- The Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) are the last stop on my Antarctic journey. The sweeping shorelines are nesting grounds for black-browed albatrosses and imperial shags.
I am so excited to see the islands but feel bittersweet knowing I’ll soon be saying goodbye to our polar expedition ship “the Vavilov”, its crew, and all the new friends I’ve met onboard.
I don’t know if words can explain the joy I felt being at the bottom of the Earth. Going to Antarctica was a trip of a lifetime for me and a dream for many years.
