That has to be the strangest looking movement I have ever seen on a Side Scrolling Game
It's like they tried to make a realistic move for the main character, or they were just lazy to animate all the sprites
I thought the same thing when I first saw this game a while back.
For me, the movement is reminiscent of Super Castlevania IV
Seems like they made each limb an individual sprite to make it look more fluid
I remember hearing about this game as a kid, the character is made of several sprites that can all rotate.
It was supposed to make the character movements look natural.
keyword : supposed
It worked better for Blade, Gurkha and Hammer from SotN as lifeless suits of armour.
Hastur's music is incredible. Weirdly wrong for the situation, but so pleasant.
He's a cosmic horror, there has to be drama, you know?
oh maaaan, multi-sprite animation wasn't quite there yet huh. i can hardly tell what some of these bosses are supposed to be...
that said, the music rocks! feels very inspired by Battle Tendency too, which seems appropriate given it's release date.
Love wolfteam cause they were kinda the dreamworks of video games as in they never worried about anything and always just experimented and did whatever the hell they wanted , which led to some bangers like el viento and sol-deace, some games that are janky and hilarious but also rly endearing like this or Granada, and some searing dogshit like Annette futatabi or Jinmu denshou. You never knew wtf you were gonna get into with their games and I love em for that
Granada wasn't janky.
@@Desmaad less janky moreso unconventional
I wish more modern game devs were willing to try weird experimental stuff over the boring tosh we get these days.
@@Superscope64Huge budgets have reduced the appetite for risk. Also, I think the pool of ideas is a bit dry these days.
@@Superscope64 indie games :D:D
Loving the vintage elements of it all!
Wolfteam’s answer to Indiana Jones. Complete with Earnest outrunning a giant boulder at the end!
Follow that Boulder, Earnest Evans!
@@ShadeKirby500 Yup.
I remember seeing retsupurae go over this 12 years ago.
The animation and story are really...... something.
4:09 El Viento team up :)
I know they tried a nee animation method and it had worked in some cases (like int the wall monster boss) bur for the main character... The result was weird :(
Yup. Annet is his student, and she goes on to star in El Viento and Annet Again, continuing their fight against Hastur.
É uma trilogia muito interessante que, cada um dos três criativos jogos, deveriam ter recebido uma nova versão com melhorias, correções e atualizações, tipo o que ocorreu com Street Fighter 2, de 1.991 até o Super Turbo de 1.994 !!!
"OK, so the Indiana Jones game we made had its licensing rights pulled from us at the last minute, so how about we swap out Harrison Ford with a marionette puppet like from that old 60s show Thunderbirds?"
😂😂😂😂😂😂
ボス戦BGMが中々聞き応えありますね♪
That last boss has one of the most powerful attacks of the 90s. Seizure inducing flashes.
'Just keep flailing: the Game!'
That's an interesting interpretation of what Hastur looks like. I guess it was based off the Yellow Sign?
What a weird game. That kind of movement i saw when playing happy wheels.
The game was very strange, some things felt like they were still left over from the Beta version or were done in a hurry. However, all the music was truly incredibly beautiful.
awesome soundtrack
So, exactly where is the hit detection on this guy? I could swear I saw the monk's fireballs completely engulf his head.
They should make a spiritual successor where you do in fact, play as possessed marionettes
Or a Flash Game-esque Ragdoll game.
Not to be confused with Earnest P. Worrel.
I Can't Believe It's Not Castlevania!
The hit detection in this game seems screwy. Like, the Two-Legged Monster stomps you several times and you never take damage.
And hey there's Lord Moreau in one of his early roles! Always fun to see a big star before they were famous!
If they tweaked the control this could've been a hundred timds better
bro moves like Vectorman 💀
🔦🧸
Shadowserg, please play Lollipop Chainsaw all bosses no damage!!!
WTF? QWOP had bosses!?!?!
To think that Siegfried was in on this the entire time, pretending to be a good guy in this game.
HotTake but tbh I'd probably play this game over Super Castlevania 4. Better music and better action and enemies overall.
Didn't think that the likes of this game can be no damaged...
I do not recommend doing this again... really..
A possibly good game ruined by it’s controls
A possibly good game ruined by its baffling choices in general.
Wtf
Esa pereza para animar sprites se ve a lo lejos
