The scene with Nino casually polishing his medal is by far my favorite bike commercial ever. Well done SRAM!
I like that bash guard option. Looks super neat and great for bikes with a chain guide already built into frame.
I'm not sure this would work since the new bash guard is mounted on the chainring itself. It's designed to act both as a chainguide and bash guard when you pedal and you can mount one on the other side of the chainring as well.
@@leifostrum9597it's made for descends, whe your cranks are in same position. You just put this bash guard on the chainring depending on which foot is in the front so that the bash guard will be on the bottom
@@dannovikov2977 Yes but I'm saying it won't work with a top mounted chain guide because they will hit each other.
@@leifostrum9597 I don't think so, but I've never seen bash guards like this
This is innovative and a game changer. Being able to shift under load alone is a worthy reason to upgrade. It’s also just looks very clean
wanna see if it does what they promise first because that's been promised before
My XT derailleur on a slx cassette shifts quite nice on my ebike even under load
No, it's a gear changer, haven't you paid attention?
It's going to be interesting for sure, nearly every time I snapped a chain was from shifting under load.
Modern bike drivetrains have shifted under load for years.
Looks awesome... But my favorite part of bicycles on our digital world, is how analog they are. I wish this had a cable shift option. I understand why it doesn't, though.
It will. They always start new tech on the high end. Santa Cruz hinted on their Instagram it'll trickle down this summer.
I agree with you though... One of the things I love most about MTB is that I could escape the digital world and get off the grid for a few hours. No emails, text messages, smartphones, charges or Bluetooth, or in this case AXS. Plus I ride mostly DH so I value other components more than my drivetrain. I'd rather allocate my resources toward rims, suspension and trips to the bike park!
Couldn't agree more. I don't have a problem with electric shifting, but there is nothing wrong with cables. I don't like that sram/shimano are discontinuing mid to high end mechanical drivetrains. To me the difference is more of a substitute than an advancement, they both have their pros and cons. Its not like going from rim to disc brakes or cabled to hydraulic.
It doesn’t because you will own nothing and be happy.
@@aygwmgood try, I guess 😅
@@topspot4834This system can never have a cable actuating option. The cassette has ”changing lanes” and only the electronic derailleur knows when it can shift. This makes shifting slower but you can hammer it down while shifting.
brilliant...
1. introduce a new, more standardized derailleur hanger to finally eliminate the mess they were before
2. get as many manufacturers to play along as possible
3. now you've got thousands of frames prepared for your new drivetrain all around the world.
A derailleur attaching directly to the frame would have been completely impossible before with what feels like every single frame having a different derailleur hanger and frame design around it. Now the market is becoming ready for such a radical change to derailleurs.
supercaliber looking epic
Under rated coment hahaha
Haha
Ohh I get it, best comment ever
specialized new full suspension system showed on sram video. Nice prodution!
its a copy of treks supercaliber
I hope SRAM read there comments, please, please make a gx cable version, I really want to keep using cable shifting. This looks amazing and had so many benefits. But I don't want battery's on my bike.
I think there is cable version of gx that exists
@@josevictorvillabayaban5175 he means a version of this with the updated hanger-less derailleur and durability that's cable actuated
It will, and it wouldn't take comments for them to realize it. They have plenty of marketing data at their disposal. New tech almost always starts on the high end, and if it's as good as advertised, it'll trickle down.
Santa Cruz said on Instagram it'll be this summer, so it's in the works.
You won’t be able to shift under load as it takes firmware to do that.
Love the rear derailleur. You made it super serviceable and love the wheels not blocking. Good job again❤❤❤
I bought the GX AXS for my MTB a year ago, hit a log and bent the derailleur cage. SRAM doesn't make the replacement parts I need for that 400$ derailleur. They just sold the inner cage and I needed the outer one too. I felt outraged and vowed never to buy SRAM stuff again. Glad it looks like the next gen makes this part replaceable so I don't lose all faith in them. Also glad they made the shifter more adjustable which is ridiculously not ergonomic on mine.
Halfway into the video I can't help myself but DAMN THIS LOOKS NICE!!! Can't wait!
Like the new Supercaliber design looks amazing 🤩
You mean Epic WC? 😄
Now you can bend your frame instead of a derailleur hanger! So innovative!
Maybe-if you drive over the bike with a bus!
@@awesomexistence ik he's so worried over nothing 😂. Mountain biking isn't hard on the bike at all😂
👍🤣
Yes, but the derailleur is now more expensive than your frame, so it makes sense right? The frame is now the disposable item instead of the hanger. SRAM know the way forward (for maximum profitability)
@@a1whiterue, I'd rather replace the frame than an aluminum hanger. Sram truly is innovating the mtb space.
I could see this also being the future of road riding. Shifting under load, no more bent hangers. So many pros.
Man, this is dope! If all things as good as you advertised, this is gonna be my next transmission on new build )
I'm generally pretty hard to win over on new solutions to old things that weren't much of a problem, but that was a really effective advertisement.
I read an article on this a few months ago, and wasn't sold.. but I'm certainly going to do my homework on it now.
Have XX1 AXS and love it. Just ordered a XX SL groupo, should be here early April. Can wait to ride my new Scott Spark RC!
I love how SRAM try’s different things! Cool to see innovation in real time and thank you for universal hangers!!
SRAM is like the Apple of biking industry.
And not in a good way
@@aygwmit is the best
Thank you for setting the standard for innovation and well designed intel!
Very excited for this!
These Videos are so well done. Nice work creating a straightforward video with charisma and high production quality.
FINALLY!!!
Oh my Gosh!
Looking forward to go inside the details, check the specs, weight, etc.
Excellent!!!!
That S works is EPIC!!!
This is so ahead of our time!
great job!!!!
About time. This was way long overdue
who ever your marketing department is needs a raise, I can't even ride a bike, and this video was fascinating, and the product, well I didn't know mountain bikes were designed so well they make mars rovers look bad.
A game changer for high end mountain bikes. We need this in Utah...
Do Sram engineers understand the purpose of a derailleur hanger? A - it protects the Derailleur, B - it protects the frame from getting damaged. With it mounted to the axle the force is now getting applied directly to the frame and to the Derailleur. Surely an integrated derailleur hanger into the design would of been the best approach to still make it easy to set up and to create a more universal hanger with also reducing the need for replacing parts on the Derailleur (having this option is also a good idea still though).
Typically, if you bend the hanger on a modern bike, the derailleur has been bent as well. The idea of the hanger is sound, but the reality is that it rarely saves the derailleur. The frame, now that's another story, and it will be interesting to see how that unfolds.
Glad to see this - the old GX is not working like it should anymore. Just wish my bike had UDI
Loved the way this video is produced! Good job. 👌🏽
Greatest bike gear video ever!
New Epic looks amazing🤩
looks like Trek Supercaliber
quality control nightmare. if your dropouts aren't perfectly aligned you can't just alright your hanger to the dropout.
Cool tech, fun video.
That guy is AWESOME !
That's cool and all but in case of an event, I'm pretty sure that the swappable derailleur parts will cost more than proprietary or UHD hangers. What if the part that attaches to the frame or the frame itself take damage because of forces applied to it? In good old days you probably just had a bent or snapped hanger to replace...
If your buying a $1,600 "transmission" I don't think you're gonna care about the cost of replacement parts. And if you do, don't buy AXS.
To your point though, the bigger concern is the durability of the frame. I assume SRAM already did it, but I need to see long term testing on the actual frame, cause I don't understand how carbon wouldn't absorb a lot of the impact.
@@topspot4834 Frame will indeed absorb the impact, the hanger is a buffer between frame and delarieur. If i want durability, ignoring the weight( because less materials usually means less durability, just noting) Il stick with Shimano linkglide. Still a good job from SRAM.
@@topspot4834 I think that's a weak argument. Even if you spend 5k or more on a bike that's equipped with Eagle, you don't want to buy a new rear mech for $600 every season. Anyway, we will see how this works out ... if the groupset takes impacts without damage where you would typically bend the hanger and it only breaks in cases you'd smash the frame or derailleur on a conventional setup too, then it's probably not that much of a problem in real life.
I was talking to a Sram rep and we asked him the same question and he basically said that it wont bend or break ever because of how strong they are
@@darint9686 Delarieur may no break, you'r frame will
Loved the way they casually showed the new epic in the end
The Magic Wheel!😍
Smooth explained video
amazing group SRAM!! small note on what many commenters have pointed out. that is not just the unreleased Epic, but I believe it is the Epic **Evo**! Look at the hollow EVO silhouette behind the EPIC logo on the chainstay @ 4:04 (this is similar to the 2023 evo models). Also, no brain decal on the SID unlike the spy shots of the '24 epic, and that also appears to be a 120mm SID. This means new Evo alongside new Epic, and more impressively, that they've likely squeezed 110mm rear travel out of the in-line "supercal" style rear shock. Supercal only 60mm
There is no way they can ever ever squeeze 120 in there, most likely it’s 80mm so a step backwards and a redesigned Supercaliber.
@@maticrobic498 maybe not 120 but has be more than 80 with a dropper with that much travel ; )
Time will tell!!
@@hcole623 i’ve heard from a dealer it’s 80, but probably not more than 100 and what looks like a 32mm fork. So it’s an outdated design to begin with, with competitors going for 120 front and back with a 35mm fork.
Specialized is wack
incredible design
Cool!
👌👌
@Sram, Happy New Year! Please release a road version as well.
This was a great explainer. Stay classy SRAM 🙌🏻
The amount of frame warranties in the next month is gonna be crazy. “I was just testing how strong the derailleur was and I broke my chain stay”
Great job here SRAM. Load shifting is a Biggie and a game changer.
Is that a new Specialized Epic I see?...
It looks like it. It seems to run integrated internal routing too, a first for the Epic and Specialized MTB.
A Sram é sensacional. Grupo absurdamente lindo.
Asking honestly, isn’t part of having a derailleur hanger to provide an emergency stress point? Meaning it’ll bend before your frame will? Thus saving your frame? Would this forgo that insurance and if something happens the frame has a greater chance of bending?
I think the UDH, which the transmission mount is based on, essentially mounts to your thru-axle (like it's still retained in the frame but gets more of its strength from the axle being screwed into it) so you'd have to crash hard enough to bend your thru-axle to actually sustain frame damage and at that point I'd imagine you'd just be happy to survive whatever hellish incident your bike just went through.
even older axs rd have like a "safety clip"
when you hit somwthing it unclips and move inside and then just shifts back to normal position like 1sekond later
I can't imagine the frame bending at the thru axle. The frame would have to bend and deform the axle with it. That would take an insane amount of force.
I'm no engineer, but I'm not worried about the frame getting damaged having the axle/hub take the hit. If your frame does get damaged, as in broken stays, it probably would have gotten damaged anyways with a normal hanger.
I'm more worried about the derailleur itself not withstanding the hit and having to replace that part more often than you should. We will have to see if it is actually more cost effective than just replacing a flimsy hanger. I doubt replacing the derailleur "chassis" is cheaper than a little hanger, so it HAS to last.
Time will tell...
Nearly impossible, look how strong the connection is by comparison.
that Trek Super Caliber sure looks sharp!
Great video and an incredible product! Well done
Casually revealing the new SWorks Epic.
its a perfect copy of the trek supercaliber
ТОП!ШЕДЕВР!СПАСИБО!
I have this on my 24 trek rail 9.9 blows me away the XO doesnt get the magic wheel, really guys??
And the AXS pod button fell off while simply moving my bike bumped it with my elbow and GONE. bike has 4 miles on it
I don’t care about bikes and it’s transmission, but the videos is great :)
Please, do try melting my brain going deeper in the engineering details! 😏🤓
Can't wait for SRAM to make all replacement parts unavailable until 2025 like they did with my G2R brake lever blades 😃
This tech is a gear changer!
Please, go really deep into the cassete map feature.
Well done
That guy always make my laugh!😄
Leaking the new specialized at minute 4:06 and 5:08 ahhhh :D
Derailleur hanger alignment is crucial otherwise this rear derailleur won't work properly . High load shifting slows down the motor .
When the motor does slow down , it uses more power shortening the battery life . The motors in these have been known to burn out .
dawg! I want this.
Doesn’t the frame get damaged upon impact, not having a derailleur hanger?
propabbly will, but now the shifter price is 2x bigger than the frame it self, so its worth it i guess.. lol
充满了自信!!
This looks awesome, and I bet it works super well.
But all these wireless shifting units, Shimano or whoever's, mean the customer HAS to keep spending money because batteries don't last forever.
Well maintained cables do, though.
new epic!!!
I have never been as interested in sram derailleurs before!
the whole thing is like 1900euros retail in germany thats honestly nuts and enough money to get a nice bike
Bro the way she smiled when the seat came up had ne cracking😂
Can we add Ti Accessories please? LOVE IT!
😍😍😍
I thought the point of having a hanger was that it breaks instead of damaging your frame... So if this indestructible rear mech has an impact, it'll crack the frame?..
So... where does all that force go, when you stand on the derailleur? The Derailleur stays solid...no hanger to bend... hmmm....
Great video and innovative product... too bad I'm an anti battery luddite.
Yeah go Pete. Not enough Pete on the internet. More Pete more Pete.
This looks amazing 😍
But one suggestion: do a button set with three buttons, so you can up/downshift and access the seatpost in one.
Or even better, make long press a different function, so you can access the seatpost that way
👍👍👍
People in the 1930s : we'll have flying cars by 2023.
2023 : Well, at least you have SRAM Eagle transmission.
I honestly hate hangers that have failed on me and my wife’s and my son’s bikes more than 3 times. Each time it destroys the drivetrain and fun on the train! Why did we have hangers to start with? Glad we are seeing some real innovations from SRAM! And if I have this I no longer need to teach other not to shift under super heavy loads!
Интересная технология с креплением непосредственно на ось, а так же унификация компонетнов как у шимано с её cues
The didn't even mention the best thing of the groupset... The new frame.
A true step forward in MTB transmission
In terms of backwards compatability, could you slap on the transmission rear mech to your existing AXS drivetrain and call it a day ? That would be a difference between 500$ setback and a 2000$ setback.
This looks awesome, can't wait for this sort of technology to become more affordable
It won't. The whole point of this is to get rich idiots to pay more money for a worse system.
kinda like Saint and Zee - mounted to the axle...have fun fixing rear flats trailside
Sad very sad, excellent innovation, beautiful transmissions, but it continues to be sad for me, because I don't have money to buy something like this, I would like to fulfill this dream, but I have very little hope, Greetings from Costa Rica
You've failed to convince me. Shifting under load is the only real upgrade but Shimano has had that for a while. I'm not ready to give up my derailleur hanger.
"German people they think of everything "got me💀
Wow
OK. YOU SOLD ME THAT SPECIALIZED
Well done, Peter.
Lol that advert was Fucking amazing I dont even ride anymore and i want It haha

well, this video worked for me. You got yourselves a new customer
pls do a cable version. analog bike is a digital world are sth magical!
almost bought the xx rear derailleur until i saw how humongous it is. I will be sticking with my slim xtr rd for a while.
I was looking forward to this until I saw the wireless shifter pods. We wanted smaller, not larger. Also, 1x system can get by with only 2 buttons, one on each side of the handlebar. Reverb AXS could engage with a dual button press.
Pair with drop bar shifters?
You can use the old axs shifter.
You can create this setup you are describing by using our wireless blips.
