I " got fat" also. I was more of a rebounder when playing ball if this makes sense? Not to limber, when it comes reaching around. Stiff and ridged. I feel comfortable with a j frame and n pocket carry.
Kirk makes a very strong, valid point about appendix carry and typical body language. Yes, appendix carry may not be the most practical carry position, but like several have mentioned going to the bathroom for instance, if you gotta whip the hose out its the only position you have to work around the firearm, why something along the lines of the 43X may make that a little easier to manipulate. As far as printing goes it is the least noticeable when wearing looser clothing, tighter clothing and just about anything you carry in any position will print. Chadd made a statement one time on a podcast, "if you are not within arms reach of a firearm at all times, you are not exercising your 2A right!" Thank you Chadd for your content and most of all your service to our country!

Something I do when in a vehicle rather than removing the holster I lift my shirt up and slide the seat belt behind the pistol against my waist. Not only does it increase access but if you were to get in a wreck the seat belt won't dig the pistol into you. Works well for me! Thanks for the video 👍
@JerryNogueras-l8f unless that way is in a fanny pack, hahaha. I mean, if you get attacked by someone, your gun might as well be at home because you are not getting that thing out of a fanny pack before you get 5 or 6 holes in you.
I’m 6’2”, so I’m tall. Not the tallest, but tall enough that shirts and tshirts ride up. A good belt, a comfortable holster AND a tshirt that’s well fitted and LONGER…not bigger, but LONGER…than normal makes all the difference. (That’s what she said.)
Of all the ways to conceal-carry, the best, easiest, most comfortable way is in the knee pocket of cargo pants. Wrangler makes Riggs Workwear double-front, heavy material, "Ranger Pants" with very solid knee pockets. Even while working all day carrying things, mowing, raking leaves, crawling under cars to work on them, firearm in knee pocket is unaffected. Never digs into your body. Always easy to reach, even sitting in a car, or sitting anywhere, laying down sleeping.
Isn't it funny how carrying has changed over the years! Ha Ha! Carry what ever is most comfortable for yourself. What about your friend & trigger not gaurded. I do appreciate all your videos and truck talks.
I carry a Gen. 3 Glock 17 around 2:45 PM to 3:00 PM in a Kydex Bravo Concealment IWB with a 15 degree cant. It’s an amazingly light pistol and Glocks just work. They aren’t perfect feel wise and trigger wise but they just work. I have been shooting the Glock 22/17 frame since 1993. I am proficient with it --- it’s muscle memory. Aside from that and with the current invasion underway in America, the odds of facing multipe attackers increases every day. Having 18 rounds of 147 Grain JHP at the outset in a platform I am inherently accurate with is a good thing.
I just want to take the time to thank Chad and 3 of 7 project for motivating me to get in shape. I was fat and slow and very uncomfortable. I recently lost 70 lbs. and doing so allows me to carry appendix. Btw it is the only way to carry. I was carrying in the 3 o’clock position prior to the weight loss. Again thanks Chad for the brutally honest thoughts and opinions. It has motivated me to make myself a better person.
I’ve been using a fanny pack carried as a sling for a couple years now in certain situations - urban environments, in hot weather when wearing summer clothing. It works very well, and completely blends in in those situations. It also allows me to carry a larger pistol. I’ve never had anyone question it, in very gun unfriendly environments.
For me, appendix carrying my Glock 48 in a TXC X1 Pro is what I’ve found to work great. The two angles built in to the Helix clip are what sets it apart from any other holster I’ve tried. The TXC engineers must be geniuses.
If you get the right holster you can wear it while in a car and still get to it while seated. I recently took the leap into appendix as well, and I agree with a lot of what you guys touched on. Interesting stuff.
8:00 another thing to consider with the seatbelt is what happens in an accident. If you are in a serious accident, how much more damage will that pistol do when it is forced into the abdomen by the seatbelt? BTW, I usually appendix carry but remove while in the vehicle.
In my mind one of the issues is needing to go into a public restroom and take a leak, or even worse, take a dump. If you are carrying appendix you have to work around your holster while standing at a urinal. If you have a holster with a side caddy for a spare mag I guess you have to lift the entire thing up in order to clear your junk. If you don’t have the side caddy you can push it off to the side. If you have to take a dump you have to figure out how to set the whole thing aside where people won’t see it and hope you don’t drop it on the floor and don’t forget the whole thing and leave it like a capital police officer.
Appendix carry advantage: If you've not been situationally aware and you find yourself in a fast draw gunfight. Disadvantages: Still can't out draw a drawn gun on you. Can't draw with one hand if second hand is injured or second hand is otherwise compromised. Can't serendipitously draw with one hand like 3 o'clock and has been used in so many self defense robberies.
My favorite is an appendix carry home made thin leather. One I use with the .45 and 9 is the Versacarry made in Texas. It's a plastic/metal belt clip with a plastic pin which is inserted into the barrel and about as minimalist as it gets. If it gets sticky I put thin silicone lube on it. I'm less worried about no trigger guard with the ACP due to the grip and thumb safeties. That clip Kirk uses looks awesome, will try to find one.
I love to use the comfort concealment belt with my gym shorts so I can keep my weapon on me and not have to keep it in an off body bag. It’s super comfortable and holds your firearm in place even when running and you don’t have to worry about your running shorts sagging with the weight of the firearm.
I started with it in the back center. Then I was in line at a dicey gas station. And I felt awkward that the person behind me had better and quicker access to my piece than I did. So I switched to Appendix, and the barrel at the boy's or femoral artery wasn't cool either. So I settled on appendix cross draw. And that's it for me. Because first thing you gotta do is clear your shirt and sitting worse case is grazing the outer thigh. And yes it won't fire without the trigger pulled. But in high stress situation your not playing like you practice. Be safe, everyone.

When I first carried, leather and nylon was pretty much the only material available. With the plastic/polymer/kydex now widely used and available, my choice is kydex over leather for many good reasons. I now mainly use kydex OWB and IWB and VNSH, as advertised and recommended by you. The carry position is anywhere between 1 thru 3 o'clock position.
I like Hidden Hybrid Holsters. I have several, and I haven't found anything as comfortable. I carry mostly full-size pistols, and have no issue with these holsters.
Some months back I got the the fat guy holster from JX tactilcal for my Hellcat. It made appendix carry super comfortable. I built a PSA Dagger compact aka glock 19 clone. For this one I went with fattac holsters. I use a dark star wing and a little pilliow thing that helps it not dig into my waist when crouching or sitting. I recently lost a bunch of weight but these holsters arw not just for fat guys. They ride lower and are adjustable for comfort. I tried my Vedder holster at 3oclock with the Hellcat and I can't do that anymore. I'm 100% appendix carry now. Fattac is the best holster I have found for my needs and comfort. Look them up on youtube.
I carry with a black scorpion group holster every single day for the last year and it’s been bearable with sweat in the Arizona heat but I’m young. I wanna start exploring more comfy options now this video is a godsend.
I carry appendix and have no issues with it. At first, the mental thing took a little while to get over. But once I realized I don’t put my dang finger on the trigger when it’s in my holster, it ain’t going to just “go off”. But, I wish it was legal for us in Florida to be able to carry in our vehicle with a dash mounted holster, a magnet or something similar. Unfortunately, Florida isn’t as 2A friendly as some may think.
That mug you are selling is quite nice. I got the targets too but I have not had the chance to train enough to need to shoot those drills yet. I did restock ammo this month. I ordered a mixed batch of .223/ 5.56 and 9MM from Georgia Arms. I've got a new UBR 2.0 arriving Monday that I will need to install. I live in North Gwinnett but I am a disabled vet have low vision and am unable to drive. I can shoot but maneuvering around people and obstacles requires a bit of extra time for scanning. I have a reduced field of vision but my acuity is still reasonably good for a 50 y/o. I think the storm must have impacted my new range buddy. He has not responded to my text since the storm passed through and he had mentioned getting up with me this weekend to go to the indoor range nearby where I live. He is also an Army vet. I like what you got going and thanks for sharing your experience with us. I've got some ideas for some concealment product lines I need to draw up and consider testing.
GUNZEE pads velcroed to the back of your kydex is a game changer for comfort. Easy to cut to custom shape n slightly overlap your pistol sights n slide serrations to avoid belly bite when you bend over lifting. Cheap easy solution for all day comfort.
Hey I also want to mention the philster enigma. It is an appendix style holster that you wear independent of your pants and belt. It’s great for going to the gym or when you’re wearing shorts or pants without a belt.
Thank you Sir. I carry in a Tier1 appendix. When driving, I loonen my belt a little and position it so the gun is comfortably ready to draw. The seat belt runs along my belt, and so is never in the way. Also, check out DeSantis Inner Piece appendix holsters. The most comfortable I've ever used.
Sir , you are truely a Christain man I have ever seen in my life --- saying this as 23 years old student girl from India , God bless you and your family
I haven’t tried the paracord trick with a trigger guard but that’s how I carry a fixed blade in my pocket. The sheath is connected to a belt loop with some cord and a tiny clip. It actually works slick as hell. Stroup knives are badass also. Just saying.
What he said about T1C. If you haven't. Get one. They're pricer of the options. But I ran everything under the sun. T1c msp I edc a full size threaded barrel 21 rounds plus spare mag and light and can't hardly tell. And it's a hammer. Anything smaller. And frankly I forget it's there. If your on the fence... I hate ordering something I can't see and feel. But it paired with a good belt like some they offer. Life changing. Def try it. I don't think you'll regret it.
I use a pocket locker from Vedder holsters in my fanny pack for trigger guard+ retention, and you can pull it out and use it for it's original design of pocket carry as well!!
I have a fanny pack. I had to get over the stigma of wearing one, but I do so quickly. Keep in mind, if you are planning on a fanny pack or shoulder sling, be sure to get one that has a dual zipper and it has a tab that will stick out between the dual zippers so when you pull that tab down, the pack opens easily to allow you to draw.
I prefer a cross-draw holster in leather that I've treated and is soft but conforms to my pistol. One that is angled away from your leg and body. It's fast and the barrel is pointed in a safe direction. I also carry cocked and locked because I'm an old 1911 guy.
The clip idea is sold by a company called "CLIP DRAW". They offer a second opinion where the clip attaches to the slide with a glue strip. I currently use BOTH of these and THEY WORK REAL WELL.
I have also started using a vnsh holster when wearing running shorts or sweatpants…. Works well enough that I usually leave it in that holster because it works with any pants.
I carry at about 3 o'clock. Being a Carpenter it came naturally to me. My ccw is basically where my speed square sits in my tool belt . If you know any Carpenters you probably know how we play duel with our soeed squares lol, all day every day. My t shirts & sweatshirts always cover the speed square a bit and how I move the garments out of the way is this- one handed, using my draw hand all one motion, i use just my thumb to move the garment - grab and draw. Using my weak/left hand even if I was carrying appendix just takes so long and for me, leaves aot of room for error ie garment hung up . But, i agree with everyone, carry where you are most comfortable carrying bc if its not comfortable you won't carry. Something else I learned even with "drawing my speed square" lmao is different garments move differently so, I say practice a few draws no matter where your position is , before you leave the house every day. Unless you wear the same shirt 7 days a week 365 . Im also finding like we need to change footwear, our carry setup may change with the conditions we are in. Stay safe Men, and women... this is a great series.
Check out the Phlster enigma. I carry a P01 with a TLR1- HL in floodlight holster. Anything from gym shorts to tucked casual dress. Comfortable to drive in and easy to access.
Try putting Moleskin on the backside of the kydex. It’s a lot more comfortable. Great video. Kurt really knows his stuff. Check out his K factor podcast.
Problem with Motorcycles is right hand throttle and my strong hand. I ride with a ankle holster, left ankle. This way I can access the pistol and throttle at the same time
A clipdraw or techniclip and a clip on kydex trigger guard cover is about the most comfortable carry option and almost naked. The bando bag is great for summer carry. Aka the murse or manny pack.
I practice medicine and due the locational and dress constraints, my EDC is an ankle rig and has been for ten years. A feasible option but requires awareness and practice.
Chad, I absolutely love the hat. Are those available ? I carry a Ruger 380 . It's so easy to conceal. And with good ammo, I think it's more than adequate... just my opinion...
The Sig P238 he showed with the clip is a 380. Use +P bullets and you have fairly equivalent 9mm penetration and stopping power. It's actually a pocket gun.
What is the problem with drawing from appendix with seat belt on? The bottom strap is below the grip. The upper strap can be dealt with by the right hand. Only special thing that needs to happen is to free the cover garment from under the belt when you click it in.
I use essential holsters, it’s a clip holster. Bare minimum, clips over the trigger guard and clips to your belt. I wear it all day without any problems.
4-430 for me personally although on occassion go appendix. 4-430 feels the most comfortable. I can sit down no prob. Conceals perfectly following the contour of hip and back, depending on cant. I can draw quickly. You have a free hand to push off on someone, get hips/p1stol out and draw. To each there own, just never found appendix great for me. Seated draw no issue either, you just ever so slightly lean forward, reach back and you got it in hand no prob.
I don’t carry my pistol inside the waistband, because the sweat from my body gets onto the weapon throughout the day I carry outside the pants like you would in an open carry scenario with my shirt or jacket covering the weapon I understand people can see the silhouette sometimes that’s why I try as much as possible to be aware of my surroundings
I sweat worse than everybody else just sitting in a chair drinking a lemonade I appreciate all your responses and advice I believe it is most important to be aware of my surroundings and train no matter how I decide to carry my weapon sometimes it may just be in the vehicle sometimes it may be in a book bag pouch
Used a concealed shoulder holster in the past. But, I have a barrel chest and the holster pushed my left arm out so you could tell I was carrying if you knew what to look for. If I get a concealed carry permit in my state, I might just use one of these options.
I found a soft suade holster that my MR920 fits in perfectly and clip is solid and steel it even holds it in my cottton shorts when I draw and pracrice holster does not move. With right tshirt not even printing. Appendix carry.
Totally on board with the no underwear issue, Florida is hot AF. I suggest checking out Stealthgear holsters, you get the extra adjustability of Kydex, but the back side against your skin is a softer, breathable material. Very comfortable, kind of the best of both worlds between a 100% Kydex holster and a 100% leather holster, with the additional breathability.

I love the crossbreed supertuck holsters. I have one of all the popular styles and nothing beats those supertuck holsters in my opinion
I ran appendix carry for 8 years and changed to cross draw holsters a year ago since i drive alot more often.
My EDC is a CZ 75 D. Has served me well so far. A bit heavier than the glock 19.
The clip idea is sold by a company called "CLIP DRAW". They offer a second opinion where the clip attaches to the slide with a glue strip. I currently use BOTH of these and THEY WORK REAL WELL.
No trigger guard is a bad idea.
@@GUY2606yea pointed at the boys and the arteries. Yea no
HE'S OUT THERE JERRY!!!
You've converted me. I'll need to practice. I've carried on my right side forever. Appendix from now on. Always the best videos
Pocket carry in a pocket holster for your primary. BUG in an ankle holster or fanny pack for sitting and driving.
The appendix carry IWB option is in my opinion is the most dangerous, to conceal a pistol.
I got a 945 Carrybag it seems to work really well for me.
4:27 - the most key element of concealed carry revealed: "I don't like to wear underwear". Love it 😆
Check out the Phlster enigma.
Great advice guy’s!
I appreciate it! I like that hat Chad!
Y’all take care and stay safe!
Great and informative video. I also like to wear my belly belt holster with my gym clothing and when riding my motorcycle.
Problem with Motorcycles is right hand throttle and my strong hand. I ride with a ankle holster, left ankle. This way I can access the pistol and throttle at the same time
Same I have a dash mount magnetic Pistol mount when I drive, Pull it when I park and put it in my holster
I was admiring the hat too. I have something similar and it is finally getting cool enough to wear it again!
What's up man we need chilly u guys always have a good time cmon
What is the problem with drawing from appendix with seat belt on?
The bottom strap is below the grip. The upper strap can be dealt with by the right hand. Only special thing that needs to happen is to free the cover garment from under the belt when you click it in.
Goes down to training. Same goes for the debate about whether to carry with or without one in the chamber.
That's not even a debate, pure idiocy to carry without a loaded chamber
Best option iIve found that works for me is the 945 industries bag.
I don’t carry my pistol inside the waistband, because the sweat from my body gets onto the weapon throughout the day
I carry outside the pants like you would in an open carry scenario with my shirt or jacket covering the weapon
I understand people can see the silhouette sometimes that’s why I try as much as possible to be aware of my surroundings
That's why I wear an undershirt
The only people who know you are carrying are other gun owners, regular people and thugs don't have a clue.
If you clean your gun and oil it once or twice a week the sweat isnt a ploblem
I sweat worse than everybody else just sitting in a chair drinking a lemonade
I appreciate all your responses and advice
I believe it is most important to be aware of my surroundings and train no matter how I decide to carry my weapon sometimes it may just be in the vehicle sometimes it may be in a book bag pouch
Lose weight then
Used a concealed shoulder holster in the past.
Gunzee on a kydex holster makes it very comfortable.
These plastic holsters are uncomfortable as hell I like the leather inside the waistband there are more comfortable especially when you're sitting😅
you guys need to watch Bill Rapier seal team 6 concealed carry. he sides carries and talks about why which is based on a physical fight before having to draw a gun. really interesting. he's says he sides carries because its better for fighting. also bill is BJJ black belt. Dom Raso also side carries. check it out and see what works for you
