El Salvador is at the early start of getting a lot better trust me on this one, El Salvador is gonna change wildly for the better. Free minded people are gonna find peace and joy to be at a country that cherish new contributions to the country. As an example president bukele’s announcements to give 5000 passports( in other words immediate Salvadoran citizenship) to bright minded people that will contribute to the country is just an amazing initiative. if you’re a talented person looking for a fresh start in a country that has a lot of enthusiasm for the future and you want to contribute you’re in the right country to settle and you’re welcome here in El Salvador.

Moving to El Salvador can be a game-changer. Of course, there are still challenges and trade-offs, and we’re all still building here. But the country is offering incredible opportunities, especially for those looking for freedom and solid property rights, thanks to Bitcoin. If you have a remote job, El Salvador can be a great fit.
If you can, I recommend coming down in November for the @AdoptingBTC conference. It’s a perfect chance to explore, meet other expats, and get a feel for the country. You’ll see firsthand why so many people are making the move. You can grab discounted tickets with my link: pretix.eu/galoy/ab24/redeem?voucher=SVINSIDERS.

I'm moving there permanently soon. I'm salvadoran and also have US citizenship. I'm a little nervous about losing my ss benefits for something little since I won't be here, like..not reporting my wages.

    • @ElSalvadorInsiders
      @ElSalvadorInsiders  Місяць тому +3

      @@guanacoguanaco2531 read this:
Dealing with the IRS and Social Security if you live in El Salvador full-time:
      1. Taxes (IRS):
Even if you’re living abroad, as a U.S. citizen, you still have to file taxes on your worldwide income. But don’t worry-there are ways to avoid double taxation.
The Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE) lets you exclude a good chunk of your foreign income (around $120,000), and the Foreign Tax Credit (FTC) lets you offset taxes you’ve already paid to El Salvador.
You might also need to report foreign bank accounts if they’re over a certain amount.
      2. Social Security:
If you’re already getting Social Security benefits, you can keep receiving them in El Salvador.
The U.S. doesn’t have a special agreement with El Salvador for Social Security, but you’re still eligible for payments.
Just make sure to contact the Social Security Administration (SSA) to have your payments sent to a foreign bank or address.
      3. Pro Tip:
It’s a good idea to talk to a tax expert who knows about expat taxes, just to be sure you’re doing everything right!
      I hope this helps!

We’re digging deeper into this topic because it’s been coming up a lot, and we’re working on more content around it.

Super simple -Sell everything, convert it to #bitcoin, have $12 ready in a LN wallet like @blinkbtc to pay for a 6-month tourist visa upon landing, and then apply for residency.
      Easy as that 😉
Understanding El Salvador Residency Time Requirements:
      1️⃣ Year 1 - Temporary Residency:
      - Granted for one year upon arrival.
      - Leaving El Salvador is allowed, but no single trip should exceed 90 days, and cumulative days abroad should not surpass 120 days.
      2️⃣ Year 2 to 3 - Visa Extension:
      - Your visa can be extended for another two years after the first year.
      - Requirement to stay in El Salvador for at least eight months each year remains in effect.
      3️⃣ Year 3 onwards - Permanent Residency:
      - After completing three years, you're eligible to apply for permanent residency.
      - This status allows you to leave El Salvador for up to two years in one stretch.
4️⃣ Year 5 onwards - Eligibility for Citizenship:
      - After five years of residing in El Salvador, you can apply for citizenship.
      - As a citizen, you can stay outside El Salvador for up to five years at a time.
      🇸🇻🫡

In fact, I have a Black friend who I’m helping as he starts his business in El Salvador, and as far as I know, he hasn’t experienced any problems related to his race-but I’ll ask him to be sure. I should check Wikipedia, but I’m fairly confident that white people are actually a minority group here.
I assume that for LGBTQ individuals, the situation is different. El Salvador is a very conservative country, and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to change course anytime soon. It’s not comparable to Western countries in terms of LGBTQ rights or lifestyle. From what I read online, I think Costa Rica or Uruguay may be better options in that case.

Bukele while he does want to bring foreign investment because its quite important..... BUT! All i am saying how do you sustain foreign investment while it not affecting significantly local first home buyers? How do you balance it where every1 has equal opportunity? And not a situation that locals are trying to compete with people that have greater purchasing power?

      @@fallenarchangel5300 Good and fair questions.
When real estate prices go up because foreigners are buying property, it’s actually a good thing for El Salvador and its people. But let's think this through:
It’s a win for Salvadoran homeowners: if foreigners are paying more for houses, local homeowners benefit. The value of their homes goes up. So, if they decide to sell, they get way more cash. And even if they don’t sell, their home’s worth more now. That’s money in the bank, literally, because they can use that value to get loans or make investments.
Foreign money grows the economy: when people from other countries buy property, they’re bringing cash into the country. That money doesn’t just disappear. It goes into local businesses, construction, services, and so on. That means more jobs for Salvadorans. More businesses. More opportunity.
More homes get built: when prices rise, developers see a chance to make money, so they build more homes. More homes mean more supply (and more jobs), and that can help stabilize prices in the future. So, yeah, prices are up now, but it’ll even out as more housing options come on the market.
Poorer people still benefit: let's think about this, if someone can’t afford a house now, rising prices aren’t really affecting them, they weren’t going to buy anyway. What matters is that when the economy grows, it creates more jobs. Better-paying jobs. And that means people who are struggling today have a better shot at improving their situation tomorrow.
Better jobs for the long game: foreign investment doesn’t just bring any jobs, it brings higher-paying jobs that require better skills. This pushes people to level up their skills and work ethic, get better education, and eventually land better jobs. Over time, this means more people will be able to buy homes, not fewer.
The big picture is social mobility: look at Singapore. It was poor not too long ago, but foreign investment turned it into an economic powerhouse. People moved from poverty into the middle class over time. The same thing will happen in El Salvador, today’s investments can create a better life for the next generation.
Free market means free choice: no one’s being forced to sell their home. Salvadorans are selling because they’re getting offers they like. It’s their choice. Trying to block these sales would just slow down the economy and stop people from making money off their property.
Bottom line: rising real estate prices aren’t the enemy. They’re a sign of a growing economy, more jobs, and a chance for Salvadorans to build wealth. It’s not simply foreigners and diaspora buying up properties and raising prices. There is much more to it. In the medium and long-term this benefits everyone in the country.
I hope this clarifies few things 🤝

¡Sí, la diáspora salvadoreña que regresa de Canadá y Estados Unidos está haciendo que los precios de los bienes raíces suban como locos! 😬 🤷‍♂️
