And thank you to everyone who participated in our poll last week! This video was set to be nearly 50 minutes long, so thanks to your input, we ultimately decided to split it up into 3 parts. Please us know if you end up liking this format better or if we should switch back to our full-length, comprehensive guides! :)
I like the short version more, because I can see you more frequently.

Hahaha, I think we all have this now! Thank you!!

Formosa Boulevard Station has been named the second most beautiful MRT station in the world, known as the "Heart of MRT".
It includes the largest glass piece of artwork in the world, which covers the roof and pillars in the central part of the station, it is currently the largest circular station in the world.
Dome of Light is divided into four areas: water, earth, light, and fire,
which represent different meanings such as gestation, growth, innovation, destruction and rebirth, and are used to represent human stories.
Kaohsiung is a beautiful city, and your video makes it even more beautiful, very looking forward to parts 2 & 3. Thank you very much for sharing, super great job again! 👍🥰👏
Thank you very much!!
We did not know about it being named as such! And did not know that information bout it, so thank you for sharing!
Thanks again for watching!! :D
@@IfWeGoTo You are most welcome, thanks to you too!
Take care! Happy travels! 👍🥰🙏
Every Taiwanese would appreciate your hard work to Make the country extra beautiful! Great job in editing. Among all the Taiwan videos, you’ve done the best job❤
Aww thank you very much!! ❤️ 🥹
Welcome to Kaohsiung ! This city is way more chill than Taipei.. you can feel the slow pace of life like in most southern cities all around the world.
We loved both cities, but definitely could feel the very relaxed vibe in Kaohsiung too!
Welcome to Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Enjoy your visit and the people.
Thank you so much!! We loved our time there - and everyone was so friendly!! 😃
Brandi's dance makes my heart beat, Allen's hairstyle is very clean and handsome😘
Hahah thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it!! 😂
It was definitely a nice little change for him!!
Alan: nice haircut!
Thank you!!! 😃 Can you believe it only cost 100NTD?!
Finally set off to southern Taiwan. Please enjoy this, the diverse features of this ocean city, Kaohsiung!!
Thank you very much!!
I love green wave cafe! You could drink latte around [true] plants! It is a great place!
Agreed!! It's a great little cafe!! :D
Thanks for sharing. ..
Welcome to Kaosiung! We live in Canada but my wife is from Kaosiung. Not sure if someone already said this in the comments, but the dome of light at Formosa Boulevard Station is a memorial for a 1979 human rights protest that brought about democracy in Taiwan.
Thank you!! And thank you for sharing this! It’s always interesting to learn a bit more after we post so we appreciate you taking the time. :)
The little grass you played with was mimosa, "含羞草" which means "shy grass". It used to be everywhere in the parks :D
That is the CUTEST name for it! hahaha
@@IfWeGoTo 6:41😆🥰
Legit the editing level amazes us every video.
Aww thank you guys!! ❤️
How have you been!?
Again, another great video!! I was checking this morning to see if you guys posted. You two are awesome!!
You're the best! Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!! :D
You two are so adorable! This was the first video to pop up related to Taiwan and travel. Super pretty area you're in as well!!
Welcome to my hometown Kaohsiung!
Thank you so much!! We had so much fun there!!
Gosh! It is amazing as to all the surprises in Taiwan...the next stop seems to have more unexpected gifts to be discovered than the last stop. Thank you so much for sharing. Await more gifts coming......
Thank you so much!
Welcome to Kaohsiung, Taiwan and have a nice trip.
Thank you very much!!
thank you for taking me (us) with you I love art walks and haven't been on one since collage (makes me sound old right? I still have to go back to collage) but still I love these kinds of videos :3 Keep doing what your doing!
You are so welcome! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!! 😃
Hahah don’t worry, we feel old nowadays too… university is starting to feel like a long time ago! 😂
@@IfWeGoTo ikr? I usually go in the spring time cause public transportation in the winter is no fun where i live...but i keep forgetting to sign up for classes ;_; real life tends to get in the way of like degrees and what you actually need in life.... also Alan got a hair cut!
Aww where are you living now??
We’ve been wanting to take additional classes (more for enrichment) but any university class in America is insanely expensive now. 😢
Yes!! He went a little shorter than he had intended, but he liked how light it made him feel! It’s good to change it up from time to time 😂
We went to Lu bo Cafe this morning and enjoyed. Great reco ❤
So happy to hear you enjoyed it!! :D
Finally, welcome to beautiful city Kaohsiung!
Thanks you!! We had so much fun visiting!!
I first seen your videos about Taiwan couple months ago, and I’m glad that you’re still there in my hometown. I started to visit Pier-2 since the very beginning of the project when they only had a small area which now is more extended. It is quite interesting to see my hometown from your camera while I’m currently in Australia. Hope you enjoy more time in Taiwan cheers!
Thank you for watching! We really really enjoyed Taiwan! Pier 2 was very cool, interesting to learn it has grown over the years!
Do you live in Australia now?? We love it there too! :D
Thank you for showing us this beautiful n fun city in Taiwan ❤😊hope you guys have a good time over there
Thank you so much for watching!! We had a great time in Taiwan!
I'm from LA, but recently living in Taiwan. Been watching your videos lately and have been glad to see your series documenting at the district level.
Oh no way!! Alan is originally from SD, so not too far! What made you move to Taiwan??
And so happy to hear you’ve enjoyed them! That is awesome!
We definitely wish we could have done a full video for all the districts in Kaohsiung too! It was such a fun city!! :D
@@IfWeGoTo We came here mainly for some business we had between US and Asia. My parents also recently retired in Taichung from LA. Taiwan served as a good connecting hub for us for the short term and an excellent place to be with family, a decent place for our toddler to get education, better healthcare, and insane affordability - 3x cheaper than the states. We will return to the states in the near future. Also gave me chance to make some videos.
ohh I see. I think Taiwan is fantastic, and definitely seems like a good place for living compared to the USA. It is really hard to live here because of costs - which is a large part of why we travel!
Hope you can return and make videos soon!
@@IfWeGoTo Hard to live in the states? If so, yes, living in the states is costly off the charts. Mainly rent and food are absurd on a monthly basis alongside rising real estate prices, inflation, almost criminal-like health insurance costs, etc. BTW did you visit Taichung?
@@kayjaylin yes, exactly. The prices here are crushing! 😩 We’d leave if we could. No doubt!
Unfortunately we didn’t make it to Taichung this time! Do you think we should when we make it back to Taiwan??
hotel dua is great,.. amazing rooftop buffet
While in town, don't forget the Taiwanese version of Disney Concert Hall in LA, Wei Wu Yin, the national Kaohsiung Center for the arts, if you love music.
Whattt!! We did not know about this!! 😱 we will have to look for it next time we visit!!
@@IfWeGoTo don't forget Sin-khut-kang commercial area. It's like Ximending in Taipei. Fo Guang Shan is a Buddhism place to visit if you like religion.
Ohh thank you for sharing!!
My favourite city. There is soo much more that what we saw here.
It’s so fun!! There is a ton more to see for sure! We tried to hit all of the highlights over 3 videos!
Though I’m sure we missed something!
Welcome to my city and hometown where I also live now.
Oh that is amazing! You are very lucky to call it home! :D
@@IfWeGoTo absolutely yes.
You are a great couple❤Welcome to TW and thanks for your guide~
Thank you so much for the warm welcome!! ❤️ 🇹🇼
Alan, it looks like your new hair style is modern military style who stationed in overseas military base, and on a vacation. Very cool and very nice!
Thank you!!
Whoever cut your hair did a great job! The price paid would probably be the tip amount if you were getting the cut in US 😢
He did!! And yes, I think it was only 100NTD.. that is even less than just the tip here nowadays.
Welcome to Taiwan🇹🇼😘❤
Thank you so much!!! 🤗
So good 👍👍👍
Thank you !!
🙏🙏👍👍
Thank you!
Welcome to Kaohsiung !
Thank you!!
Alan got a nice haircut! Awesome!
Thank you!!
Beautiful city. Can't wait to be back there.
Agreed! Excited for you to go back to experience it again! :D
A fun tidbit for you: the 85 Sky Tower is actually shaped to look like the 高 character in 高雄 (Kaohsiung)
Had no idea!! That’s cool. Thanks for sharing!!
Wow yummy yummy, beautiful city
Agreed!
the plant call 含羞草 in chinese
it means "shy grass"
That is the cutest name ever for it!!
The plant that "closes" when you touch it is called "mimosa pudica" or commonly known as "touch-me-not" in Malaysia.
It must grow in a lot of places!! We did not know it grew in Asia!
Haha I too like to poke at that plant and make it close up. Last time I saw them was in Kenting.
Hahaha we’re so glad to know other people appreciate it too!! 😆 We did not realize that plant also grows in Asia! It’s quite common where we’re from!!

Thank you!! We loved our time in Taiwan!
Alan has a new hair style! Looks not bad! ^^
Thank you!! It was definitely a bit shorter than intended, but it was nice to switch it up!!
This plant(含羞草 in Chinese) is popular to see in Taiwan.
It is so cute!!
I suggest you go to Cijin Lighthouse, a beautiful place.
Ohhh yes! We just posted that video a few minutes ago!! hahaha. It is very beautiful! I agree!
❤❤
Thank you!!
First of all, the cafe is called 綠波,yes it literally means green wave, but the more precise translation is water ripple, waves created by gentle breeze.
I was born in Yancheng, welcome to my hometown. Yancheng is neither new nor up and coming, over a half century ago it WAS the downtown of Kaohsiung, you can still find the old City Hall building by the Love River today, now converted into a museum. After decades of declines, Yancheng starts to gradually revitalize after recent urban renewal. I grew up during the “dark ages”, I still remember Love River being highly polluted and stink like sewage, I guess that kind of explains why I don’t hate stinky tofu at all😂.
It’s probably too late now, but did you know that there are free daily Dome of Light music/laser light shows in the Formosa Blvd Station?
Oh awesome! Thank you very much for the tips and extra information!
Unfortunately we did not know about the shows at the Dome of Light! Man! Maybe next time!!
In the dome of ligh, there are shows which light up with animation
Next time we will need to see it!!
Alan looks much cooler with that buzzcut 👏 😁 🤟
Thank you!!
Brandi you dance cutly, you could be one of Charlie's Angels!
Would love to see Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Brandi in the dancing scenes!!!💃😍
Ohhh that would be fun!! hhaha
@@IfWeGoTo love the dance of angels 🥰, go go Brandi 😎
Taiwan has a large vegetarian population,Many vegetarian restaurants, there are various restaurants,台灣素食者很多所以素食餐廳很多,各式各樣的餐廳都有,你們可以試試(我用google翻譯希望沒打錯😅)
Taiwan is a vegetarian paradise😊
I’m not so sure about staying in LiuHe part. Sure there’s a night market but that’s it. I find it better along the Love River or near the Little Dome. Hope Kaohsiung wasn’t too hot and humid for you fellas.
Oh yes, there are probably better areas! Especially for longer term stays! We found Liuhe to be good for our short visit as it was so central though!!
It was perfect weather when we visited! It was a few months back now though! I’ve heard it gets hit this time of year!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!! 😃
😀
Thank you!

It is a super cool city!! Sounds like you had a good time there!
WW2 Kaohsiung was bombed by the Allied forces b52. That port used to be the forward base for a large number of Japanese soldiers of Taiwanese descent to join the Pacific War. Those brick warehouses were once part of the military facilities.
Agreed!! Thank you very much!
Did you find the accommodation price in Kaohsiung City is cheaper than that in Taipei?
Hi there! I think it was generally more affordable for that, but the weekend was a bit pricier! (Although we did get a really good discount for our long stay in Taipei
高雄 is a Japanese name originally. Takao
Oh thank you for sharing!!

Have you two visited my hometown, Tainan? It's the oldest city in Taiwan!
Hi!! Yes, that is the next video we have coming!! :D
Tip: the name of the city is pronounced "gow" (like cow) "syohng" (long "o" sound like Ohtani). 😉

Hi!! We actually caught trains while in Kaohsiung!
Uber is a good option if the trains don’t run to your accommodations though!

Very overly positive people! But nice to see some parts of Taiwan
Hahaha we usually hear the opposite! We definitely stepped up our overt positivity when we started our full-time youtube journey... anything less than positive we got a LOT of pushback from. We get it, but have avoided any comments that could even remotely be perceived as negative!
Pronunciation of Kaohsiung...please research
We’ve mispronounced a looooot of words. It happens as visitors and for anyone who speaks a different language!
