I was just thinking of this move and had to look it up. Seems like a natural segue from a double leg takedown. A great non-lethal way to disable someone if you were in a self defense situation where tapping out means nothing and you just keep going. Can't imagine the pain of a dislocated hip mixed with an STF follow-up to screw up the back a bit. We called the STF "The screamer" in high school wrestling. You had to do it just right so it looks like you are going for the pin, but it is possible if you want to torture a cocky opponent.

@@user-nb8dm1gz2t It actually wasn't it was him in like 2009! This was when he was chief auditor for scientific wrestling!
Meaning he was the one of the main coaches for Jake Shannon 🙄 So he honestly had been practicing Catch according to him since the 90's!
So this is video link was when he was coaching!

@@rippersubmissionwrestling2704 oh I had no idea he was involved with scientific wrestling. I've also heard Jake Shannon sucks at rolling bjj style as well. It's hard to find real catch these days honestly. Not saying catch sucks because it literally spawned freestyle and folkstyle but there aren't many real catch people out there. And don't say Barnett because he learned from Billy and wrestled and had a judo background

Is the hip lock a catch move or JJ? Traditionally?

Definitely catch wrestling, but a lot of people are bringing wrestling into BJJ.
