If you're going to go denim, you gotta go all denim. Denim hoodie. Denim underwear. Denim socks, perhaps. Stay denim, beloved.
And if you are a TradCon wife, must be a denim dress cut no higher than the top of the ankle.
That would require him to have socks on period 😂
We don't wear socks round here
It's indigo remember lol
Came here to say this but you got it first
Next video: "This is why the U.S. Forest Service professional homeowners stopped wearing shoes."
to help with grounding he’s very into what the earth naturally provides us if you haven’t noticed
Because they copped of their feet with a mall
I’ve been splitting for years with 6 and 8 lb mauls (5’2” female here). I put my friends’ pre-teen kids to work splitting whenever they come to visit. I just set a bunch of cut firewood on end all over the lawn, split them all to impress them, then set more up and hand THEM the maul. It keeps them busy, no whining about being bored, and when they are done they have an achievement to proudly show their parents. I believe in showing kids they can accomplish something with a little hard work and not be dependent on others.
But we’re you barefoot doing this??
I have Forest Service approved wooden toes to replace the ones I lose while handling axes barefoot.
So do i
Amazon has some deals on women's and children's wooden toes. They make wonderful birthday presents.
Please, at least break all the rules by wearing a pink pair of go-aheads with the plastic pink flower. Over the big toe
how the US forest service advertises its equipment in all denim
All hes missing is denim slippers😂
If you're a "woman or a child"😂
My man saying it like it is
Three axes is simply not enough axes.
Remember folks, this should be considered the minimum. I think I need a boy’s axe for my SUV. A friend’s daughter was saved by a passing motorist when her house was on fire. “A motivated man with an axe can accomplish a lot”
While not exactly an axe I have a Stanley FUBAR in my truck. It's come in handy multiple times and would definitely be useful in an emergency.
@@chrisjones6002 I have often thought that a demolition tool such as that would be quite valuable.
@@fatboyrowing check out the stanley fubar 3. been in the truck for years its been handy quite a few times
@@zachorfe354 too funny… I was on Amazon and the Stanly Tools home page looking at them as I was notified of your reply! A little more money than I want to spend, but it looks like quite the extrication / breeching tool !
Love how he’s always handling sharp heavy objects, using knives, and welding all while barefoot ❤
Nothing wrong with holding tools barefoot. Using them barefoot is an issueq
A follow up video with demo of all them and there uses would be great
Would love to see some brands you recommend for each!
The last one is a ”Gränsfors Skogsyxa” or ” Gränsfors Forest axe” in English. 99% sure as I have one myself.
He's got long form videos on his recommendations. Cold Steel was one of the cheaper options if I remember correctly.
He loves Sandvik axes…. ask him.
Cody we need another axe video. Maybe showcasing off your collection of axes and what you find best in what situation . Thanks
Covered ears and exposed toes, that’s how the forest service rolls
Next video: how to identify quality steel.
I don't always toss axes around when I'm barefoot, but when I do, it's a US Forest Service axe.
This is how the US forest service keeps them toes nice and comfy
I like to keep a wedge and a sledge also for the extra large logs.
Something about your hooded outfit, apron and axes reminds me a medieval separation of body and soul. I love your very useful videos.
More like separation of toe and foot
I bought one I absolutely love its very sturdy and good at what it’s meant for i can’t get enough of it
Which one?
@@1Patient trail boss
@@1PatientI think i commented this on the wrong video sorry 😂
May I recommend good denim splitting socks with copper grounding thread woven in. Stay Grounded Beloved.
I'm waiting to see him wearing insulated coveralls with gaiters and chaps with absolutely nothing on his feet 😂🤣 he's hilarious!
You are really teaching Americans very important lessons, it would be wise to take heed… thanks from an old wild land firefighter.
I love my wood-handled axes, but for a maul I've found the fiskers iso core pro to be pretty sweet. I hand split 6-8 cords a year of Northeastern hardwoods. I've had it for a few years now with no noticeable damage.
That's what I switched too a few years ago. I did ok splitting oak with a wood handled maul, but something like maple or hickory has a mind of it's own and splits everywhich way. I was tired of replacing handles. So far the iso core handle and maul have been great, just gotta wear gloves, lol.
Tell me you love denim without telling me you love denim
A professional homeowner should be wearing boots while handling sharp axes but what do I know I chop wood in sandals 😂
That maul is beautiful. On the light side, but what a piece 😍
It’s technically not a “Maul” it’s a Splitting axe, Mauls have a sledge pounder (to drive wedges for splitting) on one side and a convex or pointed bit on the other. This specifically is the Helko Werk Vario 2000 Large universal Axe. It’s a beast of an axe - can use for felling, bucking, chopping and splitting - although most will use it to split, I believe the head is 6-7lbs and the handle is 36”.
I have the universal axe (same design, head is 4.5lbs and 30” handle) I absolutely use it to split!!! How the head is secured you cannot use it to pound anything, or hammer it from the back either.
I have my trusty little hatchet, but don't yet have a storage solution for a full sized axe or a maul, although I think I'll have one very soon. I still need to get proper leather sheaths for them, too, before I put a good edge on them.
Sheaths or bit covers are only really necessary if you're going to be taking them somewhere.
If you're just using them around your property it's not that necessary.
Some of my boys axes and hatchets / belt axes have them but none of my full sized axes do.
@@TylerSnyder305 That's the thing, I do plan on taking them places (and having them ridiculously sharp). In fact, I actually have no use for an axe in and around the home because we unfortunately don't have a wood stove or fireplace, but I do go out in the woods fairly regularly.
And don't forget: they are also good for self-defense!
@@deebo5474 so are trip mines
As an amateur homestead director who's regularly fueling four fireboxes from fuel processed on site, all of the axes have been relegated to dust collection.
If one has a desire to practice traditional woodsmanship, okay, otherwise there are so many more practical alternatives for doing what used to be axe duty.
Ahh yes my friend. But have you not heard of the fast approaching dystopian future. Where will you get gas or electricity for these other tools in the apocalypse?
Can u teach us how to take down a chinese recon balloon like a professional homeowner?
I like that there was no judgement on women needing a lighter ax. We are smaller, not as strong, but still capable when we need to be!
😂 you obviously haven’t watched much of this weirdos content.
@@DavidJohnson-hg1mz why is he a weirdo?
@@DavidJohnson-hg1mz what makes him a weirdo? Living in the real world, understanding women are significantly weaker

"I have the toes that I have. Leave it at that." - Ron Swanson
No one really needs ten toes. Some of 'em are just extra.
For the professional home owner maybe. For most regular home owners I would recommend a 2.5# boys axe over the full size felling axe.
@@qgirlcharlie9582 Nonsense. Im a professional homeowner
I look up to you man. Thank you for providing such great information.
I was honestly waiting for him to add a line on the hatchet saying it was good for killing feds.
I have a marble smokehouse "small boys axe" and I don't have a reason to doubt it. It's lasted and looks prettier after every use. Hand made and hand forged in America, I actually picked it up because of one of your videos👍
I bought a CRKT bearded axe (hatchet) before they doubled the price during the pandemic. Best bushcraft axe I've ever had even after 3 years of use.
I love the memes this guy gives, but he also gives good advice.
I NEED MORE
Guy,put some boots on!
How someone goes from US Forest Service employee to main character in the Amityville Horror 👀😅
I'm a little disappointed that the forestry service didn't suggest this lol
Let’s see more of that felling axe
Wraglestar slippin on the safety. Haha
All of this information will come in handy when the internet stops working...
Make that four axes, every proho needs one of those new viking sword wood splitting axes. Those are useful and intimidating
I’ve got the Husqvarna lineup of wood handled axes and have loved them.
Can you speak on the differences in durability of wood in detail?
The triple axes
Man you give great advice not everyone had grandparents or parents Like you and I had for instance and I don’t know a lot of things like this. Keep up the good work
Handling axes with bare feet, brilliant
Every once in a while, I forget this guy is a Doomer and is prepared for the apocalypse. It catches me off guard sometimes
Just curious, where can you find good traditional hickory axes?
I like council tools. Made in lake wacamaw,nc. Everything from firemans axes, forestry fire fighting tools, hammers, and even wedges.
Sounds good denim Dan 😂😂😂
If you're not a professional homeowner, but if your homeowning is more of a hobby, I'd recommend shoes while handling your 12 pound axe.
I have found that a 6 pound maul with the proper contour head splits awesomely!
"In my next video, you at home can help me find my toes."
wonder when the professional home owner boot edition will be
Back in the day my dad used to make me swing a 14lb monster maul, that thing gave me some good workouts
Denim overload lol, i love it.
For a maul I always used a 20 pound monster maul that had I steel pipe for a handle I've split several ton of firewood with it bent the handle once but someone ended up stealing it
Info, time, and management. How the us forest service saves time while spitting factual info
May God bless you and your family.
That was our arsenal when I lived/logged in Montana and the Sierra Nevadas. There all kinds of axes and mauls but a lot are either task specific or gimmicks, as you say. These three are the base (weight and slight style variances are a given) tools for anyone who either lives/works in "the woods" or goes through a lot of firewood. Or spends a lot of time camping, etc. in the deep woods. A medium length axe is great for limbing and cutting "slash" if power tools aren't used.
Great apron. Haven't seen one since my cabinet shop days.
Isn't it safer to wear shoes while handling axes?
The denim warlock told me to buy three axes
"This is why the U.S. Forest Service invests in Hickory Futures."
That's a nice looking maul! Is that commercially made or is it a custom job? Really enjoy your channel.
That first one he's holding is not a maul. Because the back of the head can't be used as a hammer. That "maul" would fall apart
You can go anywhere with 3 axis… pitch, roll, and yaw. With these you can go anywhere, but where my post fails is that it is indeed full of gimmicks.😂
Get 3 New Zealand Tuatahi axes. They are the best
Here's a tip for amateurs trying to get into camping amd cutting wood for fires.
You don't need a crazy heavy axe. A hatchet can do all the small jobs.
Unless your type of camping involves felling a tree.
Would you do a video showing their proper use? Also, would you explain the reason hickory wood is preferred for handles over oak, maple, cherry or, black walnut? Thank you. Love the channel.
I love your videos sir and have been watching for a long time... They are much appreciated thank you
Try some traditional wood clogs
I usually go with a 1.5 pounder when I send my children to fell trees 👍🏻
Did any of them return yet? 😂
@@PartTimeGoblinSlayer meh, most of them 😂
Really? There are no comments about the women and child thing? Well done UA-cam, the algorithm works, keep this channel crystal-gen free
Does anyone know that hatchet company he was recommending about 5-6 months ago? I can’t remember it.
Dude, you're great. I can't keep up. I can reciprocate. A little sunlight on your skin mixes well with other bodily functions.
Shoesless axe dude! Don’t drop it! Thanks for your content!
Free of gimmicks. Love it.
The maul is a helko... bought mine on Amazon for around $190
Hickory? "It's either Ash or it's trash"
-
ash is great but theres a reason why almost every classic axe is made with american hickory
I bought a child's axe for my hatchet. I haven't cut the handle down yet, keeping it awhile to see if I prefer a longer handle.
If it is cold there put Sox on
For those who can't afford high dollar axes, the fiskars line has done me solid for about 5 years now. For their price point, I haven't found a better brand (not an expert, just use what I can find at stores) they have all three of these axe types in a couple sizes/weights as well. I think they are drop forged though and definitely need to be sharpened before use.
US Forest Service denim socks must be in the wash
plenty of snarky comments about the whole "no shoes" thing. personally, I'd love to hear an explanation from Cody about his perspective and why he prefers going barefoot in the shop. one thing I've learned is that this man rarely does anything without a specific reason behind it.
@@TheEvanRoach oh no... the grounding thing...
GB SFA is the only one I have in my KIT as of now . Definitely need to pick up GB AFA
I'm not even an amateur homeowner ☹️
I have 100+ year old WW1 German axe 2,3 lbs weight. It's such a good steel once I sharpen it stays razor sharp for a very long time. Not good for spliting wood, more for building purposes or chopping down trees.
What would be a good replacement for hickory
Hardwood. No cedar no pine
@@timer4164 so maple is good
@@hunterdonbach9684 there's hard maple and soft maple, so if you're not sure stick to hickory. It's the hardest wood. Black locust and some oaks can be hard too
And use the right style for the right job. It'll save your back knees and elbows!.
I wouldn’t use a felling axe for splitting.
I like my splitting ax with flared sides! It’s all I need
@wranglestar what's your opinion on Fiskars axes
He's always expressed dislike for them.
Let his dog chew up the handle of one, tested the maul which he hated, and I believe his sister injured herself with the maul too which made his opinion even worse.
if there's one thing ive always wanted as a kid, its a well made axe/hatchet
I Have Fiskars Axe x27 the big one for Some heavy spliting then i Have Fiskars x17 Middle sized Axe fór spliting small logs from thick branches And then i Have Fiskars X11 for spliting Verry small sticks fot starting a fire
I’m gonna mail you some denim socks brother. 😁✌🏻
