separated with their own identities and abilities, it forces u to to do everything 3 times just to stay up to date, if they added cross progression for most things or the option to skip if you’ve already done it then that would be fine but at the same time omnipotent guardians is such a dream that personally id rather have that, coming from a warlock main

Another thing, any mmo that goes with a classless role like that, (ESO comes to mind), has everything coming down to an incredibly boring meta. Metas develop in any game obviously, but without restrictions that classes give us, it gets very stale. If they are going in that direction, I do hope there will be systems in place to restrict things in a way that will diversify play

I don't think he's saying there no Titan, Warlocks or Hunter anymore, is rather that elements are tied to just been a guardian, on the Lore abilities or super are not tie to classes and has been narrated instances where a guardian will use different abilities that don't match to the ability trees we had, so in a sense you can have a Titan use Golden Gun, but you won't have a Titan using dodge because one is part of been a guardian the other is related to been a class.

I think you are forgetting that The Final shape was originally going to be a part of Destiny 3. So there are a big chance that everything after the final shape is just bits that are now coming to D2 instead of having a D3
Imo they just thougt about it and ended up having destiny 2 be the end of the light and dark saga with the episodes being some sort of epilogue + maybe a set for the new stuff coming in d3

Originally Beyond Light, WitchQueen and Lightfall were suppose to be Destiny 3. Then this version of Destiny 3 was scrapped and they decided to just add onto Destiny 2 like what WOW does. Then they added in Final Shape and thus forcing most of the OG Lightfall content to be pushed into Final Shape. Which is why the Lightfall we got was so disappointing, cuz it was forced to be filer due to time constraints.

I like the combining of elements and class abilities, but I would absolutely HATE classes going away. It's an RPG not just a looter shooter. I want class identity I want their to be these things in the game. If D3 comes out and you make 1 character and it had access to every ability/super I think a lot of flavor and soul will be lost from the game.
Imagine this system with an affinity system tied in, so equipping multiple warlock abilities/aspects/fragments gives you a warlock specific stat bump ie greatly increased recovery/intellect ect.

I hope they don’t get rid of classes entirely. The three classes are tied up with the identity of the franchise, seeing a fireteam made up of a Titan, Hunter and Warlock is just iconic.
I agree, but lore-wise it’s more typical for the classes to work with fellow guardians of that class than with each other.
I hope if Destiny 3 comes out that it doesn't have Time-gated content like D2, thats my biggest gripe.
Imagine having your own guardian signature weapon… i wanna see 4d crafting with full blown customization options.. adding sights/grips/stocks/reticles/engravings/heirlooms
you should be able to craft these, but find these from miscellaneous sources being open world and mission rewards..

I get the lore implications but I feel getting rid of class identities entirely would be a bad idea. especially since that would remove the replayability of playing multiple guardian classes
@@t.v.1201 the identities are still there its just a little different now and not trying to attack you but if you or anyone else wants to use titan abilities then just use titan abilities (or any or class) nothing is gonna force you to use anything else.
@@1tsBlank The identities wouldn't be there. think about it this way, if every class can do everything what is the point of having class exclusive exotics if those abilities are no longer class-specific.
Despite what people may claim, power fantasy and class identity is a big part of this game series. if every single class can do the exact same thing there is no longer any class identity. if a hunter can use titan barricade and a titan can use acrobatic dodge, what at that point separates them from each other gameplay wise. Even in lore yes guardian can use any other class abilities but you rarely see this because the classes from a lore perspective are derived from different views on the light and how to use it. there is a reason why RPGs have classes in the first place, not only to differentiate combat but also to help players identify with their play styles. A massive amount of people take personal pride in whatever class they main to the point where they don't just say their character is a titan, hunter, or warlock but instead say they themselves are one. changing that would remove any sense of identity or individuality the classes have besides their armor which could also be universal if everything else is.

D3 should've been at the time they transitioned to free to play and sunsetting. It was a season or two after this my friends and I dropped off for maybe two years and then a few came back right before season of the seraph, but are more casual with it. I cannot bring any new friends in because they know they missed out on not just some content, but literal worlds that disappear from gameplay. As adults with IRL responsibilities nobody wants a game that can't be set down for a year or two, come back, and find everything big gone not just events. Not sure if after whatever ending we get with D2, if I care about D3 or just want an online coop game with great gunplay.
I'll add that there are still a lot of people playing D1. If they made D3 at the time time I mentioned above, friends and new light could buy D2 for $20 and enjoy it (bungie would still make $), then move on to current game. These returning or new light players wouldn't feel they missed out and have why bother at this stage type feelings. But we all know it was Activisions fault /s.

This is partially why I left a few years back. The fomo. I missed out on the iron fellowship hunter cloak from years ago and they've never brought it back. I've never seen a nicer cloak than that imo and ill likely never get it now. Same situation with the calus shaders for years until they brought the raid back. Tbf the raid was out when I was playing, I just never raided back then and never expected that content to get removed. I think destiny is the first game I've ever played that has removed content on this scale. But I'm back again... sigh... ngl prism looks insane and when I started looking into it more, I'm noticing bungie are getting desperate which works out great for us, e.g weekly bright dust rewards are new (to me, anyway) and a much welcomed change. Skimmers, prism, multiple exotics in FS, it's looking good tbh! I'm cautiously hopeful.

I think what it means by no classes is no subclasses for each one. Kinda like prismatic, but instead of limiting it in any way, you would get full customization of skills and abilities
Idk man. I cannot imagine a hunter putting down a rift like my Warlock. There are just certain things that should be bound to class rather than them being shared by all three. Or if they remove the whole concept of classes like just a normal character without a bond or a hood then maybe it’ll sit right with me. However, that won’t exactly be Destiny because the whole point of Destiny was 3 classes that is the Hunter Titan and the Warlock.

Well if you remember the original live action trailers. Especially the one where they are fighting the cabal and the warlock says. "does anyone speak space turtle" and the hunter says "i can say hello in any language" then runs at the cabal enemy and then Blinks through it while dropping a grenade. That is a hunter blinking back in 2014.

I'm pretty sure we will still have the 3 classes. It's their sub classes that will mix. Think sunspots, with arc punches and devour grenades.
For d3 I like the idea of there being one class but it still has to have some separation so they don’t delete what some would call the backbone of destiny content and the franchise
I honestly hope they keep them seperate. Not because of replaying but because picking a class gives you gusrdian a different feel. It makes it more diverse. What make building chars fun is experimenting with each class and finding what you like about that class and what youd prefer to use
all I want is the destinations to be more open world and seamless. The current destinations are using the same level design from 2014 that was made to work with PS3/360 hardware... The engine also needs a huge upgrade to bring it up to the level of PS5/XSX.

Imagine d3 is open world mmorpg style like elder scrolls online or FF14 online. That would be the biggest game release i think.

I don't think they'll get rid of classes altogether, but with prism and the new exotic class items coming in tfs, they are probably looking into doing away with subclasses and allowing players to multiclass instead, hence why they've been referring to the subclass elements as 'damage types' instead of 'subclass'. I also think 'terror' or 'Schism' the 6th damage type is going to be released post campaign/raid when the final misson is unlocked after the raid is beaten. Either way, it is a wonderful time to be a destiny player and I'm hyped.

I think the best way they could implement a class-less system is by implementing a template for guardians based on sub class type for each of the supers (or the most popular ones for each class) and then just allow the player to slowly swap abilities in and out similar to prism but on a larger scale, which would make sense since we could perceieve prism to be a test run to see community reaction and balance it out fully by the end of final shape to then completely implement it in Destiny 3.
I don’t think they’d go away with classes cause we do and have always known guardians to be titan, hunter, and warlock. But it’s like the guy said, there’s nothing in lore restricting the different guardians to certain abilities. I feel they’d combine everything to one character like he said, but you still have the option such as in character creation to chose if your origin is titan, hunter, or warlock. I think it’s a great idea like kackis said, they can take more time creating non class related exotics, you won’t have to do the same content for 3 characters, and I also honestly think it’d open up a lot for doors for customizations and uniqueness to what you have. Destiny 2 did pretty garbage with armor customizations and what not, so I think making it to where they wouldn’t have to make different customizations for 3 different characters will open up a bigger door for destiny 3. Along with the code name pay back, I guess we’ll find out when tfs comes out if that is code name for us losing in d2.

There is nothing anyone can say to me that is gonna make me overlook what a crap change this is. Sure having to balance 3 classes isn’t easy, but the beef between the classes is part of what gave destiny so much character.
The classes all stood for something different and spoke to each of us differently, our main says something about us in such a charming way that would really be a shame to loose.
Could make the "classes" as "skill trees", speccing into them with skill points and exotics further enhances the abilities which determines what "class" of guardian you are without limiting you to a certain set of skills.
Didn't they mention forever ago that The Final Shape was just the ending of the "Light vs Dark" saga; and that another saga or something would follow?

I’ve been here since the beta and I really hope we get Destiny 3. They need dedicated servers and everything has to be new. Enemies, weapons and subclasses. No repetitive story mission. I love the game and I hope it doesn’t end.
I know this isn't what you mean, but I really hope story is still a big focus going forward. The story and lore and universe of destiny is such a fascinating part of it and i'd hate for that to be put on the backburner
@@richardsmall5265There's a difference between story and lore. Destiny's story ain't great. There are very few cutscenes and the "story" is pretty much just an information dump that's told in uninteresting and downright annoying ways sometimes, through standing in the Tower and interacting with a character there who will then just stand there and, like I said, dump a whole bunch of information on you.
Or when you're running and gunning, some character just starts yapping away at you. Where are the cool set pieces like the Forward Unto Dawn landing on the Ark in Halo 3? Or cool, cinematic cutscenes that actually tell a story like the Gravemind cutscene in Halo 2?
Bungie used to be one of the best in the scene when it comes to story and atmosphere. At this point, the entire company is just hard-carried by their awesome engine and smooth gameplay. Those are the only things that are still good
Me too, but this 1 to 2 year break that's suppose to happen after lightfall, better be Legit too. I wanna take for sure a year and maybe even 2 years off this. Play something else and then come back and pay quarter price to get caught up. It would be nice to experience that since i'm paying full price for everything since the beginning lol😅

One class with all abilities does sound cool. But im concerned about the drip. One of the main reasons ive been a titan main since d1 launch is the badass armor. So hopefully even if theres just one class. We can pick which class looks we want. Pretty much just making hunter, warlock and titan purely cosmetic

They really need to give us vault space upgrades either getting them from a quest of some kind or more than 600

We also need a better way in game to rate gear and weapons so we can better manage our storage

My ideal of destiny 3 would be closer to a mix between destiny and dnd. Imagine after the final shape, all the races are able to use the light and the dark. Destiny 3 being able to create a Cabal Titan with specific race abilities per light and dark subclass, on top of shared abilities. An Eliksni Hunter with its own race specific abilities, etc. Way out there dreaming, but I won’t get hopes up unless an actual announcement happens

If you mean as an exclusive that would be quite a stupid decision. But as a selling point for the PS6, perhaps putting it in bundles… yeah honestly, wouldn’t be a bad selling point for Destiny players on PS.
@@bluejay4812 Not really. At this point I believe most players are between PS and PC. So making it, on the console side, a PS Exclusive would make it one of if not THE Killer app for the launch of PS6.
Exactly. If Destiny 3 came out in 2027 and it also released on the PS5, we would be at where we are at right now with the PS4. The PS5 by that point would be 7 years old and it would be holding Destiny 3 back. But if they built Destiny 3 from the ground up for the next gen consoles and PC then they would have a lot more power to do a bunch of different things
PS is horrible! They pissed me off banning me for no reason. Not to mention my PS4 account been hacked so many times. I left Xbox to get a PS4 to play Destiny 2 when it first came out. Went back to Xbox and never looked back.

I personally don't mind starting over in Destiny 3, as long as it actually feels like a true sequel, with content/systems that isn't possible in D2.
Both D1 and D2 were compromised to some extent during development (reboots, Activision etc). So the fact that a Destiny 3 could be Bungie's chance to use all of the lessons they've learned during the past 10 years, and create the perfect version of Destiny sounds exciting to me.
But if it's just gonna be a Destiny 2 2, that lauches in a half-baked state and needs to be fixed by years of dlc, then hell no.

Theres the issue IF they learn. If Sony doesnt replace all management and leadership itll just be Destiny 2.5 instead. Look at the tale end of Age of Triumph in D1. Then the same year Destiny 2 launched and 99% of stuff was removed, over simplified and made unbelievably casual and incredibly bare bones. Diablo 4 is another example of a game tht undid all the improvements made in previous game.
@@michaelhuie2661 yeah true, but vanilla D2 was after only 3 years of lessons, now it's been 10 years. I'd like to believe that Bungie devs have a pretty good idea of what the community likes nowadays. I think that vanilla D2 really hammered home the lesson that you shouldn't ignore the diehard fans in favor of the casuals, so they probably won't repeat that mistake.
Also, Sony has a pretty high quality bar so hopefully they'll make sure bungie leadership doesn't do anything stupid. Something could definitely still go wrong, but I think a Destiny 3 has more potential than the future of Destiny 2 tbh
@@henkaan7741 No Final Shape is Sonys last straw with them. Theres been threats of restructuring all of bungies leadership n management if Final Shape under delivers. It was confirmed when Sony went to Bungie studios the ideas the devs had were awesome HOWEVER they were absolutely shocked to hear Bungie leadership has denied and or halted all those ideas. Some sources claim some bungie leaders are leaving after Final Shape due to Sony breathing down their necks. Goes to show the lack of true leadership within Bungie.
I disagree Destiny 2 didnt become good until Beyond Light. Forsaken is how the game shouldve launched bare minimum. Then they nerfed everything in Lightfall to slow things down to increase playtime. Only to just now start undoing some of the power gating Lightfall brought, only because of Sony now knowing how shit leadership is. Based on that if the CURRENT leaders stay and the quitting rumors are false, there will never be true improvement and innovation.

I was literally talking bout this the other day. They needa take everything we loved about Destiny 1 with better storyline, better graphics, just don’t make to much changes and stay away from the Destiny 2’s launch. They do that then they’ll definitely be able to bring back their Destiny OG community back. Hard trynna convince my friends how much better Destiny 2 got over the time after how horribly it started off.
Probably be called Destiny Beyond if Destiny 3 happens.

My guess is there’s gonna be “classes”, probably tied to the super you choose, which will affect things like resilience, recovery, and mobility, but you’ll be able to access them through one character. This would change how campaigns work, fixing the largest problem; having to unlock things 3 SEPARATE TIMES.

Im pretty sure what he meant by saying one class is that. You will be able to use all subclasses on a hunter at one time. Not that there's only one class of Guardian. There is three different classes of guardians hunter, titan, and warlock. Just that you won't have to be stuck playing only a single subclass at a time. Cause lore accurate guardians can use all elements at once they just need to train at using the elements to get better.
True. But there's also Guardians in the lore without any specific specialization / or can use the abilities that other classes are known for using.
So I feel like a "Destiny 3" or the future of Destiny would have some sort of way to just switch classes, without having to back out and change characters if you wanted to play as a different class. That way your other character slots can be there simply to alleviate the grind, rather be the definitive way to play a different class.
Edit: while also being able to use different subclass abilities. Like swapping out the little subclass selection in the top left corner of the loadout screen, just with the different classes. So you can just go from Warlock, to Hunter, to Titan, while in-game and using the same character.

My biggest issue with D2 is that I’ve had friends ask if the game is worth it. Ultimately, I tell them at this point, it is not because with the Red War through Forsaken being gone, any new player would have no idea what’s going on no matter how much you tell it, if they’re looking for a good story.
I think becoming unrestricted like that, being able to wield all the power of the light, would just be fulfilling the "prophecy" of "The Guardian". A true Lightbearer who is not limited by such things as "class" etc.

I actually try to persuade people not to play D2. It's like going to the bookstore to buy a book but they'll only sell you the last third, and there's no way to get the first two thirds to understand what's going on.
