Theres a interesting sustainable heated wave pool coming to auckland nz, its pretty new and only just got consented I believe but the whole concept behind it is pretty interesting.
I'm surprised that you didn't mention Typhoon Lagoon in Florida I'm pretty sure that's what got Kelley's brain on the journey of wave pools many years ago Thanks for sharing as always my friend Be well and Safe travels 👍
I surfed two sessions at Palm Springs Surf Club in April 2024 before their machine went down. Advanced A-frames ($150 for an hour) was similar to your description of the Bristol advanced wave where there was a fat section and a mushy shoulder. However, we watched the intermediate A-frames and it looked much more rippable and clean. 5 Slabs of Fury ($200 for an hour) was awesome and worth every penny. Only funky thing was there were 5 waves per set and 6 people in the session so one person would not get a wave each set. We were lucky, these sessions can have up to 12 people booked. It was fun but more expensive then most of the waves you mentioned and I do not see the prices going down when they reopen.
awesome video! heres a few more that are open to public: skudin, rotterdam, boa vista (for hotel guests), surfland brazil. I maintain surfparkdb--always happy to be a resource for latest info!
Sydney pool seemed a shorter ride than Melb..but still great.. Yeppoon...Rumours say its fraught with problems but I sure would like to see it operating.. Cheers Dan
Globe’s "Electric Blue Heaven" film was recorded in 2012 at Al Ain Adventure in the desert near Abu Dhabi. Dubai wild wadi near Burj Al Arab hotel is another one even if still in UAE, but only with only static waves...
Was back in the UK from NZ on a trip recently and scored a few sessions at The Wave in Bristol. Was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Water temp was 24degs. Only drawback is its super pricey for your average human being.
Your footage from Praia da Grama is actually from Surfland - Garopaba. This one works as a "park" where you can go and just buy 50 min long sessions on the desired wave. Praia da Grama uses the same wave generation system. The waves are pretty similar but da Grama's is longer and has a setting/bathymetry that makes taller waves. It's located inside a residential area in the state of Sao Paulo, so you need someone (homeowner/business partnership) to be able to book sessions.
You missed WavePark Korea. It opened last year and has become one of the most preferable surfing destinations for Taiwan people. I enjoyed getting there last week as it’s no-wave season in Taiwan now.
We have been to the Waco Wave Pool a few times. It is really, really fun! As someone else said, we live East Coast, New York, and when we are frothing for waves, Texas is a very easy trip for us. We usually pick the intermediate wave. However, next time my husband may try the Advanced.. The staff is really nice, as are the surfers. We have not seen any kind of aggressive behavior. Surf Lakes looks amazing and we are waiting for the day they open to the public. I would consider Dubai. You make a great point, as a halfway point to an Indo surf trip.
Nice video mate! There are 3 other wave pools in planning/under construction currently in Germany: surfwrld, surf-krefeld and surfpark Stade. Most of them will be using the wavegarden tech.
I live in Texas and have surfed Waco a few times. Takes a minute to learn how to catch them, a lot different than catching ocean waves. Also used to be a wave park in Austin that closed a few years ago called NSR. It was a plow technology.
Thanks for the info. Officially called Waco Surf now. That place made me feel at home when I worked in Texas. It was my home wave. Great place to wire a bottom turn and tube riding.
You missed Skudin surf in American dream in east Rutherford nj. I think it’s in the $300 range per session…so pretty expensive. But everyone put here in NY and NJ go there. I never have. Can’t stomach spending that much money on 1 hour session but it’s open to the public and easy to book.
I paid roughly 100 swiss franc + 25 for 1h advanced session and surfboard in august at the alaia bay. I was worth it as a lifetime experience. I do though expect cheaper wave pools
Let me know your experiences surfing these pools!!
Check out 02
Surftown MUC in Munich Germany, just opened!
Abu Dhabi look great hope they open soon in October
Waiting for the Palms Spring wave pool to finally open again 🤙🏼

We need a wave pool on the east coast. It's over 3 foot here about 5 days a year, if we're lucky.
East coast of Japan?

Sick! Thanks for the info David!!
Rif10 in Rotterdam is missing too. Short wave but fun.
Only one in city center in a Dutch canal. And it’s open!

Aventuur is currently building a surf park in Perth, Western Australia. Due to open in 2027.
100% can get barrelled in Bristol, you should go back and try. It's fun 🤙
Great to meet you at Bristol love the episodes 😊

@@DanHarmon123 mabey i,ll see ya there man..)
Great video and information
Thanks mate :)
Another one opening soon. "Lost Shore Surf Resort" near Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. Opening autumn 2024. Suposed to be Europe's largest.
The occy one is infinitely scaleable From what I’ve read. One of the only ones that could make full size waves
Nice
Thanks!!
There is one in rotterdam aswel starts with 45 euro for beginners just opend
If I were a billionaire the only expensive thing that I would buy is my own wave pool.
Imagine how sick that would be haha!
Another wavegarden pool is under construction in Tel Aviv its helf way done i belive
Sick!! We need them everywhere haha!!
Wave pools are on my anti bucket list.
Haha fair enough ;)
ME TOO!
I'm a natural man doing things in nature... not a corporate fiction, doing fictious things in a pool.
lol I kind of hear that.
@@BigPoppieSeed its good for people who actually work, have families etc.. as they have consistency on choosing there day to surf. they can plan
Complaining about wave pools is like complaining about power tools. It's weird.
