It’s so much fun when this is played at a ball game. Everyone singing along. It just makes you happy.
I believe this song was inspired by Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of late President John F. Kennedy. This version is great, but to really hear it, watch a Boston Red Sox baseball game from Fenway Park and listen to the whole crowd sing this song during the "Seventh Inning Stretch". It is BIG FUN. Neil Diamond has had a long and storied career, with many hit songs.
No he said in an interview that he was looking for a name that fit in and Caroline was it.
Boston Red Sox fans singing it maybe good but 80,000 singing at Wembley Stadium London during a Euro football game is better
@@Westcountrynordic Yeah, the capacity at Fenway is about 37,000 or so. And the British, especially the Welsh, do have superior voices. Part of my family heritage is Welsh.
I forgot the Caroline Kennedy connection.
I love hearing it at the ball game.
A very prolific songwriter with a string of hits for himself and others. My personal favorite is Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show but you can't go wrong with any of his songs.
Hi David! I’m glad that someone else loves that song! It’s my FAVOURITE Neil Diamond song! Peace and Blessings from Australia.
@@wendyryder2708 one of my favorite Neil Diamond songs. I especially like the version where he explains the background to the song, and I'm not sure what the setting was.
If You Know What I Mean is my favorite Neil Diamond song. He's gorgeous with such an amazing voice.
This was a very early performance…you should hear this at concerts, sporting events, bars, train stations…anywhere people gather. Everyone knows his music….he is a legend!🔥❤️💎
Boston Red Sox fans adopted this for Fenway Park celebration! Much older now he still guest stars! Great reaction!
Neil Diamond is a poet. A troubadour of first rank; aesthetically pleasing, meaningful, substantive. Un bon trouvere. Thanks Jayy.
After you hear this song a few times every time you hear the name Caroline you will automatically think "sweet Caroline bumm bumm bumm" lol 😂
You probably didn't know that Neil Diamond was known as "The Jewish Elvis" back in his day. He's an alumnus of the high school I went to in Brooklyn, New York, Abraham Lincoln High School. He graduated from Lincoln High School around the same time as broadcaster Marv Albert and a year or two after Neil Sedaka and The Tokens.
Sigh...gorgeous Neil. My favorite singer/songwriter. Got to see him 4 times. He always put on a great show and has a fantastic rapport with his fans...lotsa love there. A couple of years ago Neil's site organized a virtual fan singalong of Sweet Caroline. Fans submitted videos of themselves singing this song and a bunch of them were selected to make the final video compilation. I was lucky enough to be included. :)
The song has been played at Fenway Park, home of Major League Baseball's Boston Red Sox, since at least 1997,[32] and in the middle of the eighth inning at every game since 2002 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweet_Caroline
I was at Fenway just after the Marathon Bombing when he came out to sing. Everyone was crying and filled with Joy at the same time. Chilling cathartic moment.
Neil Diamond is a huge talent and I quite agree that he’s quite easy on the eyes. Love this song and love your channel. I hope to see more of your Linda Ronstadt reactions. I suggest “Down So Low”. It’s a very soulful song and, as you already know, she has the best voice to reach in and touch your heart. I recommend doing a live version because she’s so wonderful on stage. Keep up the great work honey. 🌺✌️
Can’t not smile when hearing this song. And singing along no matter where you are.
You need to be in a crowd when this is played! So fun!
In later years he sang this to the Queen of England as her favorite.
Woo hoo!! I had (still have) the biggest crush on Neil Diamond when I was young! Have you done "I am, I said" yet? I love that song! And "America" and my very favorite one of his "Holly, Holy", please do him when he was younger when you do "Holly, Holy"! I just love seeing him back then, it brings back memories. 🤗
So I'm not the only one who saw this clip and found Neil handsome 🤣
Love your reaction and your reaction just demonstrates why this song is known by everybody across the world.
A great one s The Story of My Life,by Neil Diamond. Words that every woman wants to hear.
Have been to every Chicago concert. Three hours of pure Heaven. He loves his audience and they love him right back. No opening acts..no intermission! Retired a few years ago due to diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. Heading to Boston next week to see Beautiful Noise…a play about his lufe. Never gets old!🔥❤️💎
"SONG SUNG BLUE" or " Cracklin Rosie" are great songs too.
Love Neil Diamond. My dad heard his song "Desiree" on the radio in 1972 that's how I got my name. Please do, " I am, I said". Great reaction!
Neil started writing songs when he was 16. Then someone told him he should be singing his own music. Has been singing to me for over 50 years. Have been to many of his concerts…the last his 59th Anniversary concert which was cut short by his diagnosis to Parkinson’s. Has done movies and even has a biographical play on Broadway…Beautiful Noise! Ahhhhhhmazing!🔥❤️💎
yes, he is handsome...such a unique talent! Instantly reconizable voice and songs
If you haven't listened to much Neil Diamond, you're in for a treat. Now I know some people will point you to his post-1972 material. But he sort of became more of an adult contemporary singer after that. Starting with "Song Sung Blue," he drifted into more of an adult (lame) mode. His '60s stuff was amazing, though. Check out songs like: "Cherry Cherry" (be sure to do the studio version, not the live one), "Girl You'll Be A Woman Soon" (which was covered by another band for the movie "Pulp Fiction"), "Thank the Lord for the Night Time," "Shiloh," "Solitary Man," "Kentucky Woman," "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show," and "I Am...I Said." Neil Diamond was known for writing incredibly self-aware music, very introspective songs. But he also wrote some huge hits that were made hits by other artists. None better than "I'm A Believer," which was made famous by The Monkees. If you insist on listening to his post-1972 material, I would direct you to "Longfellow Serenade," "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" (which he performed live with Barbra Streisand at the Grammy Awards and it brought the house down), "Heartlight," and the favorite among patriotic crowds, "America." I have a personal favorite, but it was never released as a single. On one of his albums (circa 1971), he did a song that was inspired by an African trip he made. Check out "Soolaimon," but be sure to listen to the studio version, not a live performance.
Neil Diamond is one of the best and most lasting gifts that came out of American music in the 1960s.
You are funny with your resentment and jealousy of “Caroline!” 😂 Thank you for a good video on a great old song.
Neil Diamond's been making great music for over 50 years now!..."Sweet Caroline" "I'm a Believer" "Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show" "I Am, I Said" "Holly Holy" "Song Sung Blue" "Red Red Wine" "America" "Heartlight" "September Morn" "Solitary Man" (more)
Love love this song. As a matter of fact I named my daughter Caroline because I loved the song so much ❤️🔥
I’ve always thought Neil Diamond had gorgeous eyes! And his voice is smooth as velvet!
Neil Diamond unites all qualities: a terrific songwriter with a very distinctive voice, a dynamic performer who broke attendance records wherever he performed, a handsome guy with the most beautiful eyes, songs full of exciting hooks, deep, emotional lyrics... One of the best singer-songwriters ever. Please react to I Am... I Said, Holly Holy, Brooklyn Roads Solitary Man... He has a huge catalogue to choose from.
Favorite Neil Diamond "I Am" way existential
Neil turning your sweet heart into a love puddle. Awesome!
The Studio version is a bit longer, but beside that, Jayy, you ALWAYS make my heart melt 🌹!!! As I once told you, I fiddlestickin' LOVE you !!! It was a Great reaction and an even better reactor 👍😊
UPDATE: Yeah, I went back just now and watched your reaction to his (live) version of his first hit, Solitary Man, and I just need to tell you that, the reason his live versions are longer is because he talks before them but, as good as those live versions are, he suffers from the same disease as a LOT of other musicians ... overandoveritis, or "the tendencey to sing the lines late/after they are supposed to be sung because he's done them 100,000 times". It's a horrible disease. Please ... if you do anything, at least for Neil Diamond, don't listen to live versions if you are looking to hear the very best version ... go with the studio versions.
Holy Holly is my fav from Neil. Love your reactions.
The one song sang in mass by millions of sports fans all over the world.
Neil is one of my fav singers he had so many hits in the 70s love his voice
He's a Brooklyn boy. ..... Flatbush. Outstanding talent. He also wrote red red wine ub40s did it. And so much more..... good shit.
Neil Diamond is the greatest. I wish you would react to these songs of his, Cherry Cherry, You Got To Me, and Solitary Man. Thanks
👋 from Caroline in the UK xx
Another great song is ‘CAROLINE’ by Status Quo. A completely different sound.
Definitely worth listening to this band. They had hit after hit in the UK. Their sound is very distinct and catchy.
Neil Diamond has had a long, successful music career. He started out in the mid-1960s, writing some songs for The Monkees. Around 1967, he started recording his own Rock songs. "Sweet Caroline" was a big crossover hit for Diamond, as it had strong appeal to Pop music listeners in 1969. Neil Diamond really grew into a great singer and songwriter in the 1970s and 1980s, and was a major box office draw, having many sold-out concert shows. In 2009, after a surprisingly well-received musical performance by Neil Diamond at that year's Grammy Awards Show, CBS began negotiations for a TV special. Diamond agreed to air a partial segment of his upcoming concert DVD, "Hot August Nights/NYC". According to Wikipedia, The CBS TV special had 13 million viewers that night. Neil Diamond retired from touring at the end of 2019, after he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. He still writes songs and records albums. Neil Diamond is an inductee in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and the Songwriters Hall Of Fame. Neil Diamond is 81 years old.
A great song by him is You Don’t Bring Me Flowers Anymore, usually sings it in a duet, With Barbara Streisand
One of his underrated gems is "You Got to Me"
Neil Diamond is a great singer songwriter
A great concert sing -a- long for him sung by millions.
For your own pleasure, if you get a chance, check out his performance of this at the Glastonbury Festival in '08. He's a bit older (late 60s) and his voice is a little rough, but it's a fun audience-participation version; much like what is heard at sporting events when this song comes on. Another nice reaction. All the best.
Jayy, you would be blown away with his catalog!
Brother Loves Traveling Salvation Show
You Don’t Bring Me Flowers - ft Barbara Streisand
Play this in any crowd environment and you will have everyone singing, and it's compulsory to do it like this, "Sweeet Caroline, Ba Ba Ba" , you absolutely have to sing the instrumental bit, I'm pretty sure it's the law in most countries.
And “so good. So good. So good”
Love your' reactions girlfriend! He really does have a ton of amazing songs. Have you listened to I Am I Said? Kinda haunting and sad but beautiful.
Great song, amazing artist! Loved the reaction lol you’re the best Jayy!!!
Sweet Caroline Is one of my favorites of any song.
They cut the song a bit short LOVE Neil Diamond, you should keep going with him "Love on the Rocks", "Hello" are two of my favorites, but he has SO MANY great songs.
Although I’m Carolyn not Caroline - my co-workers always sing this song to me!!!! Its so funny and it really makes me feel good!!! I’ve always loved this song so much! Its just such a happy tune!!!! Played in a ball park, a bar, or just in my car - its a major jam!!!!! 😃💃. Thanks for the review!!! God bless!!!
Watch his movie "The Jazz Singer" so many good songs in that movie. Also one of my favorite songs of his is "Play Me ".
I love early Neil Diamond. Solitary Man, I'm a Believer, Cherry Cherry and Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show.
Very ally Neil. Would live for you react to a more current version of Sweet Caroline. Everyone sings along knowing every word and the bah..bah..bah…which has become part of the song!🔥❤️💎
Very early Neil
Check out his big hit "Cracklin' Rosie" from 1970. It came out a year after this one went to #4.
Jayy, you got to catch "Love On The Rocks" next!
I always melt at the exact same part you do 🤣
Keep grinding love💪🏾
You should check out his "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" that he recorded with Barbara Streisand and then performed live at the Grammys. Great performance.
Love Neil diamond
You need to react to Neil's Brother Love's Traveling Salvation show (live). He gives tribute to the tent meetings around the country.
♥️ Such an amazing artist, so extremely handsome and such a sexy voice. Loved him since the 70s...
Classic beauty!
Great performer
Great song and reaction. ✌
When the England football team is playing during major competitions, like the World Cup, English fans like to sing this song as an anthem, and its constant.
Do his “Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show”. If you do a whole album do his “Live at the Greek Theater.
Beautiful song 😉😘
This was such a shortened version of this song, l suppose there were time constraints on the Ed Sullivan show. It doesn't do the song justice compared to the studio version, but it's nice seeing him sing.
Classic!
This song was meant for Caroline Kennedy she was 8 when he wrote that song about her.. think about that.
One of my dad favorite
Good song good reaction
Neil actually wrote Sweet Caroline. I know you loved Elvis’ copy of it!
I think it's a law in most states that, if you are out and about and hear someone say Sweet Caroline, you have to respond Bum bum bum.
You should react to his movie “The Jazz Singer” on your movie channel
Song Sung Blue, Cracklin’ Rosie, Forever in Blue Jeans…
You knew you were good if Ed motioned his hands to bring you over after the song to stand alongside him - he didn't do that with many to my recollection.
This is a very early recording. You should watch a more updated concert version to get the full effect! Bah..bah..bah…so good..so good..so good!
TRUE AMERICANA.....!!!!!
Awesome
Makes you want to woman tackle him, doesn't it? Admit it, the thought was there. No leaping, no crazy, just good music and his incredibly strong voice. And he only sounds better in old age.
Back in the 1970's, Neil was nicknamed "The Jewish Elvis"!
Check out "Longfellow Serenade" by Neil Diamond. I GUARANTEE you'll love it.
Love U ❤
The version of "Elvis Presley" is great!! 👍
*Hello Jayy...I really hope you consider reacting to Neil Diamond's songs; Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show__&__America. I searched and don't see you've heard that one yet.*
Hey Jayy! I think you would also like 'Cracklin' Rosie' by him. :D
Who WASN'T singing along!😀
Hey lets see what you think of Elvis's version of Sweet Caroline
My nieces name is Caroline
