Great song. Was on the top 40 charts of Brazilian radios back in 1985. I was 13, and still remember dancing the song in the parties. Guys starting to flirt with the girls. Thanks for posting.
Let's answer the question that comes up over and over again. Why not LESS THAN ZERO?? Because in 1985 the script for the 1987's movie under the same name was already under a TM contract. The soundtrack contained previously recorded title song by Danzig (already released on Def-Jam/Columbia.) Rybczynski (who directed videos for John Lennon and Mick Jagger among others...) knew exactly what he was doing.
@1979starscream I was teenager when Lady Pank edited this song. In polish the first part, in fact, talks about a boy killed by the communist police because he was drunk in the street after a party following a well passed high school exam, about the contempt for individual. The second part of the song is here for the censorship, to thin the real meaning of the text. This second part talks about people judging the value of the artists without understanding them. Sorry for my english :-)
POLISH ORIGINAL TEXT TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH FIRST PART: You are thinking that you are meaning more than you are, because you have intellect, two hands and wish your place on the word interpreting high school exam passed to A some people are, is not joke, who things that you are zero. less than zero x 4
POLISH ORIGINAL TEXT TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH SECOND PART: Professional cheaters for fortune, specialists for singing and mobs, when you are not want, they are find the way and put you on them scales more that once thought that is in spite of physics pointer is backing less than zero X 4
You are not right. The pupils of the comunist authorities? But this song in Polish version was wrote in a protest against communism! Btw. Here, in ,,Minus zero" the original topic of the song has been changed. I prefer ,,Less than zero" with Mogiel's text :)
Great song from my youth. Too bad that the English version has little to do with the original lyrics in Polish. Also, it would make more sense to translate “mniej niż zero” as “less than zero” instead of “minus zero”.
On this day in 1985 {April 20th} Lady Pank performed "Minus Zero" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand'... The video of the song received a fair amount of air time on 'MTV' in 1986... Could not find any Billboard chart info on the internet concerning the song... R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}...
Lady Pank's lyrics in Polish are absolutely genial. Real world-class. Unfortunately it is impossible to translate it accurately to any other language.

Next time call me guys.... the chorus should be sung "less than Zero" or less than nil, but that wouldn't fit with the rtyhm8c sequence.....

Różowy czołg, jamnik i stół mięsa - kto by pomyślał, że to wystarczy, by być pierwszym polskim teledyskiem w MTV USA. ;-)
