The groove in the Renthal grips is for wiring on so they don’t move! It also looks like it wasn’t bought as an open end grip and that is also why it moved. I glue and wire mine.
I agree to a point but sometimes the grips can be slightly longer than the throttle tube and over hang and rub on the bar end. When I ride I often place my hand over the end of the grip and if the rubber is too long it can slow down or restrict the rotation of the throttle, not a nice feel.
