Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through UA-cam videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!
Having a diverse perspective is crucial to what I want to achieve here so please don't hold back! I want to learn about all I can! Keep recommending and PLEAESE join my Discord :) ( / discord )

Awesome 👍👍👍👍👍 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
Have you had a fling with a Fin?
One of the best ever British comedies, his anxieties just keep rising
I love how Mrs. Fawlty reserves her energies for the ensuing disaster and nonchalantly and diplomatically sweeps in and patches things up. She had learned a lot in 15 years lol
Yes Sybil is the real manager here.
Manuel, there's too much butter on those trays.
No, no señor. It's uno, dos, tres! 🤣
It's the English way. People never complain because they don't want to draw attention to themselves and make a fuss and appear ungrateful for what they're given, even if what they're given is unsatisfactory in some way. They tend to complain instead to the other customers and/or later on, by not returning.
British people don’t complain as they don’t want to cause a scene so we put up with crap service. It took an American to give the guests the courage & confidence to complain to Basil as a group.
Imagine kicking up a fuss about apples and celery doused in mayonnaise
I've thought that too. If Basil decided he'd had enough & walked out, never to return.
The English never really used to complain but unfortunately now with the feminist's and gays etc, all you ever hear are those people complaining. Not to worry.
I've just noticed that the woman in green is on crutches, and seems to have a foot injury, but there was nothing in the episode about that. 🤔🤷♂
The British character default position, one may moan but if challenged one doesn't want to create a scene so we say everything is fine. Our way of complaining is just not returning to an establishment.
Brilliant
It's the British way to say everything is fine when the meal or service is dreadful. Most of us just don't go there again and perhaps give a bad review.
I've always hated this episode. Yes Basil is being an absolute moron, but I don't have any sympathy for the American man, who seems to be very obnoxious, as I do for the rest of the customers.
In many ways yes. But he does rightly call him out on his BS. It also serves to highlight the tendency for the British to never overtly complain.
I disagree, I think people are very harsh on the "American" (actor is Canadian). He loses his temper only when Basil's bullshit gets too much. Yes he's a little sharp cos he's soaked after driving for 5 hours straight but who isn't?
@@Lones555he literally screamed and mocked British things the moment he got in
